Top Star Lee Gun-Woo - Chapter 2: Past Life Awakening (2)
Chapter 2: Past Life Awakening (2)
His eyes opened.
What he saw was a view of the hospital room.
The long bloody battle in the bamboo forest must have ended with his own death.
However, there were no wounds piercing his abdomen, and he was wearing a cast so he couldn’t see if his limbs were broken.
Looking next to him, he saw my mother crying.
He looked at his mother’s face.
His mother cared for him terribly even when she was working in the fields under the humans like a son of a bitch and lived on grasslands.
Until the moment he was killed by a bandit…
“Are- are you okay?”
His mother runs a small snack bar.
He often turns down her requests for help and makes up an excuse.
Nevertheless, she never has a sad look on her face.
A mother who was wandering around as a slash-and-burn farmer, and now a mother looking at him with worried eyes.
The two images appeared to overlap.
They had slightly different faces, but they were clearly the same person.
“How do you…”
“Oh, my God. I’m glad there are no major problems other than your broken bones… If you even get a head injury… Gun-woo, stop scaring your mom.”
He remembered what had happened.
He saw a little kid jumping into the road following the balloon and intervened.
He rescued her, but he seemed to have been hit because he could not avoid the oncoming car.
He could just ignore her, but he thought for some reason that he had to save her.
He just felt like he would regret it for the rest of his life if he couldn’t save her.
‘What about using self-defense…’
Gun-woo was surprised when he thought about it seriously.
Because he was seriously thinking about self-defense.
They were in the cultivation land, and they were distributing…
His memories were overlapping.
He was so confused that it was impossible to think about it clearly without trying to concentrate into the depths of him.
It was as if two images existed at the same time.
It was not a dream or an illusion.
It was definitely his own real memory.
‘I’m dead and yet, I’m alive. Is that my past life? Why…’
Fatigue came to him.
He frowned greatly on his headache.
It came to him crashing down like a wave.
“Sleep a little longer.”
He closed his eyes to his mother’s words.
The hand stroking his forehead reminded him of his childhood.
* * *
He slept for several days and then woke up repeatedly.
The dream that continued over and over was completely entrenched in his mind.
Some dreams were vivid but some were not.
There were pleasant dreams and there were very sad dreams.
He realized that it was never a lie.
It was obviously an end to the life that he had gone through.
He couldn’t fully recall all of his memories, but he never had any regrets about that death, and there was only that feeling of missing someone.
His name was Jin Cheon.
He was a martial artist who walked the path of the sword as the rivalling disciple of the head of Unseon Sect .
It is impossible to know exactly what happened because many of his memories cannot be recalled, but he certainly died in a grueling battle with a large group.
‘I did do that. Was it revenge? Revenge?’
What was revenge for?
He just couldn’t wrap his head around it.
But just thinking about it, his heart ached and his eyes reddened.
His memories and feelings were by no means false.
He was so sure.
‘Now I’m Lee Gun-woo… I’m 23 years old.’
His memory as Lee Gun-woo was intact.
Right after taking the qualification exam, he went to the army and pursued music.
Of course it couldn’t have worked out.
The part of the deposit and monthly rent for the room was still being paid by his mother.
He spent a lot of time in vain until the moment of the accident.
Sometimes he complained that everything was because of society and that everything was because he was given to the wrong parents.
But it was all his own.
If he hadn’t remembered this…
Maybe that’s how he’ll spend the next few years of his life.
He had the idea of helping his mother with her work, but it was also an escape from reality.
Few are as foolish as turning a blind eye to the enemy in front of them.
He had nothing to say as such stupidity built up and built up and got caught by his pacifist self.
‘That’s pathetic, I’m such a moron.’
Gun-woo judged himself like he was looking at others.
The good news is that they didn’t have a loan or anything.
It was clear that it was hard on his mother, both mentally and physically.
‘He who does not know the way cannot be liberated. The Master said that the first thing that I have to do is become an adult(?). If he saw me today, he would have yelled at me.’
Gun-woo was not smart. With a weak will, he had no clear goal.
At least he got a little bit of a face, so he played around with it and tried to look cool.
At that time, he thought he was a very smart genius.
After his father’s death, his mother was responsible for his livelihood, and Gun-woo became independent under the pretext of music.
The guitar, which was broken in the accident, was also bought with his mother’s money.
So was the amount needed to switch from music to acting.
He sighed automatically.
He thinks of himself as Gun-woo, but his mind itself has changed, perhaps because of his past or what can be called as past life.
Past life and present life.
He would be just who he is to accept everything.
He defined himself that way.
In order to move forward, he had to stand up for himself.
It was the same whether it was nothingness or a door.
As he defined himself, his vague vision seemed to have become clearer.
Those who can’t undermine him will be broadened, and his thinking deepened.
The lessons he had in his previous life were never in vain.
It was enlightenment through his memory.
Gun-woo closed his eyes for a moment and opened them.
His cloudy eyes had changed to very clear.
It was physically painful and uncomfortable, but mentally it was very refreshing.
It was the most refreshing day in Gun-woo’s 23-year life.
‘By the way, did they say he was coming today?’
The kid’s father said he was coming.
The hospital room where Gun-woo was located was a luxurious single room that did not fit his circumstances.
Everything is said to be entirely given by the child’s father.
Gunwoo’s mother was busy with the snack bar and would not come until late at night, so he thought that she must be meeting him alone.
Gun-woo’s expression hardened when his mother’s face came to his mind.
Gun-woo breathed deeply into the sadness that was coming.
His mother, whom he remembers, suffered a terrible death.
That scene was still vividly replayed in his mind.
The memories of that childhood came to his mind.
He overcame it, but after the wound had disappeared, a scar remained.
He is not as mature as he was in his previous life.
It felt like his wound had been ripped apart again.
‘To save me… To hide me…’
My mother’s face was still the same.
His face was also the same as it was before.
Although he looks somewhat younger and weaker compared to his previous life.
Now his mother is alive.
Now he’ll pay off his past misdeeds in his present life.
“First of all…”
His recovery was his priority.
He closed his eyes quietly.
He concentrated his mind and felt the energy around him.
At first, he felt nothing, but as he recalled his past practices, he could feel the weak energy hidden in the air.
It was absurdly small compared to his previous life.
And it was quite polluted, so it was clear that if he continued to play like this, he would be in trouble and become a nuisance.
‘Transcendental method is too impossible now.’
He was in a bad condition, too.
It is safe to say that the waste materials and his hardened body accumulated over the course of 22 years are the worst for learning martial arts.
The Transcendental method required a clean spirit.
Even if he was forced to use the Transcendental method, it was difficult to perform it normally.
He pondered for a moment.
He did know how to purify his accumulated negative energy .
He didn’t know why he knew how to do that, but it existed in his memory.
It also goes well with the Transcendental method, so it would be effective if the Transcendental method was operated after cleaning his foundation with this.
Unseon sect: 雲仙道人 or literally “different people walking down the noble flowery path” (I’m not versed in Hanja nor Chinese characters so if anyone of you knew what is the correct translation of it, please do comment and tell us, we appreciate it). It was also said that it can be translated to “Taoist people ” or people who believe in Taoism.
Door: The door talked about here is “A process that one must go through to achieve his/her goal.”, it can be choosing the
Transcendental method: literally the method of being into the highest level/position, but because it is about murim (korean martial arts), it is pertaining to transcending into the highest known martial artist like how a swordsman becomes a swordmaster and how a mage becomes an archmage.
waste materials: Like CFC, CO², nutrients bad for our bodies such as low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, etc.
scamming energy: it was literally “scamming/fraud” in the raws but I think bad energy is much more appropriate.
