Tensei Kizoku wa Taishi wo Idaku! - Chapter 9: 4-year-old, Home stay.
Chapter 9: 4-year-old, Home stay.
The remaining people who didn’t go to the royal capital needed to arrange the new year party.
This time, on behalf of the Wellrod family, Lucia was going to give her New Year’s greetings from a higher stage.
Isaac stood next to her.
“Happy New Year! We have prepared a lot of food, so I hope you enjoy it. I hope the new year greets us with better opportunities and success, kanpai!”
(TL note: ‘Kanpai’ is basically Japanese for ‘cheers’)
With that, everyone raised a toast.
Although Melinda’s faction was dominant, it didn’t hamper the new years celebration.
After that, everyone returned to their normal behaviour and started talking to each other.
Lucia got off the stage with Isaac with a relieved expression.
There, Isaac said to her:
“Mom, thank you for your hard work.”
“Thank you. After all, I become really nervous whenever I need to talk in public.”
Lucia gulped down a glass of champagne and placed it on her maid’s tray.
She had a quiet personality and wasn’t someone who’d pull people around with her.
She was nervous at the unfamiliar public gathering.
She felt really envious of people like Melinda who could show a dignified attitude at times like these.
“You are the mother of this child, so you should get used to it.”
Lucia’s sister-in-law, Karen, called out.
“Oh, why is that?”
“When Isaac gets a bit older, he will get more attention. So as a result, his mother will get a lot of attention as well.”
Melinda’s recommendation was strong, but the first lady of the Wellrod family was Lucia.
Moreover, Isaac’s intelligence was not that of a four-year-old.
There was no doubt that it would attract attention in the royal capital next year.
If that happened, his mother, Lucia, would also become the focus of attention.
Thinking about that Karen giggled at her sister-in-law.
“Already? You’re so mean.”
Lucia said so, but she was laughing.
Originally both of them were already on good terms, but they got even closer while raising both of their children together.
At this point, Lucia was closer to Karen than her brother, andy.
“Thank you for coming with me, Isaac. The greetings are over, so you can go to the children’s room.”
“I don’t need to stay to greet the other guests?”
Isaac was a bit dissatisfied.
This event was a chance for him to meet a lot of people.
It would’ve been a waste to miss such an event.
“It’s okay. And as you see, Nathan isn’t here right now. So make some male friends.”
Lucia gently stroked Isaac’s hair while saying so.
Children over 5 years old went to the royal capital, but children under 4 years old still remained in their homes.
So naturally, a lot of the boys who were generally around Nathan were here as well.
Isaac had no friends of the same age and sex due to the greedy desire of their parents who wanted them to stay with Nathan, who seemed to have the advantage regarding the inheritance rights, and then there was Melinda, who was from a Marquis family, as well.
The parents told the children to become friends with Nathan and to stay away from Isaac.
“If you can become an aide to the future Marquis, then you’d definitely be successful”, was the thinking behind those parents’ decision.
They even told their daughters to stay away from Nathan, as he wouldn’t take them as fiances anyway.
The marriage between Randolph and Lucia was an unusual one.
It was not difficult to imagine that Nathan, who had the blood of the Marquis of Wellrod and the Marquis of Wilmette, would marry someone from a house of the same rank.
In that case, everyone thought it would be better to have Isaac as their daughter’s partner as an insurance.
For Melinda, Isaac was an obstacle.
The other aristocrats might be able to get their son-in-law’s favour, or they would get the Wellrod blood in their own bloodline.
Everyone thought that it was more likely to produce safer results than forcing Nathan to have to marry the daughter of a lower aristocrat.
That’s why Isaac only has female friends.
She was purely worried that Isaac couldn’t make same-sex friends.
But Lucia wasn’t telling him to make friends who would support him in the fight for succession.
She was purely worried that Isaac couldn’t make friends from the same gender.
(To be honest, it’s fun to spend time with girls like Tiffany and Lisa.)
Isaac always thought, ‘I’m happy to be surrounded by such pretty girls’, whenever he went to play with them. Even though he knew that he’d be called a lolicon.
But sometimes he wanted a male friend with whom he could talk about stupid stuff.
Isaac didn’t want to make his mother worry either.
A children’s room, a daycare center provided by the Wellrods so that the adults would be able to enjoy the party slowly.
There, it was like a battlefield.
-A child who was laughing with a high-pitched voice.
-A child crying because he felt lonely being away from his parents.
-A few children who were fighting for some reason.
-And the servants running around like medics between the children.
Isaac saw a lot of new faces, it was because not only the servants of the Wellrod, but also the ones from other aristocratic families were there.
Since being reborn as Isaac, the only quiet and bearable child he had encountered was Tiffany.
Isaac felt a headache when he saw some children acting all childish.
Tiffany found Isaac entering the room and waved her hand.
She was with some other girls.
Without any delay, Isaac headed towards Tiffany.
“Hey everyone. Happy new year”
“Happy new year”
After exchanging greetings, Isaac looked at everyone.
“You always look cute, but when you dress up like this you look really different than usual.”
“Really? Thank you.”
“My dad bought me this hair accessory.”
After that, all the girls started showing their party outfits to Isaac.
They were talking about the party clothes that they usually didn’t wear.
(Yeah, this makes me laugh a bit)
In his previous life Isaac never got the chance to tell a girl that she’s cute.
No, he was just too embarrassed to say it.
However, this world was different.
Considering Isaac’s mental age, the girls were like the children of his relatives.
He could call a relative’s child ‘cute’, even in his previous life.
This was just another extension of it.
If the day comes when Isaac really wanted to say it, would he be able to do so……?
“Are you sure he isn’t a girl? He’s always playing with them.”
Isaac heard a voice from behind.
When Isaac turned around, five boys who were usually around Nathan were standing there.
They were also four-year olds, the same as Isaac.
Originally, they should’ve been friends with Isaac.
However, it was hard to imagine them being friends with Isaac as they always wore a stupid look on their face.
(By the way, when I was a kid, every other kid thought that guys who played with girls were feminine.)
It wasn’t the children’s mistake.
‘Being swept away by such trends was in the very nature of humankind’, Isaac thought so.
(But that’ll be minus 1 point.)
Isaac deducted points from the rude kid.
Because they were children, there were some things that they couldn’t help doing.
Among them Isaac was mentally an adult.
Therefore, he decided to overlook a few things.
However, it would be different if things went too far.
Those who got their points deducted more than a certain amount would be subject to a purge in the near future.
Isaac was an adult in a kid’s body.
“Then, if you’re here, let’s play together. What kind of games do you always play with my brother?”
However, he didn’t want to behave like a kid.
Instead of getting angry at the boy, he tried to forgive him and play.
‘It wouldn’t be very adult like to get angry at these kids’, four-year-old Isaac thought.
“We played dueling and tag with Nathan. Someone like you who always plays with girls like them won’t be able to play with us.”
But his efforts were in vain.
Their parents educated them into thinking, ‘Nathan is great. Follow him quietly’.
And with that—
‘Nathan is great = Isaac is not great’
‘Nathan’s friend are also great = greater than Isaac’s friends’
Isaac thought that they came up with such an answer.
A shallow reasoning befitting a child.
Even if Nathan inherited the title, Isaac, the son of the Marquis, would not be inferior to him at all.
Randolph along with Milenda would end up getting badly scalded if Morgan knew about Nathan’s teachings.
But Isaac had no intentions of telling him.
Rather than doing that, Isaac motivated himself by thinking, ‘I’ll crush you myself in the future’.
“That’s right. Girls can’t do too violent things. Older brother isn’t here, so let’s play together.”
“No, Nathan would hate it if he knows about it.”
“And we won’t play with someone who plays so much with girls.”
I understand why Nathan would hate it, but he couldn’t wrap his head around the idea of not playing with someone who played with women.
(You guys will be staring at every passing woman in the next 10 years …)
When they’re young, they play with boys only, but the same children would start worrying about girls when they reach adolescence.
It was too late already, but Isaac regretted not having a female childhood friend.
(――A sweet and sour love event with your childhood friend.)
It was the perfect opportunity for those children to trigger such an event flag.
However, the other party was a group of normal children.
Even if Isaac tried to teach them the importance of event flags, he was sure that they wouldn’t understand.
And Isaac had no intentions of meddling with someone else’s life so he gave up on the idea.
“Well, I’m sorry. I know I can’t replace my brother. So rather than playing, why don’t you go soothe those crying kids? You all should be able to handle something like that. It should be easy for my brother’s friends.”
Isaac just couldn’t stop being unable to make friends.
So instead of worsening the situation, he chose to take advantage of it.
“Of course. Let’s go.”
Children who were taught to follow Nathan’s orders without questioning wouldn’t be able to refuse requests if one said “it should be easy for Nathan’s friends”.
And it came out to be true. Nathan’s friends left to attend to the other children just as Isaac had predicted.
“Isaac, are you okay?”
Tiffany called out to Isaac.
Male friends and female friends.
Even Tiffany knew that there was a big difference between them.
She was worried that Isaac might be lonely with only girl friends.
“I am okay. Let’s go play with the younger children. Maybe we’ll be able to make new friends.”
Last year Isaac spent time with Tiffany and the others in a different room, so he didn’t know that three year old children were there too.
But this time he knew, so he decided to help out the servants a bit, by calming down the younger children by talking to them.
He knew that it’d be easier for them as they were closer to them in age.
“Yeah, that’s right. I am everyone’s older sister.”
All the older children went to the royal capital.
So Tiffany acted all grown up to keep the children from crying and making a fuss.
All of the children including Tiffany thought that children who were old enough to go to the royal capital were grown ups who knew a lot of things.
Looking at Tiffany acting like an older sister made Isaac smile a bit.
While looking at Tiffany, one question arose in Isaac’s mind.
(Sweet and sour romance with my childhood friend. If it ever happened to me then it’d probably be with Tiffany …. She should have a fiancée. Then will such an event even happen? Or will I become the fiancée?)
There was no character such as “Issac Wellrod” on the official website.
(――What kind of influence will my existence have on my surroundings?)
It was something he hadn’t thought about before.
However, even after thinking for a long time, Isaac wasn’t able to get the question out of his head.
