Tensei Kizoku wa Taishi wo Idaku! - Chapter 12: 4-year-old, Karen's intuition.
Chapter 12: 4-year-old, Karen’s intuition.
-In front of Patrick’s room.
Three people stood there along with Patrick.
“Issac, does it look good?”
The flowers that Tiffany received from Isaac, Adela had made them into a crown.
Tiffany wore the crown and showed it to Isaac.
“Yeah, it looks good”
Isaac praised her politely.
He was happy that his flowers were being used like that.
There was no reason for him to not praise her.
Patrick also looked interested, so he started sniffing the crown with his paws on Tiffany’s shoulders.
Dogs grew fast.
Patrick, who was about a year old, was much bigger and heavier than Isaac and Tiffany.
But Tiffany didn’t hate it when Patrick climbed on her shoulders.
Patrick was now family to both of them.
“Let’s go show it to our mothers.”
Isaac proposed to show the crown to Lucia and Karen.
Lucia and Karen were enjoying their tea time at a distance.
Tiffany excitedly agreed.
After that, Isaac took Tiffany’s hand and started walking.
Patrick and Adela follow from behind.
Patrick was only one year old, but his body was that of an adult dog.
There were times where he imitated Adela and looked over Isaac and TIffany from a distance.
Dogs were precocious, so Isaac wondered if Patrick saw himself as their guardian.
Adela just watched over all three of them and smiled.
Lisa should’ve been with her but she was at home, studying.
She would soon be 10 years old.
She would soon make her debut in the winter.
(TL/N: Here debut is being used for ‘official public appearance’ cuz children don’t actually get exposed to the outside world much before they turn 10.)
Isaac was a hands-free child, so she could put her friend-and-sister role on hold for a while.
(TL/N: The other aristocratic children needed them almost all the time and they were kinda crucial. But Isaac is really smart so it’s not that crucial for her to be with Isaac all the time. Their relationship didn’t break.)
“From now on I will spend more time improving myself”, was what Lisa had decided.
When Isaac and Tiffany approached, Lucia and Karen stopped talking and looked at Tiffany.
“Oh~ now isn’t that a good looking crown. It looks really good on you.”
“Yeah, Adela made it for me.”
Complimented by her Karen, Tiffany replied happily.
“Thank you, Adela”
“It’s been a long time since I made one, so I was worried if I could do it well … but I managed to do it somehow”, Adela said with a relieved expression.
In contrast, Karen looked at Isaac with slightly steep eyes.
“… Lucia, seems like your son will get into quite a lot of trouble in the future.”
Isaac was shocked.
He hadn’t heard anything about Karen being able to read people’s minds.
He never thought someone would be able to see through his future plans.
The fear of being dismembered made his legs tremble.
“What do you mean?”
The future of her son was at stake, so she looked worried.
Karen didn’t want to make them worried.
“Children his age are more pleased with sweets and toys. But Isaac didn’t bother about those things… rather, he chose a flowerbed and didn’t even think before giving out those flowers as gifts… I am sure he was born as a natural womanizer.”
Isaac was relieved at Karen’s words– no.
(I didn’t have that intention.)
He gave Tiffany a flower as a sign of friendship, not as a courtship offer to the opposite sex.
While being busy thinking about his plans, he never even thought about how his present actions were being perceived by others.
“Oh, maybe he’s similar to Randolph. He was kind to too many people, so I easily misunderstood him.”
Lucia never thought that Isaac was intentionally giving flowers as a gift.
And he probably looked like an absentminded kind Randolph to her.
Remembering her past, Lucia giggled.
“What are you laughing at? He will surely get into a lot of trouble.”
Isaac agreed with Karen’s “trouble” part.
Unlike the hero of a romantic comedy, it is unlikely another heroine won’t target you just because you’re with someone else.
So naturally the partner would also be subjected to resentment.
‘Why was she chosen?’
There was a lot of trouble involved in being the heir of a Marquis.
However, Lucia didn’t show any such worries on her face.
“I was the one who chose Randolph. That alone made me forget everything I didn’t like.”
“Ah! This will go well with this sweet herbal tea.”
Karen said with a laugh.
In particular, he didn’t know anything about his parent’s encounter with each other and the sweet romance that unfolded afterwards.
He wondered if Tiffany was interested in the story because she was also a girl, but it seemed he was wrong.
Tiffany wasn’t interested in such things because she was still young.
Tiffany was lying down with her head on Patrick’s back like a pillow.
She had removed the crown beforehand to prevent it from getting crushed.
Unlike Isaac, Tiffany grew at her own pace.
Boring things were boring, and she went to sleep whenever she felt sleepy.
But Isaac still suspected that Tiffany was growing up a bit too fast.
However, Isaac still understood Tiffany’s behaviour a bit.
It was Patrick’s existence.
A puppy that was cute like a moving stuffed animal about half a year ago was now a huge and dignified dog.
It was still cute, but when it grew up, it felt reliable.
Patrick has become a person to whom the mother’s could entrust their children and stay reassured that they’d be safe.
While the parents were talking, it was just the natural course of action to doze off on your reliable partner’s back.
(I’ve never done that.)
Isaac was a little jealous.
And if he doesn’t do it now, then he would never get the chance to do it again.
The bigger you grow, the heavier your head gets.
Something like using your dog as a pillow was something only children could do.
With that in mind, he decided to try it right away
“You can continue your conversation with Adela.”
Saying so, Isaac retracted from the conversation and then put his head on Patrick’s back.
Patrick turned his head towards Isaac, as if saying, “Hmm? You too?”
As expected, even though both of them were toddlers, two people were a bit much for Patrick.
However, after thinking for a moment, he gave up with a face saying, “Go on, not like you’re gonna stop.”
Usually Patrick always bothered Isaac, but there were times where he also had this good side where he always wanted to take care of Isaac.
“Oh, are you going to take a nap? If so, go to bed–”
“What’s the problem? Sometimes they should do things like these.”
Lucia said to Karen with a giggle.
Tea time while watching over the children taking a nap in the sun was not bad either.
“Adela, come join us then.”
“Yeah. I also want to ask what your daughter was like after she grew a bit older.”
“That’s right … Then, just a little.”
‘The children seem to be asleep.’
‘Besides, the weather is nice.’
Adela joined the Girls Talk.
It seemed that rather than parenting, talks about how Lucia met Randolph were emerging.
Isaac could hear a sweet story while lying on Patrick’s fluffy back.
When he closed his eyes, he had a feeling of déjà vu.
(That’s right. This is the same as when Masami was playing that game while I tried to sleep. Well, at that time it was a handsome guy’s voice, so this one is much better.)
It is better to use a female voice as a lullaby than to use a male voice actor’s sweet whisper as a lullaby.
Isaac thought about Karen’s words while thinking so.
(Flowers are misunderstood by women … Well, I wish I had a birthday or some other reason … I wonder if it’s not good to give a present just because I felt like giving one, just like today?)
Isaac was unaware that Karen was just joking along with his mother.
He took it seriously and was seriously worried.
(Ah, I still want money. If I have money, I can prepare for the future without giving out flowers.)
‘Of course, it is not just flowers—- it is money.’
‘If you give money, you will not be misunderstood like if you give out flowers to people.’
Isaac thought so.
Isaac’s idea was that he would eliminate Nathan when he became ten years old.
The New Year’s party held on New Year’s Day.
There would also be an unveiling of all the 10-year-old children.
“――I grew up safely until I was ten years old. It’s okay to go out to socialize.”
This was the announcement to be made.
A large number of people would gather.
That’s why, overtake everyone there and let people know who the real successor is.
That was Isaac’s plan.
If it was just for the purpose of eliminating Melinda and Nathan, it would still be possible at this stage.
However, there was a problem.
For now, the only excuse to eliminate Nathan would be Isaac’s inheritance rights.
Considering the nature of aristocrats, it’s quite difficult to convince the other aristocrats to join just based on inheritance.
Isaac couldn’t just eliminate Nathan in the name of his ‘legitimate’ inheritance rights and then go on with committing a rebellion, which was pretty ‘illegitimate’.
If Nathan gets eliminated just by pushing the terms of the inheritance in front then friction among his allies would surely arise.
To suppress that, he’d need fear and profit.
Regarding fear, he couldn’t do anything because he was still a child.
Then, profit- money,
‘Prove that you can bring profit to those who follow you.’
‘The benefits of being attached to Isaac are greater than those of the current royal family.’
If people thought so then Isaac’s allies would naturally increase.
As an aristocrat, he still doesn’t know what to do.
Moreover, he didn’t ever get to know the answer.
In any situation.
And so, he wanted the power that came with money.
(Ah …. If Sato were here at such a time, maybe he would’ve been able to think of a good way …)
Isaac recalled his friend from his school days.
His first impression on Isaac was ‘a creepy guy whom nobody can read’, but after becoming his friend he became ‘a surprisingly kind guy’.
When asked, “Do you know a good part-time job because I want to buy a car?”, Sato introduced him to a high-priced part-time job with his parent’s helper.
At one point, he introduced Isaac to a part-time job, ‘collecting boxes thrown away by cargo ships arriving from abroad.’
A fishing boat that does not light up in the sea at night, collected the boxes that the cargo ships threw off the deck.
It was just that, but because he jumped into the dark sea, it was a part-time job with a really big pay cheque.
Preventing the pollution of the sea and making money.
It was a very good job.
At one point, there was a part-time job where he had to pick up forgotten luggage and deliver them back to the owners or someone who needed them delivered.
The contents of the baggage were only a bag of wheat flour and potato starch, but whenever he delivered one package, he’d get a huge pay. But it was quite tiresome to carry them through the overly complicated paths marked on the maps.
The deliveries were always to overly busy areas, and they were always received by a scary looking yakuza guy. But surprisingly enough they behaved quite nicely towards him.
(It’s good if you have a connection with people and can use it well)
[TL/N: Potato starch and wheat.]
(Although it was ultimately through his parents, he had talent good enough to get a nice job.)
If Sato, who had a good nose for the smell of gold, were with Isaac then surely Isaac’s work would’ve become a lot easier.
But there was a need to think about that, because his friends from his previous life were not going to come here.
He had to solve such problems himself.
(I’ve saved some pocket money, but there isn’t much I can do with a child’s pocket money. I need to think of ways to make myself more money that’d also benefit the aristocrats who’ll join me.)
Just relying on the money of the Marquis will eventually lead to bankruptcy.
It was not enough to just spit out what his ancestors had accumulated, it had to be Isaac.
‘――Pull in money from some other gold mine?’
‘――Or make profits in some other way?’
(TL/N: Gold mine, as in a metaphorical sense.)
If you were planning a coup d’etat, then money would be a big problem.
You couldn’t take the country by yourself.
A lot of manpower is needed as well.
In order to get that many on your side, you need power, and to get that you first need a lot of money.
(Good thing I chose a different way of life this time. I’ll do it. I’ll do it no matter what it takes.)
With this determination in his heart, Isaac fell asleep under the gentle sunlight.
