After taking in her surroundings, Asuna approached me with her sparkling eyes.
Beside her was Jodi-san who seems calm but has the same look in her eyes.
This was because right now, we are inside [Another World].
The moment we went inside, a house greeted our sight.
“This is the same house earlier, right? Amazing! It doesn’t matter whether we use the south or north gate of the town
since it will lead to the same place.”
“A house that you can bring anywhere… it’s my first time hearing this kind of magic.”
Both of them got excited.
Since the house inside [Another World] will also be used by them, I wanted them to see it.
After showing it to them, we went out and then headed to another place. Then, I cast it again before going in for the second time.
And this is the reaction I got.
“Hey, can I see the inside of the house?”
“Of course. After all, we’ll be using it while hunting. Also, I don’t mind if you choose your own room.”
“Arara… we don’t really need to camp anymore, huh?”
It was the young-looking, yet actually a veteran adventurer inside, Jodi-san.
She must have a lot of camping experience.
Jodi-san remained in the living room, looking around here and there, while Asuna was opening every door she could find.
“Amazing! The inside also looks like a proper house. Ne, can I really decide my own room?”
“How about you Jodi-san?”
She looked outside the window with a troubled face.
“Does this place have a concept of daylight?”
“Ah… Now that you mention it…”
Asuna glanced outside the window too.
I also did…and realized…
[Another World] doesn’t have the concept of sun and moon.
It’s not bright but also not dark.
Mysteriously, it’s brightness is fixed but fortunately, it is enough to get by.
Since it is bright, I’ve never thought about its drawbacks. However…
“I see. If it’s like this, sleeping at night is a bit hard.”
“Can it get darker?”
“It’s impossible… Hm, no… I think it can.”
I put out my hand.
Those two, knowing that I’m going to use magic, are showing expectations.
“Come out [Shade]!”
Lower-grade dark spirit, [Shade].
The spirit is shaped like a small ball of darkness.
It’s a complete opposite of fireflies in the night.
I asked this small lump of darkness in front of me.
“Can you wrap this space in darkness?”
The small shade moved up and down.
The next moment, our surroundings became dark.
It’s complete darkness where I can’t even see my own hand.
“Waa! It’s dark!”
“You used spirits to make darkness, I see…”
“Yeah. But, this is too dark… [Salamander]!”
I summoned the lower-grade fire spirits [Salamander].
I can use the light spirit instead but it will be too bright and it will bring a confusing result.
Right now, fire is the best way to complement this darkness.
When [Salamander] got summoned, the room became brighter.
“Ah, this is calming~”
“This is perfect.”
“Let’s light up the fireplace.”
I put the firewood that I stored inside my [Item Box] into the fireplace, and ordered the Salamander to make a fire.
The fire that illuminated the dark really calmed us.
“Somehow, it’s a strange feeling…”
“Yes. But, it’s really calming. If we stay here every time we went hunting instead of camping, I believe that our fatigue will
completely recover by the next day.”
“Un! I always get mosquito bites more than the others. That’s why camping makes me uncomfortable.”
“Then you’re safe now. Since nobody can enter without my permission, you don’t have to worry about mosquitoes.”
“Liam-kun, can you make this darkness a bit lighter?”
“A bit lighter?”
“Yes, I think making it at the level of the usual night-time will be better.”
What Jodi-san said makes sense.
This is too dark.
The place being illuminated by the fire from the fireplace is good and all but other than that, it’s just complete darkness to the point
that I get chills all over.
“Shade, can you adjust the level of darkness?”
Then Shade answered me, its summoner, directly.
“It seems that this child can’t do it. For low-grade spirits, producing darkness is their limit. Adjusting it is for the middle-grade spirits and above.”
“Is that so…”
“Middle-grade spirit, huh… I also want a dark spirit but, it’d be nice if I can summon a middle-grade water spirit too…”
It made me remember Undine who can’t separate seawater.
If I can summon a middle-grade spirit, the things that I can do will also increase.
But it’s hard to find grimoires…
“It can’t be helped. I wish the spirits can grow just like us.”
Asuna and I were surprised at the same time, and we ended looking at each other.
“W, what Liam? Did I say something weird?”
“To think it that came from you…”
I turned my attention to Shade.
I put out my hand and cast a new magic towards it.
Familiar contract magic, [Familia].
Originally, a magic with master-slave relationship shouldn’t have any effect on spirits who already have absolute obedience, but…
The magic light completely enveloped Shade.
It’s the same light as when Asuna and Jodi-san made a contract with me.
(Thank you very much)
I heard a very soft voice.
(With a contract from master, I have evolved into middle-grade spirit.)
And then… the darkness around us became lighter.
It’s not complete darkness like earlier. Instead, it’s the natural darkness that Jodi-san wished.
It has completed my order the moment It became a middle-grade spirit.
“EEEE!? The spirit evolved?”
The two who witnessed the darkness spirit’s evolution first-hand were surprised.
Translator and Editor Notes :
……I don’t know anymore. Asuna’s comment on the first part left me with a bad taste. they way she said that even if they went in from south or north
it will lead to the same place, I mean… it’s not literally another world like a mirror world or anything :(, Liam also had told them the characteristics.
and Jodi who said it’s a magic to bring a house anywhere they go(once again, Liam already told them what kind of magic another world is) ….I just…sigh
the author really just wants to insert dialog he wanted without proper context. And this only degraded the already low point of the girls in my mind, the way the author portrays them to make them look
really stupid rather than clueless.
If he wanted to tell them that it’s a house he can bring with him literally then simple words will suffice since they already understand the characteristic of Another World,
yet the author made it in a roundabout way, it pissed me off.
The magic concept’s also too weird, now he layered contract with a contract, it doesn’t make sense :(.
idk, the quality been really dropping like a wrecking ball dropped in the sea.
in my opinion, this chapter shouldn’t exist. ~Tenka
haaah… it gets tiring… everyone is always surprised. I’m not even surprised anymore. Lmao
It literally started and ended in “Amazing!” The novel title should be “dumb experiments of the amazing liam”. ~Yuranon
