I jolted and opened my eyes.
It seems that I got lost in time while practicing magic and fell asleep.
I got up and did some stretching.
The roof was completed.
But still, my surrounding is all white.
It seems that I had fallen asleep inside [Another World].
Recently, I have taken advantage of [Another World]’s practicality.
Almost every day, I had spent the night here.
Because as long as the caster is inside, this magic won’t disappear.
I’m still far from mastering it. Nevertheless, I still use it then get out after I’m done.
To use it once more, I would summon a brand new space again, and then repeat.
In essence, it’s like an inn that automatically cleans itself.
Once mastered though, I have to leave this habit so I felt like it’s a little wasted.
I can also let people inside this [Another World] space.
There are two conditions to enter.
The first one is when I permit someone to enter, which is pretty obvious.
The second is if someone has a stronger magic power than I.
Imagine it as being an unlocked door that was being held from the inside. If it was forcefully pushed from the outside, the power from both sides will be the deciding factor for it to remain closed or be able to be opened by force.
I honestly thought that this is better than having a poor key or bodyguards.
In short, it is both convenient and safe.
That’s why I decided to sleep inside [Another World] from time to time.
And then… 1 month passed by quickly after I got that grimoire.
Because I had used it continuously, my activation time became greatly shortened.
Right now, I can only cast [Another World] for 10 minutes.
“Mou! This guy is so haaard!”
Inside the forest, surrounded by 100-year-old trees, Asuna and I were fighting with a monster.
It’s a monster that has the appearance of a giant frog, with a body that is close to 2 meters.
Though it looks like a frog, its skin is very tough.
When Asuna attacked it by jumping down from a tree that has a considerable height to stab it, its hard skin just repelled it.
It was akin to a rock.
It’s the name of the monster that we have to subjugate that was requested by the guild.
It seems to be an A-rank request.
For me who has become a knight, the guild seems to imply that this is also a test
to see if I am capable of taking this kind of request.
“Amelia-Emilia-Claudia-O’Salamander, come out!”
While holding the grimoire, I said my chant and summoned 7 [Salamanders].
The fire spirit heeded my command and simultaneously flew to surround the Giant Frog.
Asuna kicked and jumped away from the back of the Giant Frog that she had failed to pierce.
She grabbed the ivy and swung like a pendulum while getting away from it.
Without a moment’s delay, the Salamander hunted the Giant Frog.
It burned the Giant Frog with fire. It looked like a lizard made of fire.
Spirits are using their caster magic power as a medium to keep manifesting into this world.
Some caster also calls it “Incarnation”.
The word’s not far from the truth, because the spirits also have a body-like structure.
Even while being burned, the Giant Frog kept on moving around in an attempt to crush the Salamander’s body with its teeth.
“It seems like fire’s not working. Try striking it with a spear. Hit at the same spot.”
After shouting to her, I chanted once again, and focused all my concentration and fired 7 shots of [Ice Needle] between its eyes.
The ice spear kept hitting the same point one after another. It couldn’t pierce it, but it’s enough to make it stagger.
At that moment, Asuna jumped off.
With her agility, she jumped over the head of the Giant Frog.
Then, with a backhanded grip, she took her stance and swung it down between its eyes.
Bam! Bam! Bam!
It sounded like she’s hitting a hard rock for a few times but, a sound of stabbing flesh can now be heard.
The knife has been stabbed through it.
The Giant Frog roared.
Its crying voice is not that of a frog but more like a beast roaring from pain.
The roar then changed from pain to anger.
It came at us with more killing intent.
The next moment, The Giant Frog opened its mouth and began sucking the surrounding air.
Its body started to expand.
It was already large but it became larger than before.
“It’s here! Get back, Asuna!”
She pull out her knife and jumped back.
After she said that, the expanded Giant Frog began discharging electricity.
This is what makes a Giant Frog troublesome.
When it goes berserk, it expands the body and it also discharges electricity to its surroundings.
The range of this effect, more or less, will cover a 100-meter radius.
There’s no way to escape this in the woods.
I am prepared.
That’s why I only used 7 shots even though I’m chanting earlier.
From the beginning of the battle, I have carried the grimoire in my hands.
At last, I can activate it.
Though she’s confused because it’s her first time seeing it, she still complied with what I said and went inside.
I, too, followed from behind.
We got inside the 2-meter white space.
And outside, the Giant frog began discharging electricity.
It was burning the surrounding vegetation and little animals that weren’t able to run from it but the electricity didn’t
get inside of [Another World] at all.
“Amazing! So you can use a magic like this…”
“It’s because that electricity came from its body. If it is magic, then maybe, it will become dangerous.”
“Is that so?”
“Hee… but this still amazing.”
We kept on watching the Giant Frog from the inside of the completely safe [Another World].
The discharge kept on for about a minute.
It left the surroundings charred-black.
When the discharge stopped, the Giant Frog returned to its original size.
We jumped out from [Another World]
I erased my [Another World] magic, and while holding the grimoire, started the activation… I shoot 7 shots of attack magic to it.
Asuna kept on slashing at the Giant Frog with knives in both her hands.
The Giant Frog was exhausted and only received the attack helplessly.
After successfully evading the most troublesome aspect of the Giant Frog, we kept on concentrating on our attacks and defeated it.
We cleared an A-rank mission with no damage which made the Guild Master shocked.
Translator’s and Editor Notes:
I’m kind of tired with the constant reminding from the author, it feels like it was there just to fill in the word counts.
