Summary
EPISODE 1
(Y/N)’s house life was nothing much to talk about. Her parents weren’t in
a happy marriage by any means, but they didn’t hate each other, so
(Y/N) always saw that as a plus. (Y/N) didn’t know this when she was
younger, but as she grew up and became more aware of the world
around her, she wondered if her parents had ever really loved each
other. Did they marry each other because their quirks were somewhat
compatible? Necromancy and shadow manipulation were sure able to
be strong together, and kind of expected to work together. Plus, with
necromancy being such an unstable and quirk to master, having
shadow manipulation to pick up the slack made the user more
powerful. It made sense that their quirks had had something to do with
why they settled for each other, but she preferred not to push it.
When (Y/N) was born, her father eagerly awaited for the manifestation of
her quirk. He hoped that she would inherit a mixture of both quirks in
order to be a very strong and famous hero in the future, and bring
fortune and fame to the family name. Necromancy was a hard quirk to
control, and an even harder quirk to sell to the public due to the horror
of its nature and the ethics that come with it, and so he wanted to show
the public that necromancy was a quirk that could be heroic, that it
shouldn’t be feared. He had done his hardest to present that to the
public with his time as a pro hero, but he wasn’t satisfied, and figured
that (Y/N) was the key to that, since if she also inherited the shadow
quir, she was bound to be stronger than even her father.
Due to her father being a pro hero, and a somewhat unapproachable yet
successful one at that, The Necromancer was acquainted with Endeavour
whose situation was a bit similar to that of the Necromancer’s.
When (Y/N) was 4 years old, her father visited the Todoroki state, taking
(Y/N) with him.
As her father knocked on the door, (Y/N) became restless.
(Y/N), behave. These people are very important, so you must make an
impression.”
“Impression?” (Y/N) asked, confused as to what her father meant.
Her father shook his head, “you’re too young to comprehend yet, but if
things go well, your future will definitely become that much more
successful with a Todoroki by your side. So, be a good girl and behave.”
The last part was said harshly, his tone suggesting finality.
(Y/N) ducked her head, “yes, father.”
The door to the house finally opened, and (Y/N) was faced with one of
the most beautiful and kind looking woman she had ever seen.
“Reo, it’s so good to see you.” She said, addressing her father. Her eyes
shifted to (Y/N), who fought against the urge to hide. “you must be (Y/N)!
it’s lovely to meet you,” she said as she crouched down to be eye level
I’m Rei Todoroki, please make yourself at home.” She gave (Y/N) the
most disarming smile she had been exposed to yet, not used to such
kind and open gestures from her own parents.
(Y/N) found herself relaxing, “lovely to meet you, Todoroki-san. Please
take care of me.” She bowed softly, and Rei gave a soft laugh, ushering
her and her father inside.
“Please, call me Rei, (Y/N)-chan.”
(Y/N) blushed, pleased, “okay, Rei-san.”
She gave her another beautiful smile as she walked ahead of them.
“You can meet Shouto, (Y/N)-chan.”
(Y/N) once again became anxious at the prospect of meeting more
people, but if they were anything like this kind woman, she thought she
could handle it.
However, that thought was immediately crushed as she caught sight of
him.
“Enji!”(Y/N)’s father exclaimed, “good to see you.”
“Likewise,” his cold, blue eyes fell on (Y/N), you must be (Y/N).”
The vibe (Y/N) was getting from him was completely different from the
Comforting one she felt from Rei. Instead, she felt on edge. So this was
the number two hero
“Pleased, um, pleased to meet you,” she bowed, “please take care of
me.”
“Charming,” Endeavour drawled, his expression not changing, “Rei,
would you take care of (Y/N) whilst Reo and I take care of business?”
“Of course. I’ll call when lunch is ready”
“Thank you” With one last look at (Y/N), he walked away, her father
following. Finally, she was able to breathe easily again.
“Behave, (Y/N).” With that, she was left alone with Rei.
Come along, (Y/N)-chan. Touya, Natsuo and Fuyumi are out right now
but I want you to meet my youngest son, Shouto. I’m sure you two Will
get along splendidly”
(Y/N) followed Rei, and she only had the chance to wish that this Shouto
was more like his lovely mother than his father, before her eyes fell on
possibly the most beautiful boy she had ever seen.
Hewas sitting down on the floor, examining a sort of Japanese picture
book. His eyes eagerly drunk up the images before they looked up at the
sound of their arrival.
At once, (Y/N) was assaulted by the most captivating pair of eyes, one a
deep grey, the other a startling blue. She didn’t think she had ever seen
eyes like his.
“Shouto, this is (Y/N), she is Reo’s daughter. (Y/N), this is Shouto, my
Son”
Shouto quickly put the book aown, standing up and coming closer.
(Y/N) was overwhelmed with the way his eyes never left her own once
drew closer, a friendly smile adorning his face, his eyes more dazzling up
close.
“Hello, nice to meet you.” He bowed slowly, and (Y/N)’s head registered
she should be bowing and greeting him too, but instead she ended up
blurting out, “your eyes are beautiful.”
Shouto quickly jerked upright, his eyes wide, ears red as (Y/N) clamped a
hand over her face. Why did I say that?!
“Oh, um,I mean, just, you’ re, um,” she quickly bowed down. “I’m sorry!”
There was a moment of silence, broken by a soft melodic laugh.
“It’s okay,” she heard him say, but she was too embarrassed to
straighten up. Don’t think this is the kind of impression father wanted
me to give, she thought.
“Hey,” he tapped her on the shoulder, “look at me.”
Reluctantly, she straightened to find him looking at her. He looked
straight into her eyes, and nodded to himself.
“You have beautiful eyes too, (Y/N)-chan.”
She felt her face heat up, and her mouth formed a smile.
“You two, so straightforward” Rei said teasingly, causing Shouto to look
away, an embarrassed flush in place.
Unable to help herself, (Y/N) gestured excitedly at his hair, “so cool!”
Shouto patted his hair self-consciously, smiling at the floor.
“I..I was looking at an All Might picture book. Do you want to see?” he
asked shyly, unable to raise his head.
Y/N) immediately brightened, animatedly responding, “yes, please!”
Rei laughed again. “Alright you two. Go play over there whilst I get lunch
sorted”
And so, (Y/N) and Shouto spent that entire morning fawning over the
picture book, talking about All Might and other heroes until lunch.
After that, Touya, Natsuo and Fuyumi arrived and (Y/N) greeted them,
becoming more shy and staying close to Shouto.
“It’s okay,” he told her, “they’re my siblings. They’re awesome.”
Y/N) smiled, “sorry, I get nervous meeting people.”
Shouto smiled softly, “don’t worry (Y/N), I’m here. If you get scared you
can,” he looked away, not able to look at her directly and said in a dulcet
tone, “you can hold my hand.” (Y/N)’s eyes widened, and he continued
rapidly, “because um, holding my mum’s hand makes me feel better
when I’m nervous, so, yeah, you can hold my hand if you wanna.
She smiled brightly at him and squeezed his hand, “thank you, Shou-
chan.”
His eyes lit up and he squeezed her hand back as the corners of his
mouth turned up.
They had lunch together, and whilst (Y/N) couldn’t help being
intimidated by Endeavour, she felt much more comfortable with Shouto
by her side.
Afterwards, the entire afternoon was spent in a similar manner, (Y/N)
and Shouto looking at picture books and playing around until it was time to go home.
“I had lots of fun today, Shou-chan,” (Y/N) said shyly, “thanks for taking care of me.”
Shouto smiled at her, his eyes shining with happiness, “of course (Y/N). I
really hope to see you again soon.
EPISODE 2
After that, whenever Reo visited the Todoroki state, (Y/N) came along
and kept Shouto busy for the entire day.
“It’s good for you to make friends, specially one as great as young
Shouto,” he explained to her, “hopefully, you two will be great heros in
the future”
“Together?” (Y/N) asked excitedly, to which her father replied,
“together,” in a tone she couldn’t decipher. She didn’t know this back
then either, but her father was pleased she was already making
connections.
(Y/N) was happy enough to be able to see and play with Shouto on a
daily basis, and soon enough, her father even allowed to travel to the
Todoroki’s house on her own, having a family driver take her.
As a child, (Y/N) was extremely happy and upbeat, always curious and
talkative, and though Shouto wasn’t as energetic as her, he quickly
became fond of her and managed to keep up with her and her schemes,
always looking forward to her visits. He loved playing with her and
talking about everything and nothing, her animated way of talking
about the most insignificant things making him more and more fond of
her.
One day, when they were both 5, (Y/N) told Shouto what her father had
told her.
“He said that in the future, you and I are going to be great heroes
together! Isn’t that amazing, Shou-chan?
Shouto smiled softly, “great heroes?”
“Yes! We’re going to use our quirks to become great heroes! l’d really
like that.
Shouto gave her a sidelong look, “I’ve never seen you use your quirk,
but I’ve heard it’s very strong.”
(Y/N) hesitated for a second, but Shouto noticed.
“What is it (Y/N}?”
“Well…it’s just, people don’t like my quirk. They get scared of me.
Shouto frowned, his hand coming up to cup her cheek.
“It’s okay (Y/N). When we become as strong as All Might, everyone will
love you like I do!”
(Y/N)’s eyes brightened, and she threw her arms around him. “Shou-
chan,” she murmured into his shoulder, feeling extremely happy as he
burrowed his face into her neck.
“We’ll be great heroes together, (Y/N)-chan”
(Y/N) gave Shouto a smile, “We will! It’ll be great if it’s the two of us,” she
added, causing Shouto to become flustered.
“How great do you think we’ll be?” he quickly asked to cover up, “like,
All Might great?”
At that, (Y/N) gave a big “whoop!”
“You really do think we can be like All Might?!” she asked excitedly,
“saving people with a smile?”
Shouto gave her a bright smile in return, “I know it (Y/N). We can do
anything together.”
Y/N)’s happiest moments back then always involved Shouto, and in this
moment, sprawled in the grass with Shouto lying next to her, she didn’t
think things could get better. But, even though at that moment, with
Shouto’s smiling and docile posture, (Y/N) felt as though she couldn’t be
happier, things after that went downhill very quickly.
She first began to see the signs the next time she came to see him. Her
father had told her that she wasn’t allowed to visit as much, since
Shouto needed to begin his training, and even though (Y/N) hated that
she couldn’t see him as often as before, she promised she would
treasure the moments she had with him even more.
However, when she came to him next, she was surprised by this
attitude. He no longer seemed as happy as he had been when she had
seen him the week before, seeming more subdued instead, and when
she asked him what was wrong, he just replied that he was tired from
the training
“Oooh, you’re sure working hard, Shou-chan!” (Y/N) said, trying to
encourage him, “l’m proud of you! Let’s become great heroes
someday!” she exclaimed, punching her tiny fist in the air.
Shouto gave her a small tired smile, “yeah” he said softly, his tone dull.
Things only worsened. The next time (Y/N) was allowed to see him, she
was horrified at all the bruises coating his body.
They were lying on his futon side by side, talking about what they had
been up to in the days they hadn’t seen each other.
There was a lull in their conversation as they finished catching each
other up, when (Y/N) broke the silence.
Shou-chan? (YN) asked timidly.
“Yes, (Y/N)?”
“Do you…do you think l’m a freak?” she asked in a bleak tone.
Shouto frowned, sure he must have heard her wrong, but when he
looked at her he found her biting the end of her thumb, something she
did when she was nervous or upset
He sat up quickly and faced her.
“Of course not, (Y/N)! Why would you ask that?”
She looked away, and all the other kids at school thought I was. They say that
my quirkis not natural, that I’m, that I’m.. she trailed off looking
unsure, “that I shouldn’t be around people because I will hurt them, and
I tried to explain to them that that’s not how my quirk works but no one,
no one sees me as anything but a “freak.” And, I mean, I don’t blame
them for thinking that way, guess, it’s just..
She shook her head, “never mind. It’s stupid.”
Shouto took a deep breath, trying to sound composed. “It’s not stupid,
(Y/N). If people are calling you hurtful things, of course it’s not stupid to
be hurt by them.”
“I know, but it’s not the first time people talk about me and my quirk.
But it’s just, now people are actually talking to me about it directly and
they won’t stop calling me a freak, and you know I’m kind of starting to
believe it-“
“(Y/N)!” Shouto came closer and held her hand up to his chest, “you’re
not a freak. Whoever’s calling you that has no idea what they’re talking
about. You’re the most amazing girl in the world, and no one should be
able to talk about you in such a way!” He reached out with his other
hand and gently tilted her chin up so she was looking at him, “mum told
me that sometimes, people lash out at things they can’t understand. It’s
not your fault, (Y/N), it’s theirs, okay? Don’t start believe a bunch of
idiots who have no idea what they’re talking about. You’re wonderful,
(Y/N), don’t let morons tell you otherwise.”
(Y/N)’s eyes were round, tears shimmering at the corners, “Shou-chan…
“It’s true, (Y/N),” he pulled her closer to his chest and rested his chin on
the top of her head, ‘”you’re not a freak. People are just dumb.”
She wrapped her arms around his waist and burrowed her head into his
chest.
They stayed like that for a while, not saying anything, just drinking in
each other’s presence.
“Sooo.. who said that?”
Y/N) pulled away, “what?”
“Give me their names.
(Y/N) blinked.
“l just want to talk.”
Her eyes flickered with shock, then amusement as she burst out
laughing
“Shou-chan! You can’t just beat people up for me
She pushed him away playfully, but Shouto held onto her wrist, trying to
keep a straight face, “I just want to talk.”
“Sure, Shou-chan, sure, her eyes no longer looked unsure and shy,
instead they were sparkling with mirth.
Shouto tugged her down onto the bed, and she fell over with a surprised
squeak.
“Give me their names!” Shouto exclaimed, pinning her down.
Y/N) shrieked with laughter. “no. Shou-chan! Let me go!”
They pushed each other playfully, both laughing and smiling, Shouto
too busy roughhousing to notice that his shirt was riding up. (Y/N)
however, I noticed.
She tensed, and Shouto immediately let go of her.
“(Y/N)? Did I hurt you?” he asked worriedly, his hands reaching towards
her but stopping midway.
“Shou-chan? What’s that” she questioned in a whisper.
Before he could understand what she meant, she was reaching for him,
and too late he realised what she had seen.
He immediately became angry with himself. She made him feel safe
comfortable despite everything that was happening with his father, and
so he had stupidly let down his guard in front of her, and now she
looked upset.
“Shou-chan, what is this?” she questioned, her voice cracking as she
tenderly held his arm, “why are you hurt, Shou-chan, why do you have
all this bruises”
He quickly snatched his arm back, startling (Y/N). “It’s fine, (Y/N),” he
said, trying to keep his voice in check, “the training is a bit hard, and
these look worse than they really are-
to be hurt! Maybe if I tell my father.”
“No!” Shouto exclaimed, his voice echoing. His father would become
upset, probably take it out on him during training. But that wasn’t the
worst part. His father had warned him that he could stop any future
visits from (Y/N), and that’s exactly what would happen if (Y/N) told
anyone.
At that thought, Shouto became so scared that he dropped to his knees
in front of (Y/N). Her visits were the only thing he looked forward to now
her voice and presence are the only thing keeping him sane. He couldn’t
afford to lose that. Call him selfish, but he didn’t want her to be taken
away from him.
“(Y/N)-chan,” he whispered softly, “I just…got so excited at the prospect
of becoming a hero that I pushed myself too far. But l’m fine.”
He raised his eyes to meet hers, and gave her a smile, “we’re going to be
great heroes together, right? So just, trust me and cheer me on, (Y/N).”
“But…. don’t want you to be hurt..” she whispered, a tear falling.
“(Y/N)!” Shouto said, sounding horrified, “please, don’t cry! Heroes,
heroes get hurt, remember? But we always get up and come back
stronger
“But, Shou-chan-“
“I’m fine (Y/N)-chan” he said, again hugging her to his chest so he didn’t
have to look into her eyes, “I’m fine. I don’t want you to worry, I promise
I’m fine! Have you ever lied to you?”
He felt her shaking her head.
Yes, (Y/N), so don’t worry! This is all part of my training, I promise from
now I’ll be more careful and won’t get hurt, okay?”
“You really promise?”
“I don’t lie to you” Shouto felt guilty, noting that for the past few
months he’d been doing nothing but lie to her, “so yes, I will
(Y/N) pulled back to look at him, and after a while softly nodded, “I don’t
like it, but…I’Il trust you.”
He gave her a bright smile, trying to make it as genuine as possible,
“thank you, (Y/N)”
He turned away, changing the topic and quickly making the atmosphere
light again, but he didn’t miss the worried looks she sent him, the way
she was more careful, gentler, when she touched him.
And then, a few weeks later, the true horror of the Todoroki household
became too great, too suffocating, prompting Rei to do something that
would completely change Shouto from the loving, cheerful boy she used
to know.
EPISODE 3
After a few weeks of not visiting Shouto, (Y/N) asked her father about it.
“Father, why haven’t I been allowed to visit Shouto?”
“Personal matters, (Y/N). You’re not going to visit him for a while.”
“Is he okay?” she asked worriedly.
“He’s fine, (Y/N), but there’s a lot going on in that house right now, so
you have to stay out of it until say so, you hear me? No more visits for
now, and that is final.”
“..yes father.”
After a few days, when her father was at work and she had club after
school, she snuck away from school and instead walked to Shouto’s
house. She told herself that she was just going to do a quick check in
with him, then return back to school before/just as club is over, then she
could pretend she had been feeling sick and skipped club in the
bathroom or something. His house wasn’t too far away from her school,
and she could get there and back quickly if she ran.
She thought it was a pretty good plan to be honest, not thinking clearly,
focused only on making sure that Shouto was really okay. After she
found out he was getting hurt during practice, she hadn’t been able to
brush away the worry, and now that she wasn’t allowed to see him her
worry only intensified.
When (Y/N) got to the mansion, she felt something was off, and
immediately became worried for Shouto.
She rang the bell, and instead of being greeted by Rei or Shouto as
usual, it was Fuyumi who opened the door, her knees covered in mud,
wearing gardening gloves. Her eyes widened.
“(Y/N)!” she said, opening the door to let (Y/N) in, “I didn’t know you
were coming! Would you like some tea?”
“No thank you, Fuyumi-chan, l’m here to see Shou-chan. Is he okay?”
she asked worriedly. Fuyumi hesitated for a few seconds.
“Have tea with me first,” she decided, guiding (Y/N) to the kitchen.
Once there, Fuyumi quickly brewed some tea whilst (Y/N) watched her
work, trying to work out what the different aura in the house was.
She was broken out of her thoughts as Fuyumi placed some tea in front
on her and sat down. (Y/N) hesitantly reached for her tea, slowly
bringing it to her lips.
“Did you want to say something, Fuyumi-chan?” (Y/N) asked after
Fuyumi had been lost in thought for some time.
“(Y/N), does your father know you’re here?
At that (Y/N) flushed, but since Fuyumi seemed to already know, she
shook her head.
I see. (Y/N)..you can’t see Shouto today. Not for a while”
“Why not? My father said so, but he wouldn’t tell me why. Is he okay?”
“He is…fine” Fuyumi said,”but it’s just for the best that you don’t see
him for a while”
“But”
“No buts, (YN),” Fuyumi said firmly, as she finished her own tea. “It’s for
the best.
There was a moment of silence, and then (Y/N) Stood.
“Oh…okay. I’m sorry for bothering you, I’ll leave now then.”
“I’ll walk you out,” Fuyumi said, rising, but (Y/N) shook her head.
“It’s okay Fuyumi chan. I don’t want to be a bother, and,” she gestured
at Fuyumi’s soil stained clothes, “I’ll leave you so you can get back to
working in the garden. I’d love to see it when I can visit Shou-chan
again!”
Fuyumi smiled softly, assuming (Y/N) had come with her driver, and
ruffled (Y/N)’s hair. “Alright (Y/N). Get back home safe.”
“I will,” she said, smiling, as her and Fuyumi walked off in opposite
directions. (Y/N) walked over to the door, opened it then shut it again
quickly, and without hesitation quickly made her way to Shouto’s room.
I Need to do this quickly…if l’m caught, I could be in trouble.
When she got to his door, she knocked softly. “Shou-chan?”
No answer.
“Shou-chan? Are you there?
She waited a few seconds, and when there was no answer, she opened
the door slowly and looked in.
The room was surrounded in darkness, and as she slowly walked in it
took her eyes a moment to adjust to the low lighting. She looked around
and found that the curtains were shut firmly, and Shouto was sitting in
the corner of the room, head buried between his knees with a blanket
Wrapped around him.
“Shou-chan!” (Y/N) exclaimed, relieved to find him and she rushed
towards him, causing him to lift his head
(Y/N) stopped dead on her tracks as she looked at him.
The left side of his face as wrapped in bandages, so she couldn’t see his
left eye, but the blank look in his right eye made her entire body shiver.
He had never once looked at her like that before, his eyes had always
been expressive, and one of her favourite traits from him.
“Shou-chan? Are you okay? What happened?!” she approached him
again, but he remained unmoving.
Just as she was about to reach him, he spoke.
“Leave.”
(Y/N) stopped in her tracks.
“What?”
Leave. Get out. l don’t want to see you.”
He buried his face between his knees again, but (Y/N) was faster.
“Shou-chan! What” she stopped in front of him, and tilted her head
slightly to look him in the eye.
She didn’t know what to say, so many questions running through her
head, wanting desperately to reach out and touch him, but his eerie
silence prevented her from saying or doing anything.
“What happened, Shou-chan? You’re hurt, please tell me-“
“You shouldn’t be here,” he said in a toneless voice. ” Get. Out.”
“But you’re hurt! Why” she reached for his face, saying “did this happen?
Is Rei-san-” before she could finish asking if his mother had bandaged
his face and her whereabouts, his eye widened and suddenly cold fury
was sparked, his left hand seizing her wrist in a vice grip.
“Ow!” she yelped, and then froze as a horrible sensation, a sharp pain,
Overrode her system.
“Don’t you dare talk about my mother” he growled, his voice laced with
anger and pain, and finally (Y/N) was able to find her voice and regain
control of her limbs.
“Shou-chan!” she gasped, and the pain in her voice broke Shouto out of
his trance, “you’re hurting me.”
The smell of burning flesh, something that was now sickeningly familiar
to Shouto, filled his nostrils and he quickly released her wrist, only for
(Y/N) to stumble back and land on the floor, tears in her eyes.
She brought her right wrist close to her body, and Shouto felt his insides
turned to lead as he saw the burnt skin of her wrist.
He wanted to rush to her, to help her, to apologise, to hold her close, but
he was unable to move. When a loud sob reached his ears, he was finally
able to take a step towards (Y/N), her pained face making him panic and
want to Scream
However, as soon as he moved, (Y/N) flinched back, her eyes looking
Scared. Scared of him.
She scrambled up, and without looking back ran out of his room.
Shouto wanted to run after her, but when he tried to step forward, his
knees shook and he collapsed onto the floor. His head was a mantra of
I just hurt her. I just hurt her,I just hurt her,I just hurt her..
Distantly he heard the soft sound of the front door shutting over the
ringing in his ears, wishing more than anything that (Y/N) was okay.
(Y/N), he thought, pained, I’m sorry. I ‘m so sorry.
He didn’t know how long he stayed in that position, his heart beating so
fast, his pulse roaring in his ears, his hands shaking.
I Have to stay away from her. She wouldn’t want me close after this
anyway, and don’t deserve to be by her side.
So much for the strongest heroes together, huh?
Meanwhile, (Y/N) ran as fast as she could, vaguely following the route
back to her school. The skin of her wrist burned painfully, and she could
barely think past the pain and panic and hurt. Not because she was
burnt, but because it was Shouto who hurt her. And Shouto was clearly
hurt too.
After a while she found herself in her school playground, making a
beeline for the toilets.
She put her wrist under burning water, which helped a little with the
pain. She was finally able to clear her head, but her mind then began to
race with thoughts.
What happened to Shou-chan? Why did he look so sad? Why did he hurt
me? How did he get hurt?
She stared at her wrist, her mind panicking as she saw that if you looked
close enough, you could probably work out that it was a hand-shaped
burn. On the side of her wrist, there were visible finger shaped marks,
and (Y/N)’s mind raced.
If father sees this he might Work out that it was shouto who did this!
What am l going to do?! she thought frantically. She was Scared because
she had no idea of what was going on with him, and she didn’t want to
get him into any more trouble.
Plus, he had tried to warn her when he told her to leave. His father tried
to keep her away, and so did Fuyumi and so did Shouto. This was all her
fault, and Shouto was going to have to pay for it.
She stayed in the toilet for as long as she could, pouring cold water into
her wrist, until she realised her father’s driver was going to be picking
her up soon. She quickly got a handkerchief and wrapped it around her
wrist carefully, and pulled the sleeves of her blazer so her wrist was
covered.
Once she got home, she looked through her clothes, trying to find that
pair of fingerless gloves that she knew could cover her wrist. She had
given some thought as to what her costume would be if she were a hero,
and she watched shows where characters wore these kinds of gloves,
which she always thought were cool, so she should be able to pull this
off. It’s not like her father or mother paid enough attention to her
besides checking up on her studies and training.
She stayed in her room for the rest of the night, pretending that she was
feeling tired, and kept her wrist iced until it was just sore, and not
burning painfully.
It’s okay, this will work. And I’ll look for a way to cover it without the
gloves too. But for now, this will be okay
Meanwhile, Shouto hadn’t moved from his spot in his room. He felt
absolutely terrible at what he had done, and every time (Y/N)’S scream
of pain echoed in his head he felt like tearing his hair out.
“l hurt her,” he whispered to himself, “I hurt my best friend.”
He was waiting for the other shoe to drop, waiting for his father to storm
in and demand an explanation, furious after he had presumably heard
the news from (Y/N)’s father, but to Shouto’s confusion and surprise, his
father never came demanding answers. Instead, the day went on like
normal, but no news about (Y/N) came. He approached Fuyumi at night
“Hey sis,” he said cautiously, stepping into his room.
“Shouto!” she greeted him with a smile, “are you okay?”
“How is (Y/N)?” he asked, not wanting to drag this out longer than it had
to be.
“(Y/N)?”
“Yes, how is she?
Fuyumi regarded him in silence for a minute, “do you miss her, Shouto?
Would you like to see her?
He desperately wanted to say yes. Yes, I Miss her so much it hurts. Yes,
seeing her would be amazing.
But his mind flashed back to her pained cry, the tears and fear in her
eyes, and he shook those thoughts away violently.
“No.I don’t want to see her. I want to know if she’s fine”
Fuyumi frowned, “why wouldn’t she be?”
“I don’t know sis! Okay, just”
A sob broke from his throat before he could stop it, and Fuyumi’s eyes
widened as she quickly stepped towards her.
“Shouto-“
“Don’t come closer!” he demanded, on guard. He wasn’t going to hurt
someone else he loved. He wasn’t going to be like his father
“(Y/N) is fine, Shouto,” Fuyumi said, soothingly, “if she wasn’t, father
would have heard about it. So don’t worry, okay?”
Shouto shook his head, “I’m going to bed. See you tomorrow.”
And without another word, he angrily wiped the tears from his eyes as
he stomped back to his room.
That night was filled full of restless sleep, his mind flashing with his
mother’s crazed eyes, (Y/N)’s frightened ones.
He could only lay in bed alone as his self-loathing and hatred increased
with every flash of his mother’s face, of (Y/N)’s hurt expression.
EPISODE 4
It was far easier than it should have been to hide the burn from her
parents. (Y/N)’s mother was always travelling, and when she was at
home she barely paid (Y/N) any attention. Her father on the other hand
was plenty busy with his work at the agency, and he was hardly the
most attentive father around.
The only time when her father gave her any attention was later on when
they finally started training, and he didn’t question her wearing the
gloves, since they didn’t interfere with her quirk.
And so, after the accident, Shouto and Y/N went their separate ways, or
they tried anyway. (Y/N) still wasn’t allowed to visit Shouto, but she knew
that it had less to do with what had happened in the first place to hurt
him, then it had to do with him not wanting to see her.
(Y/N)’s father told her that they would start training soon, and (Y/N)
Would then have something else to focus on. But still, she couldn’t stop
thinking about Shouto, wanting desperately to see him.
Don’t be stupid, (Y/N), she told herself, look how that worked out last
time.
They weren’t kept away for long however, as a few months after, when
the new academic year began, Shouto was transferred to (Y/N)’s school.
“Endeavour thought it made more sense,” her father explained to her
when he told her that was happening, “the school is closer to their
house than the previous one, since Endeavour is more busy with work
but he still wants to keep a close eye on Shouto.” He turned to face her,
and said seriously, “(Y/N), Shouto has been going through a…rebellious
phase. He’s a bit of a troublesome child now, but you can help him,
right?”
(Y/N) frowned at her father, but nodded, “I guess so, father. But, what
about Rei-san?”
Her father is tense, “Rei-san is going to be away for a while, (Y/N). IË’s
personal family matters, so you’re not to talk to Shouto about her, you
understand?
She frowned, confused and worried, but said “yes, father.”
“Good, that’s settled then. Be sure to help him settle in tomorrow,
goodnight, he said, a clear dismissal.
“Goodnight, father.”
Then the next day at school, (Y/N) was nervous. She wanted to see him of
Course, but after the last time…those feelings conflicted with the
wariness she now felt towards him.
He didn’t mean to hurt me, she told herself as she absentmindedly
rubbed her gloved wrist, it was an accident.
She waited outside the gates for him, and soon enough she felt the air
leave her lungs as she caught sight of his bi-coloured hair
Shou-chan?” she said, approaching him slowly, not sure if she should
get closer.
Upon inspection, she saw that he looked the same as he always had,
except that when he raised his head, she caught sight of the big burn
mark scarring the left side of his face.
She fought hard to not give him a visible reaction, and instead gave him
a hesitant smile.
“It’s good to see you again, Shou-chan, she whispered, unconsciously
fidgeting, causing his eyes to slide down to her hands. She felt the
weight of his gaze on her gloved wrist, something flashing in his eyes.
She immediately stopped, placing her hands back down and behind her
back, fidgeting outside of his gaze
He frowned at her, and for a moment she thought that he was going to
say something, but instead he walked past her.
She stood there for a moment, dumbfounded.
“Wait-wait up, Shou-chan!” she said as she jogged up to him, “what are
you”
“I thought last time i saw you, I told you to leave me alone,” he told her
in an even tone, not bothering to look at her.
“I know, but-“
“This changes nothing. The fact that I’m here changes nothing. We’re
not friends anymore, (Y/N), so just,” he took a deep breath, his next
words coming out in a dark, menacing tone, “leave me alone.”
She immediately recoiled, giving him an opening to slip into the school,
her eyes following him.
Throughout the day, she tried to approach him a few more times, but
each time he either ignored her or flat out told her to piss off.
By the end of the day, she still hadn’t made progress.
Maybe he just needs more time, she thought on the way home, after all,
we’re going to be great heroes together someday!
However, their relationship seemed to be at a standstill after that. They
saw each other at school but didn’t talk, yet Shouto begrudgingly let her
sit with him at lunch after failing to get her to leave. He still pretended
she didn’t exist, but she figured that was as good as she was going to
get.
They also saw each other at their father’s events and sometimes when
they visited each other’s houses on business, but (Y/N) found herself
getting further and further away from him as the years went on. When
they were forced to be in the same room, he was mostly silent, or he
addressed her in the politest, shortest way possible. They both enrolled
at the same school, and ended up in the same classes. Yet he never
approached her. He didn’t go out of his way to avoid her, but he also
made no effort to seek her out.
Both (Y/N) and Shouto trained hard day after day with their own fathers,
which kept them plenty busy, but not busy enough that (Y/N) didn’t still
feels like a part of her was missing. Her best friend.
Does she even know him anymore? Is his favourite colour still blue? Does he
still love cold soba noodles? Does he still refuse to fall asleep with his
back to the door because he thinks monsters will sneak up behind him what
if he does?
When they were twelve, tinally, Shouto spoke to her after years of pretty
much radio silence. But what he had to say almost made her wish that
he hadn’t spoken to her at all.
For the past few months, (Y/N) had started to become antsy at the
silence between them when they had lunch together, so she had
resorted to talking to him again, just like they used to when they were
kids
She talked to him about the most random stuff, the dog she had played
with at the park, the new movie she saw, the anime she had caught up
on, when he responded for the first time.
That day, (Y/N) had noticed a weird tension hanging around him but
kept silent, hoping that he would open up about what was bothering
him himself, when he finally snapped.
“I hope you know, he said in a cold tone, interrupting her ramble about
how Sasuke is so ridiculous, honestly, Naruto should just kiss him to get
him to calm the hell down, “I have no intention of playing house with
you.”
(Y/N) tilted her head towards him, giving him a confused look. “Sorry?”
“My parents were always in a loveless marriage. They were in an
arranged quirk marriage, did you know that? My dad never loved my
mum, and my mum never loved my dad in return. It drove my mother
Crazy, having to live with someone like him. She was such an amazing
woman, good and kind hearted, but my father’s actions made her snap
and in a moment of weakness, she,” his voice broke with emotion, and
(Y/N) wanted more than anything to touch him, she hadn’t touched him
in years, when he whispered, ” she poured boiling water on my face.”
(Y/N)’s eyes widened, her bento clattering to the ground as a horrified
gasp left her lips.
“Shou-chan”
“Don’t call me that!” he snapped. “Stop with the act, would you?
Would never marry you, quirk marriage or not. Ever.”
(Y/N) froze, her eyebrows furrowing, an incredulous look coming to her
eyes.
“Quirk marriage? What are you talking about?
Shouto scoffed harshly, “oh, so you don’t know? Don’t make me laugh.
That’s the reason you’ve been trying to get in my good graces again,
isn’t it? I’ve noticed how you’ve doubled the efforts in trying to talk to
me, how you seem to want my attention desperately, you attention
seeker. You’ve become such an annoyance, and I won’t”
“What are you talking about?” she repeated, finally getting angry,
“attention seeking? Getting in your good graces? Are you stupid?!” she
raised her voice, hoping to convey him the truth, “I’m not doing
anything because I expect to get something back from you, you idiot!
I’ve been making an effort to talk to you because I miss you, nothing
else! Because I want my best friend back!
At that, Shouto froze.
“I’ve been trying to be so patient, and give you space for years but
just…miss you so much it hurts, Shou-chan,” she finally broke, her eyes
becoming shiny with unshed tears, “you… didn’t know anything about
this at all? Are you saying our parents are arranging a quirk marriage
between us? We’re only kids!”
He examined her in silence, his cold, indifferent eyes giving no emotions
away, “they’re not, but they’re thinking about it. And I’m not an idiot,
you’re playing a part, I know you are. My father knows that I won’t along
with this, so he told you to try to convince me-“
“I’m not playing a part!” she exclaimed becoming angrier by the second,
“I’ve done nothing but try to help you and be a good friend-“
“Good friend?” he laughed harshly, nothing like the soft, hearty laugh he
had as a child, “don’t make me laugh. We’re not friends (Y/N), not
anymore, and we never will be. I refuse to marry you, no matter what
you do.”
“Will you stop talking about marriage? I don’t-“
“(Y/N),” Shouto said in a tone of voice so cold that it made her stop her
sentence, “I’m going to make it clear now so that you stop trying,
because frankly, it’s quite pathetic. I have no intention of ever being on
friendly terms with you, so give it up. No matter what happens, I
couldn’t care less about you and your plans.”
“How can you say that?” (Y/N) asked, “we’re going to be great heroes
together, remember? We”
“We’re not going to be anything together. Get that through your thick
head, will you?”
He stood up, looking down at her with the same blank look he always
seemed to have in his eyes. He turned away from her as she desperately
tried to think of the right thing to say next.
He looked back at her one more time, his eyes conveying coldness and…
Y/N)’Shut churned, her heart stopping for a second. Hatred. She had
never seen him so hateful, not since the day he was hurt.
Don’t try anything on me again. This time, stay away”
(Y/N) could do nothing but watch him walk away, confused,
heartbroken.
Was that how he really felt? Does he really hate me?
Do you really not care about me, Shouto? she whispered, Shouto too
far gone to be able to hear her.
CHARACTER QUIRK
File: (L/N) (Y/N)
Age: 15
Quirk: Otherworldly manipulation (from father) and Shadow
manipulation (from mother).
Necromancy: User can summon and manipulate the dead and souls,
as well as communicate with them.
Manipulation of Dead Bodies/Reanimation:
– User can animate corpses and dead beings, can use them as “puppets”
or give them simple orders to carry out.
They are under the user’s control, but because the corpses are
mindless, they have to be carefully monitored.
o Limitations:
o The undead may turn against the use or may become uncontrollable
and dangerous.
O Summoning requires the user’s blood.
o Limited amount of corpses she can animate and control at once.
o Can only be active for a limited time, is very draining.
O Reanimation Negation Process that nullifies the process of
reanimation, preventing the dead from becoming Zombies and
maintaining their deaths.
Manipulation of Souls Soul summoning:
User can summon spirits to talk or serve the user by receiving spiritual
assistance/absorbing souls to enhance their powers and attacks, or to
create shields.
With practice, user may be able to also manipulate the souls of living
beings, bringing them under their thrall, absorbing their souls or killing
them by tearing out their soul entirely. Souls that have already passed
away aren’t affected. User does this by touch, and requires concentration.
If used on living people, since she is absorbing a person’s spiritual
essentially, this can cause her to absorb their quirks temporarily.
o Limitations:
o If a soul doesn’t want to be summoned, they might resist the
summoning
o Summoned souls have a mind of their own.
o Limited by how many souls she can absorb.
stealing’ a person’s quirk can be fatal for the person.
o Shield has a limit for what it can absorb depending on its strength.
General necromancy limits:
Weak against Animancy and Life-Based powers.
Filth Manipulation may be used against this power.
Other Powers:
Death empowerment:
User become stronger, faster, more durable, etc. by the deaths of
others, unlocking abilities related to the affinity and enhancing the
existing powers.
Sensitivity to Death:
User is able to read the mortality of others through an aura, which
flickers when someone is close to death.
User able to sense the passing of others during or immediately prior to
their deaths, which she perceives as a ringing in her ears.
Darkness/Shadow manipulation:
Users can shape and manipulate darkness and shadows.
Darkness can be converted into solid substances (darkness
solidification)-can create beings/weapons out of it (animation of
darkness) -usually creates tentacles/tendrils/threads to attack/bind.
Shadow Marionettes use a person’s shadow to control them.
o Limitations:
o Unable to create darkness/shadow, limited to manipulating only from
already existing sources.
o Distance, mass, precision, etc. depend upon of the knowledge, skill,
and the strength of the user.
o Light Manipulation and Light Generation are effective against this
power, but darkness can overpower light as well.
Shadow Travel:
User is able to travel through shadows herself as a form of
teleportation.
o Limitation:
o Shadow-travelling across great distances tires her considerably and
Overusing it will cause her body’s molecular structure to fall apart at the
molecular level and kill her.
So, just a bit of background. (Y/N)’s father is a pro hero who works at the
same agency as Endeavour. However, because of the issue of using
necromancy to manipulate people’s dead bodies for combat (especially
victims), Reo doesn’t do much fieldwork and instead uses his quirk to
communicate with souls and looking over bodies of victims to find
traces of runaway villains, which Endeavour then apprehends.
It should be noted that Reo is able to use his quirk to manipulate bodies
only in a state of emergency where it could save civilians, but not only
for combat alone. Plus, since it is a hero’s job to ensure there are no
casualties or a few casualties as possible, it’s not always possible to
manipulate dead bodies anyway. Also notably, whilst it is frowned upon
using victims’ bodies for combat, even when it can save more people, a
lot of people don’t have an issue with the use of dead villain’s bodies for
Combat.
So this is the main character’s quirk! It’s quite a lot and the quirk
is basically inspired by Shikamaru’s quirk in Naruto and a bit of Nico
from Percy Jackson. The main character in this story will mostly use
the shadow quirk to fight, as well as use her power with souls to
boost her power, so the actual necromancy will probably?) be
saved for later.
A lot of the info used here I got from the wiki pages for necromancy
and Nico’s page, and made some small changes or took away/added
Some powers.
EPISODE 5
After (Y/N)’s talk with Shouto, she racked her brain to try to find
evidence of their parents organising an arranged marriage between
them, but only became more confused.
Is that why they had been introduced in the first place when they were
four? That couldn’t be possible, right? Is that what her father meant by
things being easier with a Todoroki by her side?
It’s not like (Y/N) and Shouto’s quirks were particularly compatible, but
she guessed that a combination, if they both managed to master their
quirks were indeed powerful.
She felt stupid now. If he found out about this and saw her getting
friendlier after leaving him alone and respecting his boundaries for so
long, of course he was bound to get the wrong idea.
But still, she thought to herself, fuming, that doesn’t give him the right
to treat me like he does. l’m not like my father, and I’ve never thought
that was anything like Endeavour, even after he became more
withdrawn, so why can’t he at least trust me?
Which was how (Y/N) became more determined to prove that she wasn’t
like their parents. How could Shouto even think she was in on this whole
‘quirk marriage’ thing?
Quirk marriage. What the hell are they thinking? As ifl would want to
marry anyone for anything other than love! Plus, we’re only kids. And
Shouto… Shouto hates me now.
She looked down at her lap, blinking rapidly to stop tears from falling.
I’m going to prove it to him. But how can? Being near him only makes
him think worse of me, he wants nothing to do with me and refuses to
listen, so… maybe l should follow my own path?
That night, she thought long and hard about her future. She knew that
She definitely wanted to be a pro hero, and her dream school was UA.
She had her path cut out for her, but she realised, after giving it a lot of
thought, that she didn’t want that, At the rate of her training and her
father’s connections, she was bound to get into UA by recommendation,
along with Shouto.
But Shouto and l are really different, aren ‘t we? lt took me a long time to
see it, but we really are.
She realised, what did she have to lose? She was working extremely
hard, and she believed she was strong, deviating from what was
expected of her would be refreshing, would allow her to put more
distance between her and father and his expectations.
And so, she came up with a solution after thinking about it for a while
and doing some deep research should her father disagree.
“You want to transfer schools?” her father asked at dinner, as her
mother kept eating her meal, only a slight frown in place to prove she
was also listening
“Yes, father. I want to be able to take the entrance exam for UA when the
time comes, I want to prove to myself that I can get in without
recommendations. And my school, well, it’s a good school, but I want to
experience more things before I get into UA. I can’t learn more from mny
classmates or teachers that I haven’t already been getting, and I know
that I can definitely settle and that a change will do me good.
“Why don’t you want to get in through recommendation?
“just… know l’m going to train to be the best herol can be! And I want
to do it on my terms. And I know being a hero is the thing should be
focusing the most on right now, but this school has an amazing
reputation for its arts program.”
“Arts are a waste of time. don’t mind your hobby.”
“And it will stay a hobby, father. You’re always telling me l need to look
out for myself, figure out what I want and be more independent. Sure,
this school may not be as prestigious, but I know I can study hard and
focus on becoming a hero, as well as enjoy my time left before I have to
throw everything away and dedicate myself solely to becoming a hero.
That was our deal, wasn’t it father? I could have a ‘normal’ childhood if I
dedicate myself solely to UA when the time comes. The school l’m at
now only focuses on academics and heroics, and I will study that twice
as hard if it meansI get to have only two years of a normal school
experience before UA. After that, all my efforts will go towards my
education at UA. It falls to reason that I should have a say in how that
goes for now?”
“You’re very well spoken for a child, he says, looking at he, “have you
thought a lot about this?”
“I have kept up and gone beyond my tutoring, and this is something I’ve
been wanting for a while, she lied. Plus, I’ve been rehearsing this
argument for days in my head, she thought.
“I’m not sure you should be making these kinds of decisions, (Y/N),” he
said looking doubtful.
(Y/N) was about to argue when, surprisingly, her mother spoke up.
Oh, come off it Reo, she has a point. I told you that having her go to
that strict, boring school was only going to restrict her in the long run.”
She shook her head, “she’s a child, of course she wants more variation.”
“What, like you? Should we allow her to go wherever she pleases
anytime for an unknown amount of time like you do, then?” Reo asked,
challengingly.
Her mother rolled her eyes, not rising to the bait, “l’m just saying, (Y/N)
is smart and hardworking. She’s never given us trouble before, she’s
extremely bright for her age and always has been, so if she wants to
have a change of scenery for two years before she studies to become a
hero, I say let her.”
Reo looked at her thoughtfully, “but this school (Y/N) wants to go to is
much less charitable than the current one.”
“And that means, (Y/N) will have to work harder for it, which she has
already said she’ll do.”
They both stared at each other, seemingly having a non-verbal
Conversation.
Finally, her father sighed. “Well,” her finally said slowly, “I trust you will
keep up your studies and training. If I have a reason to believe you’re
slacking, or that this school is not good for you, you will go back or
transfer to another school. Are we clear?”
(Y/N)’s heart started beating faster, and she smiled up at her father.
“Thank you, father”
That night, as she went to her room, her relief was palpable. She really
was looking forward to this, not knowing that she really wanted it to
happened until she actually considered it. For the past few years, her focus
had solely been on academic improvement, as well as combat and quirk
training. Moving to a new school would give her a change she needed.
Who knows, maybe she could actually make some friends there, since
all the people at her current school seemed to think she was below
them, or they were scared or disgusted of her, often speaking behind her
back. Though that had somehow wound down as time went by, she
knew their feelings remained the same.
Plus, as much as she hated to admit it, she felt that being close to
Shouto at the moment wasn’t good for either of them. Maybe if she gave
him space, he could actually clear his head, sort his feelings out and
think things through clearly next time.
She tried not to let it show that it hurt when he ignored her, when he
looked at her with that blank gaze. She wasn’t going to let him bring her
down anymore. She was going to get stronger, become happier and
more independent so that he could finally understand that she wasn’t
against him.
“He’s hurt me a lot, and if this keeps up, I may not be able to keep my
spirits up,” she murmured to herself, trying for reassurance. “I Want us to
be friends again one day, and for that to happen…I can’t keep hurting
him or give him more opportunities to hurt me. I don’t want to one day,
be so hurt that I give up on him. The best thing for us is distance,” she
said, with finality.
The next week, Shouto gave her the same silent treatment until she left
for Aldara Junior High
EPISODE 6
In truth, as much as she was excited to be there, she was also terrified to
start anew at a new school. She wasn’t very sociable and so she wasn’t
good at making friends. At her old school, people would either stay
away from her, insult her or speak behind her back, so she stopped
approaching people. As a result, she was well awkward, not knowing
how to act with other people, or how to make friends, she never had
anyone but Shouto.
Regardless, she was determined to make it through these next two years
until she went to UA. Taking a deep breath, she steeled herself as she
took a step forward to enter the school, only to immediately start as she
heard a loud bang from her right.
She turned to look, and found a tall blonde boy towering over a short
boy with dark green hair. The green haired boy was in the process of
getting up from being knocked down, and she felt anger rise in her as
she watched the blond grab the green haired boy by the lapels of his
blazer, saying, “well look at that, shitty Deku really is a fucking waste of
space. Learn your place, you useless nerd! as he pushed the boy back
down.
Before she could stop herself, she found herself changing direction as
she approached them with fast steps just as the green haired boy stood,
and walked backwards, bumping into her.
“Oops…” she murmured as she touched her forehead where her and the
boy had collided.
“Oh no! l’m so sorry, I’m so sorry.. he spoke frantically, turning around
and placing his hands on her shoulders to steady her, “are you okay?
She glanced up and was met with a large pair of green eyes settled on
the boys’ soft and kind looking face, his freckles standing out against his
embarrassed blush.
“I’m alright.. she replied, taking in his rumpled state, are you okay?
Before he could answer, a loud obnoxious laugh broke through to them.
“Hahaha, look at that! Shitty nerd Deku managed to crash into an idiot.”
She looked to the source, immediately becoming irritated as she met
this guy’s fiery red eyes.
“Kacchan!” the guy with the green eyes spoke, looking frightened,
“Sorry, I was just going to get your books.”
“Too late for that, fucking Deku.”
He stepped forward and looked down at (Y/N), frowning, “never seen
you around here before, who the fuck are you?
(Y/N) was quickly becoming more and more annoyed with this guy’s
demeanour, especially when she looked at the broccoli boy’s scared face.
“I’m new,” she said curtly, and without waiting for his response, she
turned back to face green eyes, “I’m so sorry,I didn’t see you coming.
I’m (L/N) (Y/N), I hope I didn’t hurt you…?”
The boy stared at her with wide eyes, then stuttered, “Midoriya lzuku,
it’s all my fault (L/N)-san, you don’t have to apologise!”
She gave him a soft smile, “Of course I do. Neither of us saw where we
were going, and I was walking too fast, so l’m partly at fault here too.
Don’t worry about
“Hey!” the guy with red eyes barked, annoyed, “don’t fucking ignore me,
you moronic piece of shit!”
Irked, but trying to keep her cool, she turned to him. “I don’t recall
having enough interest in you to be able to ignore you in the first place,
she replied in a flat tone.
“What the fuck did you just” he snarled taking a step closer, but she
didn’t back down.
“Let me guess, short fuse, you’re the school bully? I know your type.
Your ego is probably inflated to the size of Mount Everest, to the point
where even you can’t see past it to your shitty personality.”
Izuku’s jaw dropped, and Bakugou’s jaw clenched.
“What the fuck.”
“Is that your default phrase, you angry pom-pom? What were you doing
to Midoriya-kun?”
At that, the guy’s eyebrows rose, and he smirked, “So you were
interested?”
“Interested in stopping you from taking advantage of others and hurting
him. What’s wrong with you?”
His face grew enraged once again but she continued “I mean, l guess
can’t blame you for needing to” she couldn’t help but let out a
suggestive tone, “overcompensate…”
At that the guy grew red in the face, and (Y/N) thought she was enjoying
this, too much.
“But you know, you don’t need to take it out on -“
Before she could finish her sentence, Bakugou snarled as he grabbed
her by the shoulder and shoved her against the wall hard, caging her in.
“Kacchan!” Izuku exclaimed, rushing forwards but a glare from Bakugou
made him pause.
(Y/N) blinked against the sudden pain in her head, the slowly looked up
at Bakugou, giving him a smirk.
“Oh? Hit the nail right on the head, did I ‘Kacchan’
“That’s it, I’l fucking kill you!” he snarled and raised his other hand, and
for a moment, (Y/N) closed her eyes, bracing herself for the impact, but
as soon as she did that she became furious with herself, remembering
Shouto’s grip on her wrist.
Am I really going to let people keep hurting me and walking over me?
she asked herself before she used her free hand to reach out and grab
his raised hand before he could move it another inch.
“You know, short fuse, it’s not good courtesy to punch people in the face
after you’ve just met them. Lucky for me, you don’t seem to be
Someone that deserves that kind of courtesy.”
Before he could react to her words, she shrugged off his other arm,
He released her with a surprised grunt of pain, stumbling backwards,
(Y/N) subconsciously rubbing her wrist.
“Hey, Hey! What’s going on?
Suddenly Bakugou was dragged away from her and she was forced to
look into the eyes of a teacher.
There was a moment of silence.
“Well fuck,” (Y/N) muttered softly, slumping her shoulders.
The next few minutes were a mess. Both Bakugou and (Y/N) were taken
to the principal’s office, and the principal glared down at her.
“(L/N) (Y/N), eh? Not a very good first impression you’ve made, storming
in and…punching a student.
“He was bullying”
“The teacher that brought you in was clear on the fact that it was you
who punched him, (L/N). Bakugou here is one of our best, not to
mention stronger students. Violence will not be tolerated. Bakugou is
known for his…explosive temper yes, but that does not mean that you
can just resort to violence.”
She caught Bakugou smirking out of the corner of her eye.
“But he was the one.”
“Silence!” the principal exclaimed, “I will send a report to you father,
and if this happens again we will have a meeting, or worst case scenario
you will be expelled.”
(Y/N) froze
“Now, both of you apologise, and put this behind you. Bakugou, no
more outbursts from you, the principals words seemed half-hearted, but
turned hard when he looked at her, “and (L/N), no more of these
incidents, I expect model behaviour from you from now on it you expect
to be welcomed into this school.
There was a moment of silence before (Y/N) muttered a soft yes sir.”
She turned to Bakugou, and reluctantly bowed.
” I am very sorry for my actions.”
Bakugou looked at her with surprise, and begrudgingly bowed, if it
Could even be called a bow. Even his bow looked insulting, giving her
the expression that he didn’t care, and he wasn’t sorry in the least
reinforced by the infuriating smirk on his face.
So this is how it is then? Smart and strong, so the principal will let him
get away with crap like this.
“You’re dismissed.”
As soon as they were outside, (Y/N) walked away, only to be stopped by
Bakugou’s obnoxious laughter
“Really? That’s all it takes for you to be obedient? Where is all the
feistiness you were showing minutes ago? Pathetic.
(Y/N) clenched her hands and kept walking to class.
To her disappointment, Bakugou walked in after her, bumping her
shoulder harshly as he walked to his seat.
Everyone turned to look at her and whispers broke out. She caught
words here and there, such as “creepy,” and “fight,” and of course, the
ever present “freak,” she was accustomed to, and she felt her shoulders
drop.
Well, there go my chances of fitting in.
“Quiet down, everyone. We have a new student, introduce yourself to
the class.”
“I’m (L/N) (Y/N). Nice to meet you everyone. Please take care of me.” She
bowed, and when she looked up everyone’s eyes were trained on her,
judging and mocking.
All except one person.
She made eye contact with Midoriya, who looked guilty, near tears.
Oh boy. She thought, frowning, I’ve made the broccoli boy upset.
“Please take a seat,” the teacher said, and (Y/N) walked over to her
vacant seat.
At least it’s not near Bakugou, she thought with some relief, trying to
find an upside.
The class went by slowly, (Y/N) doing her best to focus until lunch camne
around. Everyone immediately grouped together with their friends and
(Y/N) sighed.
Oh well, l’m used to this anyway, she thought as she took out her bento,
no biggie.
“Umm… (L/N)-san?”
She looked up and found Midoriya standing nervously by her desk.
“Midoriya-kun, hello,” she said pleasantly, giving him a small smile, “are
you alright?”
Midoriya bowed deeply, startling her.
“I’m so sorry (Y/N)-san! Because of me, you got into trouble and now
everyone is talking about you in a negative way! And I couldn’t stop
Kacchan and defend you, l m so sorry. You’re new and now everyone is
going to be horrible to you, and it’s all because of me, I didn’t mean to
do this to you when I’m sure all you wanted to do was help me despite
not even knowing me and you’re the only one here who’s ever stood up
for me but because of that”
“Woah, hey, hey,” she interrupted before he could keep muttering,
“Midoriya-kun, it’s fine. You don’t have to apologise! It wasn’t your fault
at all! I don’t blame you for anything, and l forbid you from blaming
yourself either. Please.”
He looked at her as if she had suddenly grown two heads. “But…
“Midoriya-kun, I promise, don’t blame you. I’m okay, it wasn’t your
fault. Plus, everyone was going to shun me anyway, so it doesn’t make a
difference that they’ve already started. I don’t mind, I’m used to it.”
At that, Midoriya frowned. “You’re… (L/N) (Y/N), right? Daughter of the
Necromancer?”
“That’s me,” (Y/N) said as she looked down to her bento, expecting him
to walk away but to her surprise, her pulled a seat and sat in front of her
“Really?” he asked excitedly, his eyes gleaming. “Do you mind if I ask
you about you and your father’s quirk? I don’t know a lot about it.
He reached into his pocket and pulled out a notebook. She caught the
words on the cover. Hero Analysis for the Future.
“Ummm…sure, I don’t mind,” she said, smiling warmly at him. “But are
you sure you want to sit with me? Your friends will probably not be
happy if you sit with someone like me.”
At that, Izuku frowned again, “why? You haven’t done anything wrong.
And besides…” he trailed off, suddenly looking away, “I don’t have any
friends here. Apart from Kacchan.”
She looked at him in surprise. “He’s your friend?!
“Well…yes, we grew up together. I know he’s rough but”
Understatement of the year.
“Midoriya-kun, he’s horrible! He hurt you today, how can he be your
friend?
Izuku met her eyes, “I know he’s..not the kindest person but I admire
his strength.
(Y/N) frowned at him, “but…’m sure you could make better friends than
him, Midoriya-kun. You deserve better.”
Again, he looked away, a sad look in his eyes, and (Y/N) felt pained.
“No one would want to be friends with me, (L/N)-san. I’m…I’m
quirkless.”
(Y/N) couldn’t help but feel surprised. She had never met anyone that
was quirkless before, her sheltered life not allowing her to.
“SO what? That’s not a good reason not to be friends with someone.”
Izuku looked up at her with surprise in his eyes, (Y/N) felt her stomach
plummet. Is this the first time someone didn’t make him feel bad about
being quirkless?”I’ve only known you for a few hours and can tell
you’re a good kid. So it’s on them if they don’t want to be friends with
you for that. Not having a quirk doesn’t make you any less of a person.”
She couldn’t help but think of Shouto, of that afternoon when he had
Comforted and told her not to listen to the kids at school.
Izuku looked to be near tears again, and so (Y/N) put a hand on his
shoulder and gave a soft squeeze. “You can ask me all the questions you
want, Midoriya-kun. I don’t mind.”
Izuku gave her a bright smile and she felt herself melt a little. He’s
adorable, she thought, and immediately felt more angry at Bakugou.
How can Bakugou and everyone else be so horrible to this precious
Cinnamon roll?
They ignored all the weird stares they got for sitting together and spent
the rest of the break talking. She found herself actually enjoying his
company, that is, until she felt a now familiar menacing presence
behind her.
She turned in her seat, her (E/C) eyes meeting intense red.
EPISODE 7
“Yo, the useless bunch are sticking together, right?”
(Y/N) felt her irritation rise once more.
Don’t react, don’t antagonise him, don’t..
“Nasty bruise you’ve got there,” she blurted out as soon as she saw his
smirk, causing him to scowl.
“Listen here fuck face,” he took a step towards her but Izuku stood
between them.
“Kacchan please! You can’t get into trouble again.”
“Actually, I think it’s her who can’t get in trouble again. You should have
seen this fucking coward, Deku. As soon as she was told to apologise,
she did. At the mention of a report to her father, she froze. What a
fucking disappointment,” he said with a laugh, causing (Y/N) to clench
her fists. Don’t react.
The bell soon rang, signalling the end of the break and Bakugou slowly
walked back to his seat. “We’re not done,” he promised (Y/N), smirking
at her as he walked to his seat.
“How the hell am I going to refrain from punching his irritating face
every time I see him?” she asked herself.
“I’m sorry?” said Izuku.
“Oh, nothing haha,” (Y/N) said hurriedly, waving Izuku away, “it was
lovely talking to you, Midoriya-kun. If you want to know anything else,
let me know.”
“Alright, thank you (L/N)-san.” He gave her a soft smile and made his
way to his seat.
At the end of the day, she rushed home, wanting to get it over with. She
did all her work and training until she heard her father come home.
“(Y/N),” his tone was firm and disappointed, “I gave you a chance. I told
you that you would be allowed this choice unless something happened.
You got into a fight on the first day of school! What happened?”
It was a misunderstanding, father. I promise it will not happen again.”
He stared at her hard. Finally, he sighed.
“I think this proves it wasn’t a good idea-“
“Father, please! It was a mistake! It will not happen again.”
“(Y/N)”
“Father, one more chance, please. I promise, if it happens again I will
listen to you and transfer back. Just give me one more chance, father. It
was a new environment and I made a mistake, it will not happen again.”
He thought for a while, looking resigned.
Fine. I took a big chance letting you do this, (Y/N). One more chance
and that’s it, you hear me?
Yes, father
As she walked back to her room, she wondered how on earth she was
going to stop herself from getting into fights with Bakugou.
I’m going to need to avoid confrontation with him. That’s going to be
hard. But l’m determined to go through with this, and then take the UA
entrance exam. I will not give up just because of some angry pompom.
The next day, she found Bakugou waiting for her outside the gate. She
groaned internally and tried to walk past him as fast as she could, but he
stood in her way.
“I will not fight with him. I will not provoke him. I will not.”
“Yo, fucking bitch.”
“Do you need something? Perhaps some anger management classes?”
Oops, failed step one.
He scoffed, “that’s the best you’ve got?”
“You’re right, l’m sure you get that all the time, maybe I should be a little
more creative.”
He clenched his fists and growled, taking a step forward.
She stared at him, hard. She had always been blunt and straightforward,
and even though she didn’t want anything to do with him, she figured
this was the best way to avoid future conflict.
“Look, I m not sorry I punched you in the face yesterday. You deserved
it.” He growled, stalking even closer but she continued. “Let me finish,
Bakugou. I’m not sorry, because you were doing something horrible to
Someone who didn’t deserve it.i’ve only known you for about a day, but
I can already tell that you’re a major dickhead.” She winced, expecting
his growl this time but kept going, “but truly,I don’t think it’s solely your
fault. In only a single day,I Could see that everyone pumps you full to
hot air. However, just because people around you make it easier for you
to be a jackass doesn’t mean you should be a jackass, so that’s on you. I
guess that’s not really my issue, so let me make things clear. I don’t
want to fight you. She took a deep breath, figuring honesty was the way
to go, “I can’t. If it happens again, my father will pull me out of school
and send me back to my old one.”
Bakugou snorted, “isn’t your father pretty rich?”
He’s not-“
“But he’s got money. I bet you used to go to one of those fancy-ass
private schools before. Why not go back to your castle, creepy
princess?”
She bristled, but looked at him straight in the eyes. “I’m not expecting
you to understand, but leaving that place and coming here is important
to me, Bakugou. l’m not going to fight with you anymore, butI can’t give
you a sincere apology because like I said, I really do think you deserved
and I’m not sorry for what l did. And I know it’s pointless to ask for one
from you. But.. she really didn’t want to do this. “But… I’m going to be
a great hero. Despite what people think or say. Call me creepy, or evil, or
a freak; I’ve heard it all before. That won’t stop me from getting into UA,”
Bakugou’s eyes flashed with surprise. “To do that, I need to be in
this school. So, I’m not expecting you to like me, but just…stay away
from me. That’s allI need.”
He studied her for a long moment, then burst out laughing. “Don’t be
ridiculous. You, get into UA? I’m the only student in here who’s going to
get into UA.”
She looked up at him in surprise. “You want to be a hero?”
His eyes flashed with anger, but she didn’t budge. “Of course I do, fuck
face, what else would I want to be?”
She debated whether her next words would get her in trouble, but she
couldn’t keep them inside.
“Heroes don’t bully innocent people. Heroes don’t take advantage of
people, they don’t hurt their friends and they don’t look down on
people, Bakugou. They don’t pick fights for fun.
Bakugou’s hand twitched, as if he wanted to grab her and shove her into
the wall again.
“Trying to hit me again won’t solve anything or take you a step closer to
becoming a hero, Bakugou.”
He stiffened, then shook his head, not meeting her eyes. “I wasn’t…you
said, yesterday, that was going to punch you.” He looked up and met
her eyes with an unwavering gaze. “I wasn’t. I wouldn’t have fucking
punched you, even after what you did.”
She stared at him, unsure of what to say. “I know what it looks like, to
have someone coming at you.” She thought back to her training, “your
hand”
“I raised my fucking hand, but I wasn’t going to fucking punch you,
dammit!” he exploded, then shook his head, “not that I give a fuck
whether you believe me or not anyway. Think whatever the fuck you
want.”
She laughed incredulously, “if you really didn’t care about what
thought, you wouldn’t have bothered to tell me this.”
She watched carefully as he tensed even further, and without a doubt,
She knew what he was saying was true.
“And anyway, you can’t blame me for thinking that, not after the way
you were acting, both with me and Midoriya-kun.”
“It’s different! You’re not that stupid fucking Deku.”
She frowned, “don’t call him that! And you shouldn’t hurt him either
you asshole! Why do you hate him so much anyway”
“SHUT UP” he growled, about to stalk away from her, but this time it
was her that stood in his path.
What am l doing? she wondered, but again the words just tumbled from
her mouth.
“Okay, okay, look.I don’t know what your deal is, and I’ll stay out of
your way, because l’m going to be a great hero, Bakugou. And you want
the same right? You’re strong. I’ve heard so from everyone else, who
seem to worship the ground you walk on.
He stared at her hard, “I don’t care what you say, I know for a fact thatI
will be the number one hero.”
“But you still have a long way to go-
“DON’T YOU FUCKING LOOK DOWN ON ME WHEN YOU KNOW NOTHING
ABOUT ME!” he shouted at her, causing them to earn a few stares.
“Bakugou, l’m not”
“Do whatever the fuck you want, you creep. You’re not even fucking
worth my attention for a second longer.”
He walked away, once again bumping into her shoulder hard, causing
her to wince and sigh.
He wants to be a hero, huh? Can he really be a hero if he keeps going the
way he is?
She stared after him, and even though she still wanted to punch him for
being a shitty person, she found herself unwilling to turn away.
The number one hero, she mused, we ll see who gets there
EPISODE 8
Izuku found her once she got into Class.
“I heard you and Kacchan were fighting outside the gates again today,”
Izuku said, looking at her worriedly.
“We didn’t fight.” he gave her a look as if to say I don’t believe you.
“Really. He did lose his temper and started shouting at me, but what
else is new.”
Izuku frowned at her.
“Midoriya-kun. Was Bakugou always like this? You said you’re childhood
friends, right”
Izuku frowned again, “..no, he wasn’t. When we were younger, he wasn’t
as volatile. He became like this after he got his quirk.”
“Ah, I thought so,” (Y/N) said to herself.
“What do you mean?” Izuku asked her, but she shook her head and
smiled at him.
“Never mind, Midoriya-kun.”
Bakugou, despite his words, did not completely ignore her. He bumped
and shoved her every time he could, and glared at her every time their
eyes met, but at least he wasn’t actively trying to pick a fight, which was
a relief.
Izuku and (Y/N) became friends after that. They ate all their meals
together and bonded over their hero inspirations, such as their love for
All Might. Izuku often talked about heroes and his notes on them, and
even though (Y/N) herself was a hero fanatic, she found herself learning
about heroes she hadn’t heard of before, some of the smallest details
about different quirks, and she couldn’t be happier about the fact that
she was able to talk to a guy like Izuku about it.
But even both they both loved and wanted to be heroes, (Y/N) couldn’t
help being worried and scared for her friend, even though he was
quirkless he still wanted to be a hero. She was scared he might get hurt
but understood that it was his decision to make. (Y/N) saw how much
this dream meant to him, and encouraged him despite her fear.
(Y/N) went to Aldara High for about a year, during which nothing
changed. She and Izuku had become close, enough to call each other by
their given names. It didn’t take long for (Y/N) to grow close to the soft
boy, despite being afraid of trusting another boy with friendship again,
but there was just something about Izuku that made her feel warm and
safe. The fact that he was quirkless didn’t bother, what did bother her
was that everyone else seemed to have a problem with it. They had no
qualms with insulting Izuku and hurting him, which made (Y/N) want to
fiercely protect him even more.
And then there was Bakugou. One of the aforementioned bigots who
took advantage of Izuku. Her relationship with him had (obviously) not
improved since the day she punched him, but it had luckily not gotten
worse. Izuku had told her it was probably because if Bakugou wanted to
be a hero he couldn’t afford to have a fight on his record, and since her
family had connections and he was in fact weary of her. Not that he really
had to be, considering the whole school was practically up his ass, she
thought.
Her interactions with Bakugou were limited to shoulder shoves and
(admittedly petty) insults thrown from both sides. A day didn’t go by
where (YN) and Bakugou didn’t have a fight, or a shouting match,
though it never escalated as the first one, and they were careful not to
do it around teachers.
(Y/N), surprisingly, didn’t mind. Since she had come into the picture,
Bakugou had been nothing but irritating and fucking infuriating, but
since she kept him occupied he picked on Izuku less now. She made
sure to always be by Izuku’s side and defend him from Bakugou, which
made him dislike her even more but hey, not like she particularly cared
about his perception of her. He found it more troublesome to seek out
Izuku to torture, saying her “annoying ass” wasn’t worth the effort, so
she was satisfied she had at least a small part to play in keeping him
away from Izuku as much as she could.
As for Shouto, well, there was nothing to say there. Nothing new
anyway. He hadn’t even blinked when she transferred schools, and
when they saw each other, which was less frequently now, he was just
as detached as she remembered. So, at the very least, the positive with
Shouto was that he now just looked disinterested in her, not hateful.
In the second year however, 10 months before the entrance exam, (Y/N)
made progress with Bakugou.
(Y/N) had been angry with Bakugou, after hearing from Izuku that
Bakugou had burnt Izuku’s notes to a crisp.
Seriously, what is his problem?! Izuku is literally the purest boy Il’ve ever
met, why won’t just leave him alone?!
She knew that Bakugou’s weird superiority-slash-inferiority complex
had something to do with it, and he wouldn’t stop if they did something
about that complex. Or with any other part of Bakugou’s explosive
personality.
She was walking home after school instead of taking the train when she
caught a shock of blond hair on the street. Alone
(Y/N) immediately ran to catch up with him.
“Bakugou”
He slowly turned. Giving her a look of distaste before he kept walking.
She easily jogged up to him and walked backwards, facing him as he
continued walking.
“Stay away from Izuku, dude, how hard is that? Do you have a repressed
crush on him that you can only express through violence or somethi-“
Bakugou shot her a deadly glare, “SHUT THE FUCK IF YOU WORTHLESS
FREAK! If that damn useless Deku doesn’t want me to hurt him then he
should just-“
“Just what?! Jump off the school building ?!”
At that, Bakugou looked at her in surprise, which he quickly schooled
back into his default threatening expression.
“Yeah, you shitty excuse for a human being, I heard that,” (Y/N) said, her
hands trembling with rage and struggling to keep her voice level.
Bakugou scoffed, “well, you said it”
“Bakugou! Stop, okay, if you have nothing good to say then don’t.
Fucking. Say. It.”
(Y/N) stopped talking, and realised her breathing was uneven. Shit. She
hadn’t planned on bringing this up, knowing she was just going to her
too angry and worked up, and end up probably punching Bakugou and
getting in trouble again.
“I don’t live to please you, shithead, I’ll say whatever the fuckI want”
“Do you train?” (Y/N) said hurriedly, desperately trying to change the
subject.
“The fuck do you mean, do l train? Of course l fucking train, you moron.
How else am I going to get into UA?”
Okay, good, she could do this.
“Train with me.”
That at least caused him to stop short.
“The fuck?”
“Train with me,” she repeated. “We’re both going to get into UA.”
“You mean I’m going to get into UA. Keep dreaming, idiot.”
“Bakugou. Train with me.”
He looked at her as if she was stupid. Which was fair, considering she
was asking him if all people.
“We can work together! Raise each other up, that sort of thing. There
maybe thingsI can learn from you, and you from me”
“I don’t have time for this-” he snapped, “I don’t need your fucking help-
(Y/N) rolled her eyes. “You haven’t forgotten what I told you, have you?
About being a hero. About making an effort with others.”
He froze again, and she could tell he was getting angry.
“I, Don’t. Need. Your. Help.” He growled between gritted teeth.
“Bakugou, you told your classmate to kill himself today. Do you realise
that, or are you so used to shit coming out of your mouth that you can
no longer register it?”
He opened his mouth, but she continued, “actually, that’s a rhetorical
question, I’m sure that’s actually the case.”
Bakugou gave her an unimpressed glare. “Not like shitty Deku means
anything.”
“STOP IT!” a few bystanders shot them curious looks as (Y/N)’s tone
raised, and once again she struggled to keep her volume down.
“I don’t understand what goes on in that thick explosive head of yours,
Bakugou, but telling someone to kill themselves is never okay. It’s not
okay. And it is especially not behaviour you expect from a hero.”
Bakugou snorted, “l’m not taking morality lessons from a girl whose
quirk involves manipulating dead bodies.”
(Y/N) braced herself, trying to keep calm. God, this was going to hurt.
“You… I’m not going to pretend like always know what l’m doing, like
I’m perfect. I’m not, I know I’m not. But each day, I’m trying to get
better.I have limits, and I make mistakes, but I acknowledge them. I’m
not saying this is definitely the right way, but you, on the other hand,
don’t even realise what you’re doing is wrong. l’m sure deep down you
know it’s wrong, but right now, you don’t actually believe it, you don’t
care. Which is why you’re focusing on getting stronger, am I right?
“The fuck are you, some kind of shrink.”
“So get stronger then. If we train, you and I will become stronger
together.”
“Yeah, I don’t fucking think so. You already grate my nerves every single
fucking day, why would I want to spend even more time with you?”
“Oh come on, everything makes you angry, it’s not like I’m special. You
really can’t hold that against me.”
He rolled his eyes at her. “Fuck. Off”
“C’mon, look, my father wants me to train against other people.”
“Find someone else, you moron.”
“He already has someone in mind.” Bakugou looked at her.
“Then just fucking.”
“That’s why I want you.”
Bakugou’s puzzled expression turned into anger once more
“Fuck of,” he repeated, slowly, deliberately, “I’ll kill you if you keep
fucking bothering me.”
“Bakugou. This is training with someone who also aspires to be a future
hero. Why wouldn’t you want this?
” I don’t want anything from you, you freak.”
(Y/N) visibly inhaled and exhaled, trying to calm herself down again.
Finally, she stopped walking, and despite himself Bakugou found
himself slowing down.
“If you don’t train with me, I’m going to have to train with Shouto. So –
Bakugou shook his head with an incredulous smile.
“Dol give a fuck? Keep your fucking ridiculous problems away from me.”
“What the hell is wrong with you, Bakugou? I thought you were going to
be the number one hero”
Bakugou’s eyes flashed, “lam.”
“How are you going to do that if you don’t take this opportunity?
mean, l really want to get more combat experience, and ‘m sure you’re
great at that with your pissy, confrontational nature and all.”
“Fuck you (L/N),” Bakugou snarled, whirling around to look at her, “why
the hell are you doing this? Why do you care?”
“You said you want to be the number one hero, Bakugou. At the rate
you’re going, how can you be a hero? You have practically zero
compassion. And thought, maybe if we train together”
“What, you want to teach me to be fucking nice? Don’t make me laugh
“Okay, how about this.” She pulled out her trump card, “I’m going to tell
something that you can’t tell anyone else, okay?”
“What the fuck, l’m not going to trade secrets with you, idiot, I líterally
couldn’t give less of a shit about-“
“But I think you’ll want to hear this, since at this rate I will be closer that
you are becoming the number one hero.”
Bakugou glared at her, but didn’t say anything else, which showed that
he was at least intrigued.
She fought the urge to smile. He literally thinks of nothing but being the
best.
“You want to become the number one hero, right? So you have to
practice against someone strong.”
He snorted, “what, you?” he said in a degrading tone, making her clench
her fists.
“Well, what if I told you that I was trained by the number two hero?
His eyes widened slightly before his face resumed a stony quality.
“You’re lying”
“l’m not. One of my father’s conditions to allow me to attend this school
was that I had to take my training more seriously. That included training
with Endeavour. Not many people know this, but since my father works
for Endeavour’s agency, they’re…well, I wouldn’t call them friends,
exactly, but they’re acquainted. Endeavor has been training me since
began attending Aldara High, which wasn’t that long ago,” she paused,
her voice gaining a teasing quality, “but is still more time training with
the number two hero than you have, Kacchan.” She smiled sweetly at
him, trying to rile him up enough so he would agree.
It took great effort on her part to seem happy by this, when in reality she
knew that training with Endeavour was nothing to smile about. But he
didn’t need to know that.
He stared at her, critically. “Why would the number two hero spend any
time at all training garbage you?” at that, (Y/N)’s smile disappeared and
a dark look came into her eyes, but when Bakugou blinked, the
expression was gone.
I think you’re confused about who the garbage is that situation, she
thought.
“That’s a secret I can’t tell. And you’re not interested in my secrets
anyway. Besides, I shouldn’t be telling you that he’s training me at all.”
It wasn’t like Endeavour training her was top secret. In fact, it was (Y/N)
herself who asked them to keep it a secret, since she didn’t want Shouto
to find out. But it’s not like Shouto would find out from Bakugou, so
there was no problem with that. As long as Bakugou kept his mouth
shut, anyways.
“So, what do you say, short fuse? It’s not like you’d have anything to
lose. I won’t interfere with your training, and you’ll get some different
type of training with me that you’re not likely to get with anyone else.
wouldn’t lie about being trained by Endeavour.”
Bakugou gave her a long look, definitely intrigued, but after a long
moment, he shook his head and walked away.
“Like I said, I don’t need help from a freak like you.”
(Y/N)’s smile dropped, and she stepped away from him.
“This would be mutually beneficial for us, Bakugou. l’m not going to ask
again, and l’m definitely not going to beg. Think on it, give me an
answer by the end of the week.”
“Are you fucking deaf? I said-“
But before he could finish, (Y/N) already walked away.
Am I doing the right thing? (Y/N) questioned. I really don’t want to train
with Shouto but training with Bakugou is..
She shook her head to get rid of the thoughts. She heard a lot about
him, and he was supposedly great with combat. She needed to be better
with that, as well as her stamina. So she wasn’t going to let him push
her away, specially not when they both could gain a lot from this. Plus,
ever since he had talked to her on her second day, she couldn’t shake
the feeling that he really could become a good person.
Well, if he says no, that’s it. Not like I particularly care about him
specifically, even thought for some reason that l can’t figure out, I really
don’t want to…
..To what? Could I really help him see how his behaviour was damaging
and help him be more kind to others
Is that it? Is there something else
She shook her head, perplexed as to why she really wanted him to
agree.
As ifl could help him see that. Doubtful.
The next day, however, she was surprised and horrified when she heard
about the sludge villain attack.
“Izuku! l’m so glad you’re okay!” she exclaimed, hugging him close to
her chest, causing his cheeks to heat up.
“Don’t worry, (Y/N)-chan,” Izuku mumbled, embarrassed, “I’m fine, All
Might save us.”
She looked at him worriedly, “what about Bakugou? I mean, the news
said he was okay, but was he really…” she asked, her chest tightening
in concern.
Izuku looked at her carefully. “Um, he was okay, I think. Angry as us
so.
She smiled at him, trying to not give any more concern than she felt was
appropriate. “That must have been so horrible for him…” she trailed off,
wondering if he really was okay.
She saw him in class but his mood that day seemed to be even worse
than usual, everyone steering clear of his path.
ignoring his menacing aura however, (Y/N) strolled up to him hesitantly
at the end of the day, having rushed to go after him.
“Bakugou?” she whispered softly, slowing down as she neared him, “are
you”
He turned to look at her and she was rendered speechless by the
expression in his eyes. She didn’t think she had ever seen him
this…shaken. If it could even be called that, it was only slight, something
you could only detect if you looked underneath his reinforced mask of
anger.
“The fuck do you care?” he finally snarled after a minute of staring, not
sounding nearly as threatening as he hoped.
“Of course I care! You could have been seriously hurt! God, you could
have been” she stopped abruptly, not wanting to finish that sentence.
He looked at her in silence for a minute, mulling over her reaction. Why
the fuck is she here? He wondered, she doesn’t gain anything by acting
all concerned, the fuck does she think this is going to win me over or
Some shit?
“Well, I’m.!’m glad you’re safe,” she said, and when he looked at her he
was again startled by the sincerity in her eyes, the relief in her posture,
“if you’re over here swearing and getting angry then I’m sure you’re
fine,” she added.
He scoffed but found himself not wanting to break this moment
apart.Everyone else had been keeping themselves at bay, afraid o face
his wrath, so why was she here?
After a brief pause, he said, “you… should fucking stay away. You gain
nothing from this”
She rolled her eyes, “I’m not looking to gain anything.” She met his eyes,
then said simply, “I just wanted to make sure you were okay with my
own eyes”
Once again he didn’t know what to say, and she must have seen how
uncomfortable he was getting, because she added, “and now that’s
done, l’ll leave you to go off and disappoint humanity or make children
cry or whatever it is you like to do in your free time.”
She took a step back, about to turn around to go back the way she came
from.
He watched her for a second, then took a deep breath.
“Wait.”
EPISODE 9
She turned around and frowned at him confusedly, waiting for him to
speak.
“Ok, is that the face you should be making at the guy who’s going to train
with you?” his stance was now different from the unsure one he was
giving a minute ago, instead now giving off an uncaring vibe, his eyes
smouldering with the usual intenseness, that she was used to.
(Y/N) raised her eyebrows, a strange amount of relief surging through
her, both at the fact that he said yes, and at the fact that he seemed to
be getting back to normal. “You’re saying yes?”
Bakugou scoffed, The entrance exam is in ten months. To be perfectly
fucking honest, I doubt that could learn a lot from someone as shitty
and useless as you, but since l’m the strongest, even someone like you
couldn’t drag me down.”
(Y/N) felt a vein about to pop in her forehead, but merely gave him a
slow nod, “isn’t it exhausting to carry that big ass ego of yours around
wherever you go?
“Fuck you,” he said without heat, “we all know l’m the motherfucking
best, that’s just a fact.”
She looked at him amusedly, “is that so?”
“Fuck yeah. Plus I might as well see what Endeavour has been teaching
you.”
She met his eyes.
“So. You are curious.”
“Slightly. Doesn’t really mean I give two shits about you though, so
don’t start thinking that-“
“I get it, sheesh, with you on the defensive like that someone might
think that there’s something that you’re trying to hide,~-Kacchan–
“Don’t fucking call me that,” he growled, making her smirk.
“Alright, Katsu-chan, I won’t.
“What the fuck are you-“
“Come on, Katsu-chan, we are going to be training together from now
on, are we not? That means”
“Doesn’t mean shit, fuckface. We’re not friends, I would never be friends
with someone so”
“Oh come on, stop it!” she interrupted before he could start another
fight, then hesitated and asked, “wait, are you saying yes because of
what happened yesterday?”
Bakugou tensed up again. Yesterday had made him realise that he
needed to get stronger, and even though he knew that he was plenty
strong and that he was more than able to train alone, he found himself
wanting to give this a try. For reasons that made him want to both get
closer to her and get as far away from her as possible.
From the moment she had stormed into his life and punched him, he
was reluctant to admit that she had captured his attention. She was
constantly surprising him, standing up for that goddamn shitty nerd
every fucking time, yet only playfully reprimanding and insulting him
when he attacked her. The way she had asked him to train with
confidence, despite knowing that there was a huge chance he was going
to decline. And now, the way that she approached him when no one else
would, just to make sure he was okay..it all gave him a weird feeling in
his gut, and he was unsure of whether it was a good or bad feeling. He
was unsure of whether he wanted to find out.
“Fuck you, (L/N), take it or leave it and don’t fucking ask stupid
questions”
“Alright, alright,” she put her hands up placatingly, “when do you want
to train? We can train together a few times a week after school, and
maybe during weekends if you’re available.”
“‘Sure,” he muttered, not looking at her.
“Do you attend any clubs, Katsu-chan?”
“I fucking told you-“
“Yeah, didn’t think so, you don’t look like the type to do something that
isn’t being mean to other people for fun, and I’m pretty sure there isn’t a
club for that. Unless you ask, the principal would probably approve just
to kiss your ass.
He growled at her and she laughed teasingly.
“Okay, okay, well, I’ve got a music and arts club, so here.” She pulled out a
notebook form her bag along with a pen, and scribbled some numbers
down. She extended the paper over to him, only to have him shoot a
disgusted look at her hand.
“This is my number.”
“I don’t want your fucking-
Short fuse, we need to keep in contact in order to organise dates and
stuff! So just, take it.”
She glared at him until he snatched the slip of paper from her hands,
grumbling about “shitty girls who are too fucking annoying to deal
with.” She decided to pretend she didn’t hear him, stalking down the
impulse to retort about an “angry pom-pom who can’t even think about
being nice else he’ll strain his brain.”
“So, how about we train Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays?
Those are the days when I don’t go to clubs or when I don’t meet with
Endeavour. Does that work for you?
He stared at her hard. “Yeah, that works.”
“Great! My parents are never home so we can train in the training area
behind my house, or any other areas that you might have in mind.” She
flashed him a bright smile, her eyes shining brightly, and her cheeks
flushed in excitement, and at that moment, he felt… strangely tongue
tied. He had never made plans with someone before, except with his so
called ‘friends, but this felt nothing like that. This felt…different, in a
good way. Really good. And despite him telling himself that he was
doing this for his own benefit, he couldn’t help but actually look forward
to this, and not only because he was curious, but because a big part of
him wanted to chase this feeling and find out what it really meant, and
why he only felt it with her.
And, could anyone blame him? In that shitty school, she had been the
only one who actually stood up to him and didn’t worship the ground he
walked in. And she did that the moment she walked into his life, she
didn’t hesitate to stand up for that shitty nerd.
He felt his stomach roll at that thought, making him feel more anger
towards Deku. Why did she like him, anyway? He was so fucking useless,
but every time he even made a comment about Deku she didn’t hesitate
to attack him, which for some reason made him extremely
uncomfortable.
He was taken out of his thoughts when she took a few steps back and
looked at the time.
“We could start today, if you are free.” She looked up at him, expecting
him to make an excuse so that he wasn’t near her for long but was
surprised when he nodded instead.
“Yes, the entrance exam is ten months from now, better make it quick.”
He must have seen the surprise in her face, because he gave her a smirk,
“what, is this not what you fucking signed up for?”
She shook her head, “I don’t know, Iguess I thought you’d make an
excuse to leave..
He rolled his eyes, “I know I have to fucking spend time with you, and
though your presence is repulsive l’ve chosen to deal with it,” he spat
out.
“Charming,” (Y/N) said, deadpan.
With that, they set off and began their training together.
EPISODE 10
Whilst this new development between (Y/N) and Bakugou was going on,
Izuku had grown more secretive about his doings lately, only telling her
that he was also training for the entrance exam.
Hope he’s doing okay, (Y/N) thought with a fond smile. Often when she
saw him now he seemed extremely tired, yet she didn’t recall ever
seeing him so happy and full of hope before, his rosy cheeks and
twinkling eyes making her feel so much joy for her friend.
Bakugou, on the other hand…was as rude and volatile as ever. (Y/N) was
better at dealing with him now though, and though Bakugou was still a
jerk, he didn’t seem so set in making her life miserable anymore, so that
was a plus. He still criticised and insulted her on a daily basis, but (Y/N)
noticed that he wasn’t set on actually hurting her anymore, his usual
vulgarity being a reflex rather than intentional. She didn’t point it out
though, knowing that if she did he was very likely to grow defensive and
blow up at her.
When it came to Shouto, however.. well, she had seen Shouto only a
handful of times, and not once did he ever ask her what happened, or
why she transferred.
Maybe he didn’t even notice, she thought bitterly, the way he ignored
my presence before, I wouldn’t be surprised
Over the next first couple of months, (Y/N) and Bakugou trained
together. He never went easy on her, or she with him, and by the time
they finished they were often both exhausted and satisfied, not that
neither of them would admit it.
To (Y/N)’s surprise, eventually Bakugou actually became tolerable to be
around. Since they both took the train to and from school, they often
walked to the train station together after training, as they had opted to
use an abandoned terrain in order to use their quirks more freely rather
than in (Y/N)’s house.
Plus, Bakugou was still pretending that he hated her and all that “not
wanting anything to do with her” bullshit so they rarely trained in her
house.
This also meant that when they were done, they would sometimes even
get dinner together. That was something that shocked (Y/N) most of all:
she had once, after being unbearably tired and hungry, jokingly
suggested they get dinner before heading home, and to her surprise,
Bakugou wordlessly agreed, heading to a ramen restaurant. After that, it
was common for them to head to dinner if they were particularly
hungry, and though (Y/N) wanted desperately to ask why he was
agreeing to do this when it didn’t benefit him at all, she tried to keep her
curiosity in check, not wanting to rile him up
It was almost four months after they had begun training when Bakugou
finally asked something that’d been bugging him
“You have two quirks, don’t you?”
She looked at him and blinked, “er, yes?”
“Why the fuck are you phrasing that as a question?”
“I don’t understand why you’re asking! Everyone knows that.”
Because, you fucking shithead, we’ve been training for months and the
the only quirk you use is the shadow one!”
She frowned at him, “so?”
“SO?!” he screeched, and (Y/N) was enjoying winding him up too much
the way the corners of her lips turned up were any indication, “so why
the fuck won’t you fucking use your other quirk?” he asked hurriedly,
wanting to ignore the fact that her trying not to smile wasn’t irritating
him as much as it would have, had it been anyone else doing that.
At his question though, she stopped smiling, and he tried not to feel
disappointed, because why the fuck would I feel disappointed?
“No reason, really,I just thought l’d practise with shadow instead.”
“Well, use your other fucking quirk, your shadow shit is getting boring.”
She rolled her eyes, “I don’t want to.”
“WHY THE FUCK NOT?!”
“I don’t use it often, and it’s not a pretty quirk.
“I DON’T GIVE A FLYING FUCK MAGGOT, JUST FUCKING USE IT!”
She frowned at him, then shook her head slightly. He felt oddly
disappointed again, and was about to yell something else when she
sighed.
“Okay, fine. Do you even know how my quirks work?
“That’s why I want to fucking see it you little-“
“Listen to me for a sec. So as you know, I have dual quirks. My shadow
manipulation is easy to explain since it just means that as long as there
is a shadow present, I can weaponize it. You’ve seen it in action plenty.”
“I fucking know that.”
“Right, that you do. But my other quirk, well, is a bit harder to explain,
and harder to control too.”
“I know who your father is, you don’t need to fucking explain.”
“I’m not my father,” (Y/N) said in a hard tone, immediately shutting
Bakugou up.
“Plus, my father himself doesn’t use his quirk publicly often so it’s not
like you fully understand how it works.”
“Fuck you, maggot.”
She stuck her tongue out at him, “as I was saying, I can manipulate dead
bodies at will; they sort of become my…well puppets, for lack of a better
word.I can control them manually like that or just command them to do
something, but that’s much harder to do and requires more practice. It
also means I can summon and control souls. The whole manipulating
dead bodies is not something I do often, and it’s a quirk that should only
be used in case something has gone seriously wrong and there’s no
another choice. I can’t summon a dead body here. So that’s why I realy
more on the power of souls. Not much on the body.”
“It’s your fucking quirk,” Bakugou said it plainly, “it’s what you’re going
to make you strong, isn’t it?”
“Well, yes, and technically I do use my father’s quirk a lot. I’m able to
Connect with many spirits easily, and they help me with things like
strength and stamina. I prefer to use it for that rather than other things.”
He frowned at her, “have you ever used your quirk to manipulate a
body?”
He actually sounded quite interested, which made (Y/N) debate on how
to answer him, “well, yeah, that was mostly what the training that
wasn’t physical with my father, consisted of.”
There was a moment where Bakugou digested her words and looked at
her unwaveringly.
Not being able to take the silence for long, she blurted, “why are you
looking at me like that?”
He immediately jerked his head around and looked away, looking
pissed.
“Just fucking wondering why the shit you seem to be against this quirk.”
She laughed hollowly, “are you kidding me? My entire life has consisted
of people calling me a freak of nature just for having this power, not
even using it. Believe it or not, Bakugou, the idea of someone
manipulating someone else’s dead bodies is seen as unethical.”
“I fucking know that, but they’re fucking dead anyway,” Bakugou said
plainly, and (Y/N) found an incredulous laugh bubbling in her throat.
“Eloquent as always, short fuse.”
“Well, fuck, I’m just saying, it makes sense that it would be better to use
dead bodies, which are, you know, already fucking dead, to prevent
people who are actually alive from dying.”
“Well, that’s why it can only be used as a last resort! They’re the bodies
of real people, whether they’re dead or not, you know? Unless someone
gives permission when they were alive, it wouldn’t be fair. And also, you
know, they’re dead bodies. They decompose, it’s not like you can save a
corpse for later use. Not to mention, at a villain scene, it’s best that there
are no dead bodies, you know, after all, a hero’s job is to save people.”
Bakugou rolled his eyes, “you really don’t like that side of the quirk do
you?”
She turned to look at him, “um, l’m not overly fond of it, no. It requires
people to be dead, so, l’d rather not be in a position where I have to use
it, even though I can. Now, I’ve sort of accepted it though as a part of me
though, since from all the training with my father I have actually
become accustomed to seeing dead bodies. But I guess, well, that
wasn’t something ever wanted to be comfortable with”
Bakugou remained silent for a while, and (Y/N) gave a hollow laugh,
feeling oddly nervous. “You must thinkl’m pretty weak and stupid for
thing this way”
Bakugou frowned, then said seriously, “not really. I mean, its fucking
obvious that people wouldn’t like it if the bodies of people they knew
were used, and it is unethical in a way, but if the bodies of the people
who are already dead could be used to prevent more innocent people
being killed, then I think there is definitely a grey area.”
She stared at him for a while, a sad smile pulling at her lips. “Most
people don’t see it that way. I’ve been told so my whole life.”
He could see she didn’t want to talk to about this, and it made sense,
considering she had other abilities she could use in the field instead
“Well, at the very least, it’s always something you can fall back on if the
situation is really fucking bad and you’ve got no other choice.”
She winced, “yeah, I know, but I’d rather not think about that.” She
shook her head as thought physically get rid of those thoughts. “So
anyway, that’s the reason why you don’t see me pulling dead bodies out
of the ground or anything. Plus, I am using spirits to help me out in most
cases” she gave him a teasing smile, trying to dispel the bad
atmosphere surrounding them, “so you know, if I ever need to punch
you again for being an assholel could use spirits to make me stronger
and help me break more than a few bones.”
He felt strangely relieved at the fact that she was teasing him and no
longer looked upset and hesitant to be talking about her quirk, then
immediately felt angry at himself for feeling that way. He shouldn’t give
a fuck whether she was feeling happy or not. He didn’t give a fuck.
At least, that was what he told himself.
He scoffed, trying to dispel any stupid feelings that he’d rather not
explore or acknowledge, instead rising up to her challenge, “as if l’d
fucking let you.”
EPISODE 11
A few weeks after their conversation about (Y/N)’s quirk, (Y/N) and
Bakugou stopped to get some noodles on the way home, and (Y/N) was
finally not able to reel in her curiosity.
She noticed that now, Bakugou, though still a major prick in her books,
had actually become someone that she enjoyed being around. They
spoke more freely since then, and she could easily say that she liked
that. Bakugou was hard-headed, but he was passionate, smart and
ambitious, and talking to him and being around him had actually
become something she looked forward to.
And for some reason, she…sort of hoped he felt the same.
“So, short fuse,” (Y/N) said, causing Bakugou to look up from his bowl,
“why?
Unfortunately for her, at that moment, Bakugou had also been thinking
about it. Why was he spending more time than necessary with (Y/N)?
And when exactly had he stopped questioning it and began enjoying it?
The answers he came up with were unsatisfactory and made him feel
more irritated, his annoyance increasing tenfold as he failed to
understand his own motives
“Why what?” he snapped impatiently, tightening his grip on his
chopsticks.
“Why are you doing this? I was under the impression that you were
extremely reluctant to start training with me.” (Y/N) was so lost in her
thoughts, her recollection of her time with Bakugou, that she failed to
notice he way his eyes narrowed and his form slowly tensed, “but now
you even walk home with me, eat with me and I think that…”
Before she could finish her sentence, Bakugou stood up so fast that he
sent his chair clattering to the ground.
“THE FUCK ARE YOU SAYING, SHITTY FREAK?! YOU SHOULD BE FUCKING
THANKFUL I’M EVEN ALLOWING YOUR WORTHLESS PRESENCE NEAR ME,
SO DON’T YOU FUCKING DARE THINK THIS MEANS ANYTHING!”
At that point, everyone in the restaurant was staring at them as Bakugou
grabbed his backpack and stormed out without giving (Y/N) a chance to
respond.
(Y/N)’s heart was racing, his aggravation taking her aback. Obviously she
had expected that he would get riled up, but not to that level.
After all, after their talk about (Y/N)’a quirk, (Y/N) had actually begun
considering him a kind of friend. He was definitely easier to talk to now
that he used to be, and so she didn’t quite expect this kind of reaction.
All eyes still on her, she stood up, slammed some money to cover their
meals on the table, grabbed her bag and ran after Bakugou.
She spotted him taking a turn at the end of the road and rushed towards
him.
“Bakugou! Hey!” she watched him stiffen, then speed up, “hey! Stop
running dammit!
Her voice raised with anger as she surpassed him and stopped in front
of him, blocking his path.
“Move. Now” He growled slowly, not raising his head to meet her eyes.
“No. No way. Why did you say those things back there? What the fuck is
your problem?!” he kept his eyes on the road, and she found herself
getting more and more angry. I’ve done nothing but try my best to be
as nice as l can to you, considering your winning personality! And as far
as training goes, it’s been going pretty well, so don’t you dare tell me
that I’m below you! If that were true, you would have just stopped
seeing me after the first time!
“Shut the fuck up!” he snarled, making her take a startled step back,
“You think I care about you? I fucking don’t. Walking with you, eating
with you, it’s just fucking efficient, nothing more. I don’t even enjoy your
shitty presence, and l sure as hell don’t want you thinking that I”
“Geez, you can be so fucking thick and pathetic, did you know?! I wasn’t
asking because I wanted to offend you, I was asking because l want to
know! You… her voice became quieter than the angry shouting she’d
been letting out, “you’re a mystery to me, Bakugou Katsuki. The way
you think, the way you take action, is something that I don’t
comprehend most of the time, so l just wanted to hear your explanation
for actually being around me!
Bakugou’s brow furrowed, his chest tightening at the way she no longer
sounded angry, but sounded..hurt?
“You”
“SHUT UP!” she shouted, her chest tightening in that familiar pain she
always felt. That loneliness she wasn’t able to get rid of. “I’m not exactly
brimming with people who want to be around me if you haven’t
noticed, so it was…it was just a simple question. As to why you of all
people have actually stayed around me this long.” At the end of her
sentence, her voice got lower, defeated.
“Aside from Izuku…” Bakugou fought the urge to roll his eyes, “there
isn’t another person who has actually stuck by me and…likes me.”
At that, Bakugou snorted, unable to keep himself from trying to
humiliate her, “like you!” eh gave a mocking laugh, ‘”hahahaha, so what,
you want to hold hands, paint fucking rainbows and ride off into the
sunset? Don’t be so fucking ridiculous!
Sadness clouded (Y/N)’s features, “I didn’t mean to say you like me, or
even get along with me you asshole! Obviously you and Izuku are
different!”
At that statement, Bakugou’s anger rose, and he knew it wasn’t just
because of the mention of that shitty Deku.
“You and l are not like Izuku and I, Bakugou! I fucking know that! But
thought you… you, someone that doesn’t get impressed by other
people easily, someone who doesn’t let people get close… I thought I at
least deserved your acknowledgement! I know respect is a little too
much to be asking for from you, but.. angry tears filled her eyes, “I
thought by now you at least…saw me. So l’m not….looking down on you
or making fun of you for spending time with me, you fucking moron!
Especially since I… I thought maybe things were getting slightly better
between us.”
She finally took a breather and Bakugou was scrambling for something
to say when she said in a resigned tone, “but you know what, if I’m that
much of a waste to you, then you can just forget about this.”
Bakugou’s pulse pounded in his ears. “What the fuck are you even
talking about?”
She stared at him, her mouth set in a stern line, “we’re done, Bakugou. I am
tried, but I’m not…I’m not going to do this anymore.
(Y/N) turned her back on Bakugou, missing the way Bakugou’s eyes
widened.
“I’m not going to let people look down on me and treat me like dirt,
anymore.” (Y/N) mumbled, “I’m not going to let him- let you- treat me
like l’m not worthy of your oh so marvellous presence.
Bakugou raised an eyebrow. He? Who exactly was this other guy (Y/N)
was talking about?
(Y/N) turned and Bakugou was faced with her profile.
“It’s a shame… you know… she gave him one last sad look, and
lamented, “I was actually really starting to like you…”
She shook her head as to clear herself of those thoughts, and without
looking back, she began to walk away from him.
Bakugou watched, strangely frozen, his palms sweaty, not in
anticipation for a fight, but with…panic.
Isn’t this what I wanted? He asked himself, why the fuck am I feeling like
this?
“So the fuck what? You’re just going to walk away because I hurt your
feelings?
She whirled around once more. “You look down on me!” (Y/N) shouted
at him, angry tears again streaking down her face, “in fact, you don’t
even look at me, at all!”
“So what? I don’t need to like you to be able to fucking fight you, you
stupid”
She cut him off, hissing, “fuck you, Bakugou. Seriously, fuck you.
She resumed walking ahead, wiping angrily at her tears, causing
Bakugou’s chest, more discomfort. Shit, what the fuck is this?
He scrambled for something else to say. “Don’t be a fucking coward, if
you’re ending this because you’re fucking scared”
“Did you seriously not hear anything I said? I’m done. I don’t care
anymore. Keep going down the shitty path your heading, Bakugou; it’s
not my business. Never was.”
“Don’t fucking walk away from me-!”
“Why not?” she called over her shoulder, “you walked away from me at
the restaurant, I’m just relieving you of my ‘worthless’ presence.”
Bakugou felt something that he refused to call regret churn in his guts,
rendered immobile as he watched her walk away.
Why had he reacted like that? He had been thinking about her and
their.weird sort-of-not-friendship when she asked, and so he had
immediately gone on the defensive.
And now she is gone.
“Fuck.”
EPISODE 12
That night, (Y/N) headed straight home, trying and failing to suppress
angry tears from escaping her eyes.
She entered her house, not in the mood to check around for her parents.
They probably wouldn’t be there anyway.
She set her keys down on the stand, and began heading to her room,
only to hear someone clear their throat.
She stiffened, immediately going on the defensive, whirling around to
see Shouto standing in her living room
“Oh,” she let out a relieved breath, “it’s just you.”
He raised an eyebrow at her, but she then continued to walk across the
living room, his eyes following her.
“(Y/N),” he called out just as she was nearing the bottom of the stairs,
“aren’t you going to ask what l’m doing here?”
She snorted, “not really feeling like catering to your interests today,
Shouto.
His eyes widened, then he said crossly, “don’t be rude. I was waiting for
you. We have to go to an agency event tonight, remember?”
She stopped dead in her tracks, her stomach plummeting.
Fuck, I completely forgot about that after Bakugou-
She shook her head to get rid of those thoughts.
“I don’t need you to escort me like l’m some idiot
“Don’t flatter yourself, I’m only here to take you because Reo asked me
to.”
She turned around to glare at him. “Well, leave. l’m not going
Hejerked in surprise, not used to receiving this tone from her, “I don’t
think you understand”
“No, you don’t understand, Shouto. l’m really not in the mood for this
tonight, so leave me alone.
His surprised changed to irritation as he took a couple of steps towards
her, “don’t be a spoiled brat. You have to do this, I’m not
He stopped mid sentence as he took in her face. Her tip of her nose was
red, and he would have attributed that to the fact that she must have
walked home, if it weren’t for the fact that her eyes were red-rimmed,
that the skin at the corner of her eyes looked irritated as though she had
been furiously rubbing them, and her cheeks were oddly flushed. He felt
a deep, uncomfortable pang in his chest at the sight.
“Have you been crying?” he asked before he could stop himself,
unconsciously taking another step closer
She jerked back, quickly shifting her eyes away.
“Of course I haven’t, now leave me alone.”
“(Y/N), don’t lie to me,” he said in a hard tone, only to be met with a
hollow laugh.
What the hell do you want? It’s not like you give a fuck,” she pointed
out, “so just.”
“Why have you been crying? he repeated, stepping around so that he
was blocking the staircase
She sighed, “Jesus fuck, Shouto, you’re one of the last people I want to
see right now, get out of my way.
He frowned, trying hard to think of a way to actually talk to her.
“Look, we have to be at this event in an hour.”
“I’m not going!” she raised her voice, sounding angry, “tell my father l’m
not feeling well or something and then get the hell out of my way”
He gave her an unimpressed look, “you seem just fine to me
She rolled her eyes, “a little white lie never hurt anyone, and it would be
a win-win either way, wouldn’t it? I get to go to my room alone, and you
get to not spend an evening in the presence of the girl you hate.”
He went slack with surprise, and she used the opportunity to try and
squeeze past him, only to have him move to block her way again.
“I don’t hate you,” he rushed out, frowning, “(Y/N)-“
She groaned impatiently, “you’re really not going to stop, are you?
“Not until you tell me why you’ve been crying
“Give me a break, Shouto. You’ve been pretending I don’t exist for so
long, and now you’re suddenly concerned?
Shouto took a deep breath, trying to cool off.
It didn’t work.
“You’re being a huge bitch today.”
“A bitch is a female dog, dogs bark, bark is found on trees, trees are a
part of nature and nature is beautiful, so thanks for the compliment”
she smiled sweetly at him
He rolled his eyes, not amused. “Listen, I’m not going to deal with you
“Good talk, then. You can leave now.”
He visibly took another breath. “You know what, fine. Stay alone and
wallow in your self-pity for all I care.”
She smiled an overly sweet smile at him, “why thank you, my evening
plans are sorted. Better than being around you anyway.”
And with that, she shoved past him up the stairs, leaving Shouto to stare
after her.
He remained standing at the foot of the stairs for a few minutes,
debating on what to do. After all, something clearly happened,
otherwise she wouldn’t have been crying or lashed out like that.
He recalled the look on her face, her red and puffy eyes, her thinking
that he hates her.
This is for the best though, isn’t it? Keeping my distance.
But if that’s the right thing to do, then why is it that all I want to do right
now rush into her room and hold her until she feels better? Maybe kiss
her forehead like l used to do to cheer her up before.
He shook his head at that last thought, finally pushing himself away.
EPISODE 13
The next day at school, Izuku could tell there was something wrong with
(Y/N).
“(Y/N)-chan? Are you okay?” he questioned meekly, only to receive a
forced smile from her.
“Of course l am, Izuku-chan! Don’t worry, I’m just tired.
It was so obviously a lie, but (Y/N) was already turning away from him,
Izuku resolved to keep an eye out for her.
Meanwhile, (Y/N) was trying very hard to keep horrible thoughts out of
her mind, Bakugou’s demeaning words and Shouto’s worried eyes.
Was that really concern I saw in his eyes? She questioned to herself,
feeling an oncoming headache. God, I was awful to him. Literally the
first time he tried to talk to me in ages and all I did was be an asshole.
Good going, (YN).
She frowned, digging a deeper grave for herself with every thought.
“Ugh,” she groaned into her desk, feeling lzuku’s concerned eyes on her.
Fuck, stop being so fucking pitiful for once, she told herself, lifting her
head up to try and act normal, so of course it was at that moment that
Bakugou chose to walk through the door.
Aw fuck me, she groaned internally, quickly fitting her eyes onto her
textbook so as to not make eye contact.
She spent the rest of the day trying furiously to focus on class, but was
distracted by the feeling of someone staring at her.
Is it Bakugou? She wondered, not risking looking at him even once, why
would he be staring?
She tried to ignore prying eyes, and when it was the end of the day,
Izuku waved goodbye to her with worried eyes.
“l’m fine,” she told him, “really, don’t worry. Tomorrow you’ll see, I’ll be
as good as new”
“Okay, (Y/N)-chan, but if you want to talk or need anything.”
“I know, Izuku, thank you. But run along, your training awaits you.
He gave her one last smile before leaving.
(Y/N) hesitated, before pulling her phone out.
She braced herself as she dialled a number.
The dial tone stopped, a deep “(Y/N)?” sounding through the phone.
“Shouto,” she replied, sounding extremely awkward.
“What,” he stated, making her fume. Of course he’s not going to make it
easy for me.
“Where are you right now? I need to talk to you.”
“I was under the impression that you didn’t want to talk,” he replied in a
flat tone.
“Don’t be an asshole,” she quipped before she was able to stop herself,
and quickly continued, “look, I want to apologise to you, and l’d much
rather do it in person, so-
“Are you finally going to tell me why you were crying, then?” he asked in
the same tone.
“Why the hell are you so hung up on that? Look, I want to apologise, so”
“No apology unless you tell me” he replied, and she felt her eyes widen
in response.
“Oh my god seriously what is your deal,” she questioned, “not that it’s
any of your business, but I was just having a bad day, okay?”
“You’re not the type to cry just because you were having a bad day,
(Y/N).”
She was tempted to spit out of irritation, what do you know about me?”
but barely restrained herself.
“I’m not lying. Look, I had a fight with someone, and I was frustrated,
that’s all!”
There was silence down the line, before: “who was it?
She rolled her eyes, feeling oddly endeared but quickly pushing that
feeling away. “That’s all you get to know, now will you let me apologise?
was upset and frustrated and l took it Out on you because you were the
only one around, and I didn’t mean to.
There was a sigh down the line, “fine, accept your apology.”
“What, but I want to see you.” she trailed off, blushing embarrassedly at
her words, “SEE YOU TO APOLOGISE THAT’S WHAT I MEANT”
She heard an amused huff down the line, causing her lips to quirk up in
a small smile, before she heard, “that’s not necessary. The fact that you
apologising and wanting to do it in person is enough. Meeting will only be
a waste of time.
Her smile dropped
Shit. l actually thought he cared for a moment.
“Right, of course. Yeah, goodbye then.”
“Good”
She hung up quickly, leaning against the school building.
She felt kind of stupid for feeling happy for even a single moment during
that conversation, but she couldn’t help it when she was reminded of
that afternoon in Shouto’s room.
Give me their names. I just want to talk.
Who was it?
She shook her head, pushing away from the wall and heading towards
the station.
Once she was near the station, she felt as if someone was watching her
again, and she tensed when it felt familiar.
She hurried her steps, not wanting another fight, when suddenly an arm
shot out of the alleyway she was passing by, dragging her in.
She found herself looking into red eyes once again, his hand gripping
her wrist.
(Y/N) shook off his grasp roughly before he quickly pinned her against
the wall. She looked up at him with wide eyes, those (E/C) pools swirling
with confusion and anger.
“What the fuck, Bakugou! Let me go!”
(Y/N) struggled against his hands harshly, but Bakugou kept his grip
tight. (Y/N) pulled her right hand as far from him as she could, managing
to slip free, the glove she always kept on her right hand the only thing
remaining Bakugou’s grip.
Bakugou’s eyes widened as he took in the sight of the burn marks on her
wrist, but before he could say anything she reeled the hand back and
slapped him across the face.
Bakugou’s shock was short lived as (Y/N) Snatched the glove back from
him, putting it on again, and quickly Bakugou took that chance to
instead cage her in with his arms
(Y/N) took a deep breath, then spoke, sounding defeated. “What are you
doing? I’ll leave you alone now, isn’t that what you wanted? If I mean so
fucking little to you, then it shouldn’t matter if I”
“SHUT THE FUCK UP!IT MATTERS! IT FUCKING MATTERS, OKAY?!”
There was a sudden silence in the alleyway, the only sound detectable
being Bakugou’s heavy breathing.
Slowly, Bakugou opened his eyes to find her own staring back at him,
frowning
For once, they both seemed at loss for words, not knowing what to say.
“You…how can you say that after what happened?”
Bakugou only stared at her for a moment. What am l even saying? If I
just let her get away, this will all be over and I’ll never have to see her
again.
I wouldn’t have to be around her prying presence, her constant
chattering, her sarcasm and teasing words, that stupid fucking smile she
gets on her face every time I shout an empty threat at her, her bright
eyes..
He didn’t need anyone. He didn’t need her. And yet, the thought of her
walking away from him made him uncomfortable in a way he hadn’t felt
before. He hadn’t stopped thinking about her at all after the fight,
hadn’t stopped replying her hurt expression, her sad and angry tears,
her defeated tone, not being able to sleep at all last night and getting
antsy at the thought of not seeing her again.
“You said it yourself, maggot. You’re the only one I’ve acknowledged,
the only one I deem worthy enough to actually train with. I don’t.. !
don’t hate you. And I hate pretty much everyone.”
She didn’t reply, but she was still staring at his eyes.
“I.. I do hate to be confronted about my feelings, that always makes me
fucking explode and I took it out on you. You’re not…you’re not useless.”
His voice got quiet You’re strong…strong enough to fight me and keep
up with me.”
(Y/N) still didn’t reply, her eyes staring deeply into his.
He took a deep breath, “look, I’m..” his voice trailed off, “I’m sorry” He
blurted out in a quick whisper.
Her eyes widened, her lips parting in surprise.
“SAY SOMETHING WOULD YOU!” Bakugou exploded, irritated and
embarrassed.
There was another moment of silence before she slowly began to smile.
“Coming from you, short fuse, saying l’m not useless is practically a love
Confession!”
Bakugou’s entire face went red and he quickly pushed away from her
“WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU SAYING, YOU FREAK!”
(Y/N) laughed, and Bakugou looked away.
“You actually apologised!”
“Don’t get a big fucking head over it! FUCK!”
(Y/N) laughed again, and stepped closer to him.
“Bakugou…I understand it’s hard for you to be more…expressive of
positive emotions, but I think you’re getting better at it! I mean, you
basically just confessed your undying love for me and seriously, have
you ever apologised before in your entire life.”
“MAGGOT SHUT THE FUCK UP OR I REALLY WILL KILL YOU!”
She gave him another bright smile at the empty threat, and Bakugou’s
chest tightened, his fists clenching. Why the fuck do l feel like this?
“In all seriousness short fuse, if you ever do that again I will beat you up,
okay?” she continued in a sudden serious tone, staring at him with dark
eyes.
“As if you could beat me up,” Bakugou scoffed, but it was weak.
She looked up at him, her eyes no longer looking troubled, but looking
seriouss.
“Well, look, I understand you’re not going to be magically nice over
night, and I don’t expect you to be. I don’t like what you said to me
yesterday. I don’t like it when people just trample over my feelings and
treat me like l’m nothing. So I’m serious, Bakugou. Don’t do that again.”
He felt tongue tied, his instincts telling him to lash out again, telling him
to sabotage this thing before he became more invested, telling him that
it was better that way.
He forcefully stomped down that feeling.
“I won’t,” he said seriously, “as long as you keep putting up a fight.
“When do I not, she replied easily, stepping next to him, “someone
needs to be around to at least help you pretend to be a real human
being with real human feelings.”
He fought the urge to smile, keeping a straight face, “well, let’s go and
continue our training so l can fucking kick your ass, what do you say?
“I think that sounds like a plan. Except for the part where l’m totally
going to be the one doing the ass kicking.”
He snorted, ” think the fuck not.”
She laughed again as they began to walk off together, heading to their
usual training spot, both feeling significantly lighter than the last time
they saw each other.
EPISODE 14
After that, Bakugou obviously wasn’t magically nicer, but he definitely
didn’t take her for granted anymore, and she definitely noticed how he
had become more considerate.
It was the little things, like how Bakugou knew her food orders at
different restaurants, how he always waited for her at their spot with
some snacks when she was feeling particularly drained, how he offered
her good and honest pointers on how to improve and how he stood in
front of her on the train when he noticed guys getting too close and
making her uncomfortable.
She pretended she didn’t notice the way he was slowly becoming more
mindful, at least towards her, and she couldn’t help the way that she felt
warm inside whenever she noticed these things.
Moreover, her training with Endeavour stopped a few months before the
entrance exam, to (Y/N)’s relief. Training with Endeavour was just as
punishing and gruelling as she thought it would be. She couldn’t help
but cringe at the thought. If he’s so excessive with me, I can’t even
imagine what it would have been like for Shouto all those years.
Thinking about Shouto and his father only made her more upset,
wishing more than anything that she could help him and comfort him.
The day before the entrance exam, (Y/N) and Bakugou found themselves
alone together.
“I thought we weren’t training today?” (Y/N) asked, puzzled as to why
Bakugou was waiting for her outside the gates.
“Can’t afford to slack off” he snapped, walking off and leaving her no
choice but to follow him.
Training that day was harsh and gruelling, Bakugou pushing harder than
he needed to, as if trying to stop himself from thinking about
something. Afterwards, they both sat down next to each other, not
saying a word, their limbs feeling heavy.
“Thank you,” (Y/N) whispered softly, causing Bakugou to look at her in
shock.”I don’t know about you, but I learnt a lot these past ten months,
Katsu-chan.”
“Shut the fuck up, freak,” he said, without any heat.
“That’s it? Really? You’re getting soft on me, short fuse,” (Y/N) teased,
but Bakugou’s brows were furrowed.
“Bakugou? What is it?”
He looked at her, “l’ve been wondering this for a while. But your quirk is,
well arguably strong… I guess,” (Y/N) fought the urge to roll her eyes at
his backhanded compliment, “you used to go to a private school and
your family has connections. You could probably have easily gotten into
UA through recommendation if you really tried, am I right?”
(Y/N) groaned, “sometimes I hate that you’re so smart,” she moaned,
causing him to scowl at her. “I..I have my reasons.”
“Obviously. I want to know what the fuck they are.”
(Y/N) gave him a teasing smile, “oh? Interested, are we?”
“SHUT THE FUCK UP YOU FUCKING MAGGOT! I JUST WANT TO KNOW
WHY THE FUCK YOU WOULD GO THROUGH SUCH LENGTHS.”
“Because I don’t want to rely on them. On my father and mother, on
their connections. I don’t want to get into UA and become a hero in their
name. I Don’t want them to have control over my life, and it frustrates
me that they actually have such a huge influence on me and my future
actions.”
“Future actions?
(Y/N) looked away, “it’s a long story, but my family has plans for what
my hero career and…and also my personal life should entail in the
future. I don’t want them to dictate my future. Me getting into UA is a big
deal, and I want to do it through my own efforts and to be proud of what
I have accomplished that instead. Not that I think it’s a bad thing to get
through on recommendation! It’s just, I thought for me it would be more
interesting to do something people didn’t expect me to, you know?
want to not give people reasons to doubt me, my actions and my
resolve ever again.
She thought of Shouto, his cold eyes and accusations. She knew he had
probably just been angry and upset when he made them, yet she still
couldn’t help but feel angry and disappointed.
She thought of her mother, her disinterested eyes, the ones she thought
sometimes flashed with regret when they looked at her.
She thought of her father, of the eyes that didn’t really see her, but
instead saw his dream of a better reputation, of fame and riches.
This, going to school on my own, training separately trom what my
father and Endeavour planned and getting into UA independently the
way I want is just the first step. I still have some ways to go.”
Bakugou stared at (Y/N) for so long with that unwavering gaze of his that
she felt herself begin to blush under his gaze.
“I can tell there are things that you aren’t telling me.” He said after a
while shrugging. “Not that l give a shit anyway.”
(Y/N) laughed, and the tense atmosphere dissipated.
“Well, tomorrow is the final exam! And we will get into UA, and then l’m
going to beat your ass and become the number one hero!”
“Please maggot! If anyone is going to be the number one hero it’s me,
you dumb fuck!”
“I don’t think so, Katsu-chan!”
He growled and stood up quickly, getting closer to her to intimidate her
but she darted around him.
“I don’t think so Bakugou! I’m faster than you!”
“Fuck you loser! You’re not faster than me!”
“YesI am!”
Bakugou growled and chased after her, causing (Y/N) to let out a little
squeal as she ran faster.
“GET BACK HERE YOU STUPID FUCK!” Bakugou shouted at her.
“Don’t think so, short fuse! Admit I’m faster!”
Bakugou lunged at her instead of chasing her like she expected him to,
(Y/N) only realising too late as his body collided with hers, sending them
both tumbling to the ground, (Y/N) pinned under Bakugou’s weight.
“Oof,” (Y/N) let out a soft sound when her body collided with the ground,
expecting pain to explode on the back of her head, but to her surprise it
never came. Instead, her head felt warm, cradled in Bakugou’s hands.
She looked at him, surprised at the fact that he protected her head from
impact, only to find his eyes already staring at her.
“Ba..Bakugou?” she asked, causing his eyes to sharply move up to
make eye contact.
Where was he.. was he looking at my lips(Y/N) wondered, her face
heating up at his proximity.
“Admit it. I’m fucking faster than you are, shitty freak.”
She rolled her eyes, but she didn’t miss the soft blush adorning his
cheeks.
“Katsu-chan, are you blushing? she teased with a shit-eating smile on
her face.
At that Bakugou released her and violently shoved himself away from
her.
“WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK YOU SHITTY FREAK OF COURSE I’M NOT
FUCKING BLUSHING YOU FUCKING FUCK” he shouted, aggravated,
quickly trying to push himself away from her.
(Y/N) laughed at his agitation, Bakugou tensing when she reached out to
him with her right hand. He became perfectly still as she plucked
Something from his hair.
“Cherry blossom,” (Y/N) smiled, cradling the petals in her gloved hand.
Bakugou looked at her, his eyes wide with wonder. Another question
that had been plaguing him coming to the forefront of his mind.
“So, maggot, what the fuck is the deal with you and those gloves?”
(Y/N)’s smile faltered for second before she caught herself, so fast that
Bakugou would have missed it if his eyes weren’t fixedly trained on her
face.
“I just like these gloves! Look cool on me, don’t they?”
He rolled his eyes.
“That’s not it. I’ve seen you take off the glove on your left hand
sometimes, but the one on the right always stays put. And that time…”
he didn’t need to elaborate, “I saw it. Your wrist. Why the fuck would you
got to such lengths to hide it?”
(Y/N)’s eyes left his, and her cheerful manner disappeared.
“Does it matter?”
“It obviously fucking matters to you.”
(Y/N) looked up at him, and hesitantly said, “it’s nothing, really,”
Bakugou rolled his eyes again, “look, if you don’t want to tell me, then
fucking fine. But don’t go talking bullshit.”
(Y/N) shook her head, “it’s nothing you’d be interested in, I mean.”
“I wouldn’t be asking if I wasn’t interested, you fucking dumbass.”
There was a moment of silence and Bakugou left it. (Y/N) was collecting
her thoughts, she would speak when ready, he knew
“When I was younger, my best friend went through something… awful.I
wasn’t supposed to see him during that time, but I ignored the people
that told me to stay away and went to see him anyway. He wasn’t in the
best state, and when I said something I shouldn’t have, he got angry and
upset and accidently burnt me with his quirk. That’s all.”
Bakugou’s insides rolled, and he found himself wanting to blow
something up.
Preferably the mentioned best friend.
“He did this to you?
“Er, yeah,” she rubbed her wrist again, a habit that Bakugou noticed she
did when she was nervous, “um, that’s it, really. I started wearing the
gloves after it happened because I didn’t like looking at it and being
reminded of what happened. And now I just feel more comfortable with it
on, so…”
Her voice trailed off, and her eyes dropped.
Bakugou stared at her unflinchingly.
“You don’t need to hide it. It’s not your fault, and if you’re doing it for
him.”
(Y/N) snorted, “l’m not doing it for him. Not anymore. I don’t think he
gives two shits about what happened. After that he pushed me away,
and we haven’t really spoken since. Well, actually… that’s not true.
We’ve spoken, and I see him sometimes, but we haven’t had a…
pleasant conversation since then. He loves to pretend I don’t exist.
Bakugou felt his rage rise again.
“Plus, technically l do need to hide it? My parents don’t actually know
this happened, and I don’t want them to find out because that would be
a mess.”
Bakugou looked at her in surprise, “how the fuck do your parents not
know? Didn’t this happen when you were children?”
“Well yes but it hasn’t been hard to hide it from them. They don’t pay
enough attention to me for it to matter haha.” She forced out a laugh,
looking very uncomfortable. Bakugou wanted to wipe that look from
her face.
(Y/N) shook her head, “well, it’s all in the past. And I just…prefer to hide
it anyway. So that’s that.”
Bakugou found himself struggling to keep his calm composure.
(Y/N) nudged him, “don’t get angry, it’s not worth it.”
Bakugou sputtered, “WHA-WHY THE FUCK WOULD I GET ANGRY?! IT’S
NOT LIKE I CARE!”
(Y/N) smiled, “of course you don’t.” She quickly changed the subject.
“Well, tomorrow is the day!”
Bakugou pushed himself up from the ground, secretly glad for the
subject change, and (Y/N) got up after him.
After that, they were mostly quiet as they walked to the station, with
(Y/N) sneaking in glances at Bakugou every now and again, her
exhaustion making her movements slightly sluggish.
Once it was (Y/N)’s stop, she turned to Bakugou. “Good luck tomorrow
Katsu-chan! You’ll be great!”
Bakugou grunted and (Y/N) walked away, and (Y/N) could have sworn
that just before the doors closed, Bakugou’s voice muttered a low “you
too…”
She shook her head, laughing to herself slightly, “I must be more tired
than I thought..”
EPISODE 15
(Y/N) went home feeling strangely pleased and elated at the fact that she
and Bakugou spent time together. training when she thought they
wouldn’t.
The training. Yeah, that was what she was happy about.
However, as soon as she stepped through her front door, the giddy
feeling soon faded, sharply replaced by surprise to find her father
waiting for her.
“Hello, father,” she said unsurely, not used to finding him at home often.
“(Y/N),” her father nodded at her, “I wanted to ensure you’re ready for
the exam tomorrow. I thought you said you’d be home early today?”
“Yes, I was going to come home but, um, Bakugou and I decided to train
once before the exam.
Her father eyed her critically, “I still don’t understand why you chose to
do training with this boy, Shouto would have been a much better fit.”
“Father,” she interrupted, not wanting to have this conversation again,
“It’s done, okay? Plus, after all the training with Endeavour, I don’t see a
reason to complain. Bakugou has been a great partner and I feel that
have learnt a lot from him.”
Her father frowned at her, “look, (Y/N). About you and Shouto”
“Father, it’s quite late, and I’d like to be well rested for the exam
tomorrow. Please, can we talk about this another time?”
He sighed, “very well. There’s no rush either way, there’s plenty of
time…”
She couldn’t help but frown, then quickly schooled her expression into
a blank one, “right, well, goodnight father”
“Goodnight (Y/N). Make us proud tomorrow.”
The next day, (Y/N) woke up well rested and got ready for the day. She
decided to text good luck messages to both Izuku and Bakugou, but
unsurprisingly, only Izuku replied.
Once (Y/N) arrived at the location she texted Izuku.
(Y/N):
Hey hey, my cinnamon roll, too good for this world, too pure. Where are
you?
Sunshine Child:
Hi (Y/N)-chan! ‘m just arriving at the station, I’Il be there in a few
minutes!
(Y/N):
Alright green bean, I’ll be waiting outside .
Y/N) leaned against the wall, observing all the people walking past. She
couldn’t help but smile when a few minutes later, she saw Izuku
approaching, his muttering visible even from a distance.
Her heart grew fond. She wanted to get into UA, sure, that was her
priority today, but Izuku. She would give him the world if she could. She
wanted more than anything for him to succeed, to see his hard work
paid off. (THIS BITCH MAKES ME SO SOFT I SWEAR I JUST WANT
IZUKU TO BE HAPPY GODDAMMIT)
For the past 10 months, since she started training with Bakugou, Izuku
had distanced himself, absorbed with his own mysterious training. She
didn’t know how exactly he had been training, but she knew that he
worked extremely hard and she was ridiculously proud of him for being
here. She knew he could do it, and she believed without a doubt that if
anybody deserved to get into UA and become a great hero, it was him.
The literal embodiment of sunshine.
However, her fond thoughts were interrupted as she saw Bakugou
approaching behind Izuku.
“Outta my way, Deku!” she heard him snarl.
“Kacchan!” Izuku exclaimed.
“Don’t stand in front of me. I’ll kill you.” He said in a dark threatening
tone, unlike the one he used with (Y/N).
(Y/N) frowned. Why can’t he just be nice to Izuku for once?
Izuku began freaking out, waving his arms in front of him. “M-Morning.
L-Let’s both do our best…”
Predictably, Bakugou ignored him, walking ahead. She caught his eyes
and debated whether or not to go and say hi, but before she could make
her mind up, he had already looked away, progressing into the venue.
She felt something akin to disappointment, but forced herself to look
back to see if lzuku had seen her. He was once again facing forward, but
before she could call out to him, he tripped over his own feet
(Y/N) mentally face palmed. Of course this would happen to Izuku, that
fucking dork.
Before he could reach the ground however, he was levitating, a girl
behind him smiling worriedly.
(Y/N) watched, amusedly, as Izuku became increasingly flustered, a
blush rising to his face and making her smile. She was so going to tease
him about this later, especially when she saw that he became tongue
tied as the girl did all the talking and walked away.
He’s such a mess, she thought fondly as he finally noticed her looking.
He walked towards her, stroking his neck, “you saw that?”
“Every second of it,” she said amusedly, “you’re a walking disaster,
Midoriya lzuku.”
Izuku blushed bright red again.
“It’s okay, Izuku. It was very cute, I’m sure your new lady friend thought
So too.”
Izuku sputtered, his face practically smoking, “(Y/N)-chan!”
She laughed as she wrapped her arms around his shoulders and gave
him a soft hug. He slowly hugged her back, resting his head against her
shoulder.
“You’ll do amazing” she whispered to him, “I know you will. No one
deserves this more than you.”
She felt his soft smile against her shoulder.
“Thank you, (Y/N)-chan. I know you will too.”
They eventually pulled away, making their own way into the venue.
(Y/N) spotted Bakugou straightway, and approached to sit down next to
him, Izuku sitting on her other side.
“Hey short fuse.”
He turned to face her, giving her the default blank expression that she
was accustomed to seeing when other people were present.
“Shithead he replied, then faced forward again, clearly not in the mood to talk.”
Present Mic soon began the presentation, (Y/N) on one side trying not to
laugh at Izuku’s fanboying, Bakugou on the other telling Izuku to shut
up.
The exam was then explained, everyone ready to go. Bakugou soon left
without saying another word to (Y/N) and Izuku, heading to his battle
centre.
Before they parted ways, (Y/N) reached down and gave lzuku’s hand a
brief squeeze.
“Good luck,” she whispered to him, making him smile again.
To be honest, if she could spend the rest of her life making him smile, she
would sign the fuck up to that.
“You too, (Y/N)-chan”
Once she got onto the fighting area, standing outside the gates along
with everyone else, her eyes caught bright looking red hair, and she
stared, mesmerised at sharp spikes.
The boy must have felt her eyes on him because he turned around and
met her eyes.
“Hi there!” he said with a friendly tone, shooting her a big sharp toothed
smile.
“Hello,” she said back dazedly, her eyes now trained onto his sharp
teeth. She quickly snapped out of it though and began fidgeting with
her wrist.
As far as making friends go, she wasn’t the best. Sure, she thought was
friendly and nice enough, but only with people that she knew and was
close to, like Izuku. But that was as far as it went. Talking to new people
was not her fort.
He must have caught the discomfort in her tone because his smile
dimmed a little, and she felt her pulse rise. No, no, it’s not you, it’s me,
she wanted to say, but instead ended up blurting out: “I love your hair:”
At that his eyebrows raised, and she mentally face palmed.
What the fuck. Why. Why is this my go to when I meet people? Why
“Um, I mean, really cool looking, spiky and…yeah. Suits you. I mean, it’s
so bright you know, and the spikes look so firm and sharp, I kinda really
wanna touch them-
Kill me now.
Instead of being weirded out and walking away like she expected him to,
the boy laughed. She found that she really liked his laugh, her nerves
calming somewhat.
“Thank you!” he said, once again smiling brightly
For some reason, she found herself of thinking about one of the heroes
She and Izuku used to talk about when they went through his notebook.
“It, um, I don’t know why, but the red hair and the spikes that look like
horns kind of remind me of Crimson Riot.”
She trailed off abruptly once she caught the look in his face, with stars in
his eyes.
He took a step forward, bright eyed and she began to panic.” Oh god
what, why did I say that?”
But to her surprise and delight, he formed a fist close to his heart,
closed his eyes and whispered, “you know Crimson Riot! So manly,” in a
passionate tone.
She found herself smiling at the scene, despite her mind asking what’s
with this guy. I like him already.
He opened his mouth, about to say something before he was
interrupted by Present Mic’s loud voice.
Immediately, both of them faced forward, seriously.
“Good luck!” she quickly said to him, shooting him a smile, “hopefully,
next time I’ll see you, it’ll be at UA, manly man!”
He smiled back, “you too! If we both make it, next time, I may even let
you touch my hair!”
And then the exam began.
It was all a blur, everyone scrambling to get as many points as they
could. (Y/N) was glad she had come a long way at controlling her
shadow quirk and using spirits to boost her stamina as she tried her
best to get rid of as many robots as she could.
By the end of the exam however, with the adrenaline worn off, she was
left sore and tired, her limbs felt like lead and she wanted to sleep for
about two days. That sounds about perfect right now.
She felt she did well, destroying as many as she possibly could, so she
had a good feeling. However, her good feeling vanished as she caught
sight of Izuku coming from the infirmary, looking absolutely defeated.
“Izuku-chan! Are you okay? How did it go?” she asked, only to be met
with frighteningly blank eyes.
“I Didn’t get a single point”
(Y/N)’s heart dropped. She was worried when she heard he was in the
infirmary, but she didn’t expect…
“What?”
Izuku shook his head.
“Oh, Izuku…” she wrapped her arms around him as he buried his face
into her neck, “what happened?”
“It just… it went by so fast, and before I knew it…”
She fought back the tears that sprung into her eyes at his broken voice.
“I took down that massive robot because it was about to hurt that girl,
but..”
(Y/N)’s breath caught. The massive robot that wasn’t worth any points.
He took it down to save another participant?
“Izuku, l’m sorry.”
“Don’t, (Y/N)-chan,” he muttered,”I don’t want to talk about it.” She
gave him a small squeeze.
“Don’t give up, Izuku-kun” she whispered to him, “you’ll know the
results in a week. Don’t give up, okay?”
Izuku looked defeated and doubtful, but nodded. “I’m sorry, (Y/N)-chan,
I just don’t think I’ll be good company right now..”
“Are you sure, Izuku? I mean, if you want to be alone I get it but”
“I do want to be alone now, (Y/N), I’m sorry. I’m fine, really, but l just
want to think things over. I’ll text you when I’m home, okay?”
“Alright, Izuku-chan” She reached out to squeeze his shoulder softly,
“get home safe.”
“I will.”
After that, she watched as he walked away, thinking of what to do. He
was one of her best friends, she couldn’t possibly stand by, right? She
had to at least try to make a difference.
So she then headed in the opposite direction, waiting around until she
spotted Present Mic
“Present Mic! Please, can I have a moment! she jogged up to him as he
turned around
“Ah, hello! What can I help you with?”
“Thank you, sir. I…I would like to ask about the point system. I
understand that we were told we would get hero points if we defeated
specific robots, but what about the robots with no points? Being a hero
involves being able to do heroic deeds without rewards, and Izuku-“
“Midoriya Izuku?” Asked Mic, listening attentively, looking way too
excited and (Y/N) felt hope flutter in her chest.
“Yes! He saved someone from getting hurt by bringing down the gigantic
robot. Surely, that’s got to count for something, right? He didn’t get
villain points, but he took down that massive thing and that proves he’s
more than strong enough, not to mention empathetic enough to be a
hero, so…”
“I’m afraid the rules were laid out before the test.”
She looked at him pleadingly, “I know that, but…”
Trust me, we at UA take all the aspects of being a hero into account and
seriously. The results next week will tell you all you need to know, and
you must accept them. There is no use in worrying further.”
She looked at him with narrowed eyes, “the school wouldn’t make the
mistake of turning away such potential, right?”
He looked at her with a twinkle in his eyes, and she felt hope rise in her
chest, “you will see!”
When she walked home, she felt better. There was no way lzuku would
be turned away, right? He was amazing after all, just like she thought he
would be. But still, she worried about how bad he must be feeling, and
even though she was almost sure that Izuku would be awarded points,
she couldn’t afford to give him false hope only for it to be crushed later.
In the end, she settled for looking after him and spending the rest of the
week trying to cheer him up, telling him not to lose hope until the result
letters came.
She was delighted to find that she was accepted, getting second place.
The explanation of rescue and villain points made her feel better, since
that meant Izuku definitely had points!
She was even happier when Izuku called her, joyously telling her the
good news, making her smile stupidly into the phone.
After his call, she debated whether or not she should call Bakugou. They
hadn’t spoken much for the last week, since they no longer had reason
to train together. (Y/N) knew that if she called him he would probably be
a dick, but as much as she hated to admit it, she… sort of missed him.
Kind of. Just a little.
She decided to text him instead.
(Y/N)
Hey Katsu-chan! I got into UA! How did you do?
Short fuse:
Of course I fucking got in, what the hell did you expect.
She smiled, rolling her eyes affectionately. As full of himself as always.
(Y/N):
Fucking superb you funky little ball of anger issues
Short fuse:
FUCK YOU MAGGOT
She laughed, her heart racing. Soon, she was going to be at UA, carving
her own path, and she would have her friends along with her.
She couldn’t wait.
EPISODE 16
On the first day of school at UA, Shouto waited around for the class to
start. A huge part of him was curious as to whether he would see (Y/N),
wishing for her to be in his class, whilst the bigger part of him that
wanted to keep his distance and wished she wasn’t.
In order to take his thoughts away from her, he resolved to observing his
classmates. There were two guys, one with bright red hair and the other
a vibrant blond talking to a pink girl animatedly. In fact, not only them,
but a few of them were already making conversation, such as the short
bird guy who seemed to be in a deep conversation with the giant guy
that had multiple arms, and so on.
Unlike all these conversing students however, Shouto had no plans to
get cosy with his classmates, which was why his attention was caught by
the two boys who seemed to be fighting at the front of the classroom.
Or, well, a more accurate description would be one of them was clearly
agitated, berating a bored and angry looking boy, who was leaning back
carelessly into his chair, giving off an indifferent aura, accentuated by
the thoughtless way his legs were splayed on the desk in front of him.
Shouto observed the tall dark haired boy waving his hands around
wildly, gesturing at the table. “Don’t put your feet on the desk!”
“Huuuhh?” the blond drawled with a condescending smirk on his face
The agitated hand motions increased. “It is extremely rude and
unbecoming of a hero to display such behaviour as soiling our school’s
desks! Don’t you think it’s rude to our UA upperclassmen and the
people who made the desk?”
“Nope. What junior high did you go to, your side character?”
They continued arguing, and as it went on, Shouto could see that the
dark-haired boy’s blabbering was starting to irritate the blond. Shouto
watched the way he was gradually tensing, and he braced himself fora
fight between the two to start, when he saw something out of the corner
of his eyes that made his breath catch.
(Y/N). She was standing by the door, her eyes bright and a big smile
pulling at her face, looking excited for what was to come. She looked so
elated and happy, but Shouto could tell she was nervous too, if the way
She rubbed her wrist as any indication.
He could feel a prickling of guilt beginning to build inside him, just
looking at her.
For one thing, he was again reminded of what he’d done, how he’d hurt
her and pushed her away like she meant nothing.
And yet, a bigger part of him, every time he saw her, was elated at the
fact that she was with him, the fact that she was apparently also in his
class.
He quickly tried to push away that feeling. It wasn’t worth
contemplating it; he didn’t intend to make friends, and that was that. At
the rate things between them were going, her being in his class was
made no difference and had no importance.
But still, he was unable to stop looking as her eyes roamed this room,
his eyes widening as she stopped rubbing her wrist and began making
her way into the classroom purposefully, as though she had a mission.
Shouto turned his head to see where she was heading, only to start
when he realised she was walking toward the blond and dark-haired
guy.
He immediately got on guard. If a fight broke out now, she would
probably get caught in it or instigate it. He knew, even at their old
school, she couldn’t stand rude people or people that picked on others,
and he figured she was probably on her way to help the waving-hands-boy
talk to the angry one.
He braced himself for a fight to start, unconsciously preparing to jump in
now, even though just a minute ago he resolved not to get involved with
his classmates.
He watched as she walked over to the blond, grabbing his legs from
where they were situated on the desk and casually shoving them off the
surface. She then naturally sat down with her front facing the back of
the chair in front of him, and in turn, facing the angry blond, who really
did look like he was about to explode now.
Shouto fought the urge to sigh tiredly. Does she really have to go and
pick a fight with the most murderous looking guy in the class? Great.
He prepared to stand, with the intention of heading over, but instead
froze in place as he took in the scene in front of him.
“ls it really your thing to aggravate every person on your first meeting,
Katsu-chan?” (Y/N) easily said to the blond, smiling teasingly at him.
Shouto gaped.
“is it really your thing to not know how to mind your fucking business,
dipshit?” the blond countered, his fists clenching
(Y/N) only laughed, “it really is my business, someone has to stop you
from killing every person you come across.” The blond opened his
mouth to argue, but (Y/N) turned to looK at the dark-nalred body
“I’m so sorry about him! He’s a bit…well a lot actually…temperamental.
But he’s all bark and no bite!” the blond growled threateningly, and
(Y/N) laughed again, “um, well, mostly. I would ask him to apologise to
you but the chances of Katsu-chan apologising to anyone is as likely as
my parents giving a shit about me as a person… that is, not a fucking
chance in hell.”
There was a moment where dark-haired boy gaped at her and Shouto
noticed a small smirk beginning to quirk up on the blond’s face before
he tamed it and went back to his default angry expression, looking less
like he was about to lunge at the dark-haired guy.
(Y/N) gasped as soon as the words left her mouth, and quickly stood and
bowed to the dark-haired boy.
“I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to swear at you, hanging out with this explosive
moron really has rubbed off on me! l’m (L/N) (Y/N)! Pleasure to meet
you.
“Oh, uh, lida Tenya. It’s nice to meet you too.” he chanced another
suspicious glance at Bakugou.
“I really am sorry about him, lida-san. This is Bakugou Katsuki.”
Bakugou grunted and at that time, and looked away, clearly done
acknowledging Lida’s presence. (Y/N)’s eyes focused on point behind
lida and Shouto thought they seemed to brighten again.
Shouto followed her gaze but didn’t see anything other than a green
haired boy, who looked like he was a second away from pissing his
trousers from both sheer nervousness and excitement.
(Y/N) looked about to say something but then caught herself, glanced at
Bakugou and then frowned, seeming unsure all of the sudden.
“Excuse me,” said Lida, shooting one last disapproving glance at
Bakugou as he made his way to a broccoli haired boy.
He heard (Y/N) sigh. “UA is a dream, short fuse. Please don’t make it
worse than it has to be? I know it’s not part of your not-giving-a-fuck
aesthetic, but you could at the very least not be a dick to people”
“Maggot, I’m not here to make fucking friends with the damn extras, so
fuck off.” he growled, still looking away.
“Katsu-“
“Everyone, take your seats.” Everyone in the class was suddenly startled
by a voice coming from the front of the class, where a haggard looking
a guy with eyebags for days stood. He seemed to have just stepped out of
his caterpillar sleeping bag, saying, “it took eight seconds before you
were quiet. Time is limited. You kids are not rational enough. I’m your
homeroom teacher, Aizawa Shota. Nice to meet you.”
Everyone looked at the hobo-looking guy in surprise and headed to
their seats, (Y/N) turning around in hers to face the front. Aizawa then
proceeded to give them their gym uniforms and asked them to meet
outside
As everyone headed outside, Shouto made his way to the front, and
(Y/N) must have finally felt his eyes on her because she turned and made
eye contact. Her eyes widened, and she looked as though she wasn’t
sure of what to do. Finally, she gave him a hesitant smile, and she
opened her mouth to say something, before her attention shifted as the
a red-haired guy from earlier slid up next to her.
“Hey!” he said brightly, walking next to her, Shouto following behind,
“you’re the girl from the entrance exam!”
(Y/N) smiled at him, looking pleasantly surprised, “hey there, manly
man! Good to see you made it!”
“I’m so glad you’re here! I know the exam was long and gruelling, but l
actually saw you in action! You were amazing, so manly!” he said
excitedly, and Shouto was annoyed to see a pleased flush reach (Y/N)’s
cheeks.
“Aw, you thought so?! Thank you! l’m sure you were amazing too!”
He smiled brightly, “l’m Kirishima Eijirou! Nice to meet you!”
“(L/N) (Y/N)!” she replied with a big smile, and said teasingly, “so, about
your hair”
Kirishima laughed in surprise, “right! Since you did amazingly well in
the exam and recognised the manliness that is my hair and Crimson
Riot, I WILL ALLOW YOU TO TOUCH IT! I WILL ALLOW YOU TO TOUCH THE
BUTT!” his eyes widened, “er, the hair I mean! Sorry, I’ve probably
watched Finding Nemo too many times.”
(Y/N) laughed again, “ahhh, I’m honoured!” She reached out and
Kirishima tilted his head towards her, allowing her to smoothly and
carefully touch over the spikes. She gasped softly, then withdrew her
hand.
“I touched the butt,” she whispered slowly, causing Kirishima to laugh.
Shouto looked on, perplexed.
“How much hair gel do you put in there? Damn,” she whistled, looking
over appreciatively, “you’re like one of those really cool anime boys with
both the style and colour. So it’s really inspired by Crimson Riot, then?”
“Oh yes! I love Crimson Riot, he’s my favourite hero! Plus, it’s all for the
sake of a manly aesthetic,” he confided, making her smile and give him a
thumbs up.
“Well, it works! I stand by what I said that day, you really do look so
cool.” Her eyes then brightened, “or, er, very manly.”
A pleased flush reached Kirishima’s cheeks, “thank you!”
They continued chattering for a little while, Shouto no longer listening
- Frankly, Shouto couldn’t help but be annoyed, but he tried to ignore
that feeling.
I mean, who cares about the fact that she complimented Kirishima on
his hair and called it cool? Not that it mattered at all, but she called his
hair cool first. Plus, she had also told him his eyes were beautiful, so this
Kirishima guy didn’t have anything on that.
Shouto slowly nodded to himself, satisfied. Yes, that’s right.
EPISODE 17
By the time Kirishima and (Y/N) finished talking, they reached the
school grounds and Aizawa announced that they were having a physical
fitness test using their quirks.
Aizawa first called Bakugou to the front since he had the highest score
on the entrance exam.
“DIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!” Bakugou yelled as he threw the ball, a short
moment of deadly silence descending upon the statement’s wake.
“Die?!” muttered Izuku nervously, looking terrified whilst (Y/N) burst out
laughing
“Pfft-ahahahahhah ‘die’ he says, oh my god, ahahahha,” she clutched
at her stomach whilst Bakugou turned and gave her a murderous glare,
“shit, short fuse, you really know how to make a first impression
ahahahahah-“
“SHUT UP THE FUCK UP DIPSHIT!”
“Alright,” muttered Aizawa, looking exhausted, “let’s all be civil and
continue the lesson so we can finish this and go home and question our
existence.”
The class blinked at him. He stared back, unflinchingly.
“Anyway..” (Y/N) muttered, trying to dispel the awkward atmosphere,
“good pep talk sensei! l’m ready!”
“Yeah! PLUS ULTRA!” shouted Kirishima beside her, the rest of the
students slowly relaxing and echoing the chant back.
And so, the quirk apprehension test began.
Everyone was doing their best, except for a certain broccoli boy who was
quietly having a mental breakdown.
(Y/N) became increasingly worried as she saw Izuku was refusing to use
his quirk. Why isn’t he using it? Luckily, she didn’t need to have worried
as everyone was taken aback once Izuku finally used his quirk.
“Wooooo! Amazing, Izuku-chan!” (Y/N) cheered, a bright smile adorning
her face as she clapped.
Shouto looked at her curiously, had a chance think “lzuku-chan?” before
Bakugou lost it.
“What’s the meaning of this?! Hey! Tell me what’s going on, Deku, you
bastard!” he snarled furiously as he charged at Izuku.
Izuku started trembling, his life flashing before his eyes as an enraged
Bakugou got closer.
(Y/N)’s eyes widened, “Katsu-“
But thankfully, just as Bakugou was about to reach Izuku, Aizawa
apprehended him.
“Calm down, or you will have to leave,” he said calmly as opposed to
Bakugou, who was practically trembling with rage.
“Katsu-chan, please-“
Bakugou turned to look at her, a crazed look in his eyes. A few of their
classmates took a step back from the force of his gaze, but (Y/N) only
stared back.
“DID YOU FUCKING KNOW?!”
She frowned at him. “Katsu, calm down-“
“YOU KNEW ABOUT SHITTY DEKU’S QUIRK, RIGHT? FUCK! BOTH OF YOU
ARE LYING FUCKS-“
“Bakugou!” Aizawa said firmly as (Y/N)’s eyes widened, “stop it, right
now.
Bakugou took a few deep breaths, grinding his teeth before Aizawa
finally released him.
Izuku slowly came to stand next to (Y/N).
“I’m sorry, (Y/N), I didn’t mean to-“
She shook her head, “not your fault, Izuku.”
“But”
“Don’t worry about it. I’ll talk to him.” She shook her head and gave him a
bright smile, “anyway, Izuku-chan, that was amazing! Good job my
loveliest bean!”
He smiled, blushing and scratching the back of his neck, “um, thank you
(Y/N)-chan.”
The physical tests continued, and (Y/N) could practically feel the anger
radiating from Bakugou the entire time. She stayed away from him in
the hopes that he would calm down, since she knew better than to
Confront him right away when he was mad about Izuku.
Once the test was finally over and they were told no one was getting
expelled, everyone was a mix between ecstatic, betrayed and confused.
“Izuku-chan, should I come with you to the infirmary” Izuku noticed
that as she said this, her eyes were trained on Bakugou’s figure as he
stormed away.
“It’s okay, (Y/N)-chan. You should go after him. I’m fine, I promise.”
She gave him one last worried look before she rushed after Bakugou,
unaware of Shouto’s eyes following her.
“Hey, short fuse! Wait up!”
She ran after him until she was walking by his side, but he still didn’t
acknowledge her.
“Hey, Katsu-chan,” she said more softly, “talk to me.”
He turned to glare at her, “stop fucking acting so innocent. You fucking
knew!”
“Of course I knew he had a quirk! He used it at the entrance exam!
“THAT’S NOT WHAT I FUCKING MEAN! You knew before then that he was
lying about being quirkless and.”
“No, Bakugou” she said firmly, “all I know about Izuku’s quirk is that it
developed late. I don’t even properly know how it works or what it does.
Really. Izuku isn’t a liar, Bakugou, and you don’t really have the right to
feel so betrayed because he didn’t tell you, especially with the way you
treat him.”
He glared at her, but she continued, “this issue you have with lzuku, now
is your chance to solve it. You’re both at UA, you’re both going to
become great heroes,” Bakugou scoffed at that but she ignored him, “see
really, I know you’re practically incapable of doing this at this point, try
to not resort to violence? One day, I know you two can move forward.”
“Fuck off.”
“Bakugou”
“No, really maggot. Just shut the fuck up. I don’t want to fucking talk
about this anymore.” He took a deep breath, looking away from her, “I
believe you. But if you’re going to keep talking about shitty Deku-“
“Okay,” she said with a frown, “listen, l care about you, but I care about
Izuku too. So, if you hurt him…”
“We’re training to become fucking heroes, we’re not going to fucking
hold hands and sing kumbaya”
She rolled her eyes, “do you always have to be so fucking annoying?
Really, do you seriously never get tired of hearing yourself because-
“I’m just fucking saying it like it is, maggot.”
“I understand you and Izuku are not going to have the best experience
together going forward, but,” she paused, sounding much more serious,
“Bakugou, if you hurt him just because you want to, because you can,”
she paused again, looking more and more upset.
“What? You’re finally going to leave me alone? I fail to see the fucking
downside”
She glared at him, but Bakugou could see her disappointment.
“You..ugh. Fine, whatever Bakugou. I’m going to check on Izuku, then
Before he could reply, she was already making her way back to where
she came from.
The fuck is she getting upset for, like l’m ever going to be “nice” to that
bastard Deku. Like he’s even fucking worth my time, he’s nothing but a
pebble in my path..”
He trailed off as he watched her walk away, trying to shake her
disappointed expression from his head.
EPISODE 18
(Y/N) caught Izuku coming out of the infirmary.
“lzuku-chan!”
He turned to her voice, a warm smile on his face. “(Y/N)-chan! Is
everything okay?”
“Kind of? Well, as okay as they can be when it comes to Bakugou.”
He looked at her worriedly.
“It’s fine, Izuku-chan. What about you?” she reached for his hand and
found his finger was healed. A frown came onto her face.
“What’s wrong, (Y/N)-chan?”
“I didn’t say anything back then, but at the entrance exam, you broke a
lot of bones” Izuku grimaced but she continued, “and now, you’ve
broke a finger. It’s progress, sure, but is it really a good thing if your
quirk keeps hurting you?”
“(Y/N),” Izuku paused, “I’m sorry for worrying you.”
“It’s not about me, Izuku, it’s about you.”
“I know, I know (Y/N). But well, you know, with the quirk developing
late” his eyes shifted away, and (Y/N) fought the urge to roll her eyes at
the obvious way he was lying, “you know, I still need a bit of time to
develop it and get used to it. But I’ll master it.”
She eyed him for a few moments, then sighed, “I’m not stupid, Izuku-
chan. I know there’s something you’re not telling me.” He opened his
mouth to protest but she shook her head, ‘”I Understand, there’s
something that you don’t want me to know. I won’t ask if you won’t tell,
but only if you promise to be careful, Izuku. I’ll always help you and be
there if you need me, okay?
Izuku smiled at her thankfully, “I know, (Y/N)-chan…” he pushed for a
minute, then said with one of the brightest smiles and a soft blush, “I’m
so happy to have a friend like you, (Y/N)!”
She felt herself blush happily, and smiled back at him, “that’s my line,
Sunshine boy.”
On the way out, Lida approached them, already waving his hands
frantically. He quickly greeted (Y/N) and Izuku, then proceeded to talk
about the entrance exam and Izuku’s amazing feats. (Y/N) listened but
her mind was already drifting to so many different places.
She saw Shouto today. She was so happy to see they were in the same
class, hoping this would once again give them the opportunity to be
friends again.
In the past, (Y/N) was too hurt and afraid of what could happen to them
that she ended up running away from her feelings because she thought
that space would be good for them. But they had had enough space,
hadn’t they? Would she finally be able to convince Shouto that they
were still friends?
And Bakugou. In reality, she was much more upset about the events that
unfolded today than she let on. Since the sludge villain accident and
since he started training with (Y/N), Bakugou hadn’t bothered izuku
much, so stupidly, (Y/N) pushed away the thoughts about the dark,
hateful look he got in his eyes whenever Izuku was involved. Seeing it
again today brought back ugly feelings and thoughts, and she’d rather
not think about them.
After all, she thought of Bakugou as her friend for sure, but she had only
considered him a friend after they began training and getting to know
each other a little, when he stayed away from Izuku. Could she really
stay by his side if he was so hateful towards Izuku? (Y/N) loved Izuku,
and would do anything to protect him and make him happy, so today’s
reminder that Izuku’s happiness and Bakugou’s satisfaction were
mutually exclusive didn’t bode well.
She was shaken out of her thoughts when she watched the cute girl,
Uraraka, approach them, looking every bit as cheerful as she
remembered.
“Hii” she cried, waving her arms in greeting
“Oh, you’re the infinity girl,” said Lida.
“Yes! And you’re…Lida Tenya-kun, um, (L/N) (Y/N)-chan, and you’re
Midoriya Deku-kun!” she replied excitedly.
“Deku!” Izuku gasped, looking embarrassed.
“Yes, that’s what that angry Bakugou guy called you right?”
There was a moment of silence as they all had horrifying flashbacks of
Bakugou yelling “DEKU YOU BASTARD!” with his murderous look.
“Oh, um, that’s not really my name, that’s just what Kacchan calls me to
make fun of me…”
“But I like it! It sounds like you can do it’!” she replied with a big, sweet
smile
(Y/N) predicted what Izuku was going to say a second before he said it.
“I’m Deku!” Izuku loudly blurted, causing Lida to fuss over him and (Y/N)
to snort as Izuku buried his blushing face in his hands.
All four of them walked off school together. (Y/N) looked over at Uraraka
and Lida, who seemed to be having fun talking to Izuku.
Izuku, these two have already seen how incredible you are. She found
herself smiling. I’m so happy for you.”
“Eh, (L/N)-kun, why are you smiling?” Lida questioned, looking at her
Curiously.
(Y/N) laughed, “nothing! Just happy is all. Being here at UA is my dream,
andI managed to get along with my friends!” she was in the same
class as lzuku, Bakugou and Shouto after all! “And the people in our
seem awesome! What’s there not to smile about?
“Friends?” Uraraka questioned.
“(Y/N), Kacchan and I come from the same school,” Izuku replied.
“Wait, you’re friends with Bakugou-kun?” Uraka questioned again,
Sounding incredulous, “I thought for sure he was going to kill you and
Deku-kun during the test today!”
“It’s true,” Lida said pensively, “I mean, what you both said. (L/N)-kun
and Bakugou-kun seemed to be on, er somewhat friendly terms this
morning, but he really did look as though he was going to kill you both
(Y/N) laughed, a bit uncomfortable, “Er, yes, I mean, we’re kind of
friends? I mean, I do consider him my friend but I’m sure if you asked
him about it he would first blow you to smithereens then absolutely
deny it. He’s hard-headed that way.”
lida frowned “but, after seeing him for only a day, I can see he, no
offence” he gestured at Izuku, “he hates Midoriya-kun. You’re also
friends with Midoriya-kun?”
At that she looked away, “well, yes. It’s a mess, honestly, but I care
about them both. Sorry again about his behaviour today by the way,
really, l’m sorry to say this… but you’re going to have to get used to that
from him.”
She stared at Lida, “look, I know Bakugou is a lot, and l’m not going to
defend his shitty actions, but really, deep down… like really deep deep
deep deep deep..”
“.yes? asked Lida
“..deep down, he’s really not a bad guy. You’ll get to know him, now that
you’re classmates though, so I guess you’ll find out for yourself!
Lida and Uraraka both looked terrified for a moment, before Uraraka
laughed loudly, clearly trying to dispel the tension, “well, we’re here to
become heroes, right! The first thing to overcome will be Bakugou-kun’s
temper! PLUS ULTRA!”
“PLUS ULTRA!” they all repeated, laughing amusedly. They really would
need all the patience and luck in the world to deal with Bakugou at UA
EPISODE 19
The next day, regular required classes began.
There was a huge fuss when All Might first came in through the door,
everyone becoming excited at having the number one hero as their
teacher for their Hero Basics Training class before he explained that
they would do an exercise and asked them to change into their
costumes, then gather at Ground Beta.
(Y/N) went along to the changing room, marvelling at all the cool
Costumes the other girls had.
“(L/N)-chan!” Uraraka came to (Y/N)’s side, “cool costume!”
“Oh, this?”
(Y/N) hadn’t really given a thought to her costume, since she didn’t
really mind what she wore, and so as a result, in the hero costume form,
she had left it up to the developers. The only thing she wanted added to
her costume was a cape, since she figured that would help her create
more shadows whenever she goes, no matter how small.
However, she really regretted that when she got a hold of the black skin-
tight suit with accompanying black combat boots. (Maybe picture
something simple, something along the lines of the suit Natasha
Romanoff wears). She guessed it wasn’t so bad though, since even
though it was skin -tight, at least she also had the cape behind her to
cover her.
Uraraka seemed to not be so lucky.
“Thank you, Uraraka-chan! Your costumes are cool too.”
Uraraka seemed to be blushing, “Im kind of embarrassed to be honest,
maybe I should have taken costume design more seriously.” she self
Consciously rubbed her arm.
“You look awesome, Uraraka-chan! Honest!” when Uraraka looked at
her with her sparling big brown eyes, (Y/N) sort of wanted to hug her and
protect her from the world, “I promise l’ll sock anyone that looks at you
weirdly. Specially that short grape dude, man I didn’t even talk to him
but he gives me the creeps
Uraraka smiled at her thankfully, looking more relaxed.
They both made their way to Ground Beta, where many students were
already gathered.
(Y/N) looked around curiously at her classmates costumes of choice
Some of them were cool and simple, like Kaminari’s or Jirou’s, some
overly intricate in a way that made her want to laugh good-naturedly
because it told a lot about the wearer, like Bakugou’s ‘aggressive
looking one, Mina’s and Aoyama’s..err interesting ones and lzuku’s,
which was basically a homage to All Might. And other’s made her cheeks
heat up, like Kirishima’s and Yaoyorozu’s (my poor bisexual heart was
in no way ready for those holyshit.)
She couldn’t help the surprise when she saw Shouto’s costume,
although really, she shouldn’t have been surprised at all. She knew how
much he resented his father and his power, and yet…having him cover
an entire side of himself made (Y/N) sad in a way she couldn’t explain.
She was too busy thinking about this that Shouto caught her looking,
his eyes (or well, his visible eye) betrays no emotion. She swallowed,
her throat suddenly dried.
She hadn’t gotten a chance to talk to him yesterday, so she hoped that
would change today.
Their eye contact broke as soon as All Might rallied all the students and
began to explain the exercise. Once everyone knew what they were
doing, it was time to split off into teams.
(For this story, (Y/N) will be replacing Shouji my boi, Hove you.)
(Y/N) felt her pulse speed up when she realised that she would be
partnered up with Shouto, a mixture of excitement and dread pooling in
the pit of her stomach.
She raised her eyes and looked at him, only to find his eyes already
trained on her, an unreadable look in his eye before he looked away
She had felt happy yesterday when she realised they were in the same
class because she felt she had a chance of fixing things between them,
but she had no idea of how to start, especially when he made no efforts
himself.
But instead, she forced herself to focus on a more pressing issue:
Bakugou had blown up at Izuku yesterday (the first day of school), and
now on the second day they were pitted against each other.
She could do nothing but watch as they made their way into the arena,
flashing lzuku a thumbs up, her smile dropping when she saw how
nervous he wasS
You can do it, Izuku, she thought, I believe in you. I know that someday,
your thoughts and feelings will reach Bakugou. I’m sure of it.
She looked nervously at the screen before the battle started, trying to
fool herself into thinking everything would be okay.
“(L/N), are you okay? Kirishima questioned, suddenly beside her.
“Nervous about this fight?
“That obvious, huh?”
“You kind of look at it. Are they your friends?”
“Um, yes. It’s very complicated though, l just hope neither of them get
hurt.”
“Well, I for one am worried about Midoriya. That Bakugou really doesn’t
like him, does he?”
(Y/N) sighed, “you have no idea. What if Bakugou really hurts lzuku?
Recovery Girl is good enough to bring someone back from really bad
injuries, like from the brink of death, right?” (Y/N) asked Kirishima with a
straight face, causing him to look at her in surprise.
“Err, I’m not sure if you’re joking or not, and it’s kind of freaking me out”
(Y/N) buried her face in her hands, “god, I wish I was joking”
She suddenly felt him gently nudging her arm.
“Hey, don’t worry about it, I’m sure All Might will stop it if it gets ugly. All
you can do from here is look after and support your friends! That’s the
manly thing to do!” he exclaimed, punching his fist into the air.
“Yeah, you’re right,” she smiled weakly, “thank you, Kirishima-kun.”
“No problem, (L/N).”
And so, (Y/N) could only watch them fight, wincing but not surprised at
the fact that Bakugou ignored Lida and went to attack Izuku by himself
Must he always be so hot-heated and stubborn?
She bit her lip as she saw Bakugou make a beeline to attack lzuku. She
felt her nails dig into her palms, her eyes widening as she saw lzuku’s
moves.
“He’s predicting Bakugou,” she breathed, and everyone turned to look
at her.
“How did he do that?” Kirishima asked, not taking his eyes off the
screen, still frowning after the “unmanly sneak attack.”
“Izuku really admires Bakugou, and he loves taking notes on heroes and
people he admires. He probably knows a lot about Bakugou’s fighting
style by now” (Y/N) replied, eyes following Izuku’s every move
As Bakugou got up after Izuku’s attack, everyone simultaneously
recoiled.
“Yikes” Kaminari said, “I thought he looked angry before, but now
By the end of the extremely intense match, everyone was finally able to
breathe, (Y/N)’s beating heart slowly settling down.
Everyone regrouped to hear All Might’s feedback, and (Y/N) stayed away
from Bakugou when she saw the look on his face. Shit, the look on his
face yesterday was nothing compared to the way he looks now. RIP
Izuku
All Might gave them their critique, and (Y/N) watched Bakugou for any
signs that he would lash out. He finally raised his head and met her
eyes, his own smouldering with contempt.
Finally, she approached him carefully. “Good fight, Bakugou.”
“ARE YOU FUCKING”
“Language, young Bakugou. It’s time for the next match.”
(Y/N) sighed and gave him some space too calm down, knowing that if
she tried to talk to him and he would most likely explode at her again. She
shouldn’t say anything else for now. Besides, it was her turn now.
Her turn and Shouto’s.
EPISODE 20
She bit her lip as she followed Shouto out, both of them deadly silent.
Before they entered the building, (Y/N) finally had the courage to speak.
“Shouto?”
He didn’t reply, but titled his head toward her to show that he was
listening.
“It’s, um,” fuck, she cursed to herself silently. Why am I so nervous now?
“We should come up with a game plan. For how to retrieve the weapon.
He stared at her with a blank look but didn’t reply. She was beginning to
feel annoyed at his indifference, but tried to be reasonable.
“Look, if we have a plan we should be able to do this together! Ojiro-
kun’s quirk is his tail, and Hagakure-kun’s quirk is invisibility, so they’re
probably going to have Ojiro guard and Hagakure attack.”
They entered the building, but Shouto still didn’t say anything.
“I mean, thinking about it logically, you could probably just use your ice
to freeze everything and retrieve the weapon without lifting a finger, but
one, this is a team effort and two.”
Before (Y/N) could even finish her sentence, Shouto swiftly stepped in
front of her and easily used his quirk to completely freeze the entire
building and his opponents. In an instant.
(Y/N) stared at the back of Shouto’s head as he began to move forward.
She felt herself beginning to tremble with rage. Well, fuck me gently
with a chainsaw, he did not just fucking.
“Shouto,” she bit out, trying to stay calm, “what the fuck was that?”
He looked back at her, and said in the most deadpan tone, “getting the
job done.”
She looked at him incredulously, “are you fucking kidding me? We could
have come up with a plan and worked together.”
“And what? Waste time? Seems highly inefficient.”
She laughed hollowly, shaking her head bitterly, staying silent for a
short moment. “So this is really how you’re going to be, then?
He raised his eyebrows at her, and she fought back frustrated tears.
“I don’t even know why l’m surprised at this point.” She wrapped her
arms around herself tightly, both from the cold and because she
suddenly felt inadequate in front of Shouto.
“I did the job. Stop being so selfish and self-centred, I did this for the
class, not to get back at you.”
She shook her head and quickly walked away from him, using her
shadows to propel herself off the ground as she went to get the weapon
without another word.
He stood in her way, “what are you doing?”
“Going to get the weapon, what else?”
“It’s too cold, I’ll just do it-“
“Get out of my way, Shouto,” (Y/N) spat out angrily, and Shouto looked
taken aback at her tone, allowing (Y/N) to brush past him quickly.
Once she touched the weapon, she went back and found Shouto were
she left him. She walked past him quickly without raising her eyes,
wanting to get away from him as quickly as possible.
God, l’m so stupid. Did I really think things were going to be different
here? That he would suddenly start talking to me again and be my
friend? That he would show me he still cared?
Meanwhile, back in the control room, everyone was gushing about
Shouto’s technique.
“Holy crap! He took them all down in a second!” Ashido exclaimed.
Bakugou watched open-mouthed, as he realised just how extraordinary
the UA students really are. At that moment, it really hit him, that he was
no longer the most special one or the strongest.
His eyes were so focused on the effect of Todoroki’s quirk that when his
eyes finally shifted to (Y/N), he was surprised to see the anger on her
face. He watched as she said something to him, and from her tense
posture he could tell she was trying to hold it in.
Holy shit. Bakugou knew from experience that it wasn’t easy to get her
angry. I mean, even Bakugou had trouble ripping her up and he was a
right asshole.
He felt an uncomfortable feeling in his chest as he registered her
feelings. God, it was so sad, the fact that he had spent enough time with
her and paid enough attention to know how she felt by looking at her
from a far and right now, to him, her anger was palpable, but what made
an uncomfortable feeling spread in his chest was the fact that she
looked hurt. She looked hurt and angry and disappointed all at once,
and he found his own discomfort increasing at that sight.
What the fuck? Since when did he care about what she was feeling? His
mind swirled with confusion. Why was she so affected by this? Sure, if
that stupid half-and-half show off had done that to him, he would have
definitely exploded (no surprise there), but (Y/N) wouldn’t get upset
over something like that. So why?
Finally, everyone regrouped at the control room, and Bakugou couldn’t
help but frown at the way (Y/N) carried herself in, looking impossibly
small. Was she really intimidated by that asshole’s quirk or something?
The exercise continued after that until they all had a go, (Y/N) remaining
at the back of the room, watching the exercises but not contributing and
looking lost in her own world.
When they were sent back to home room, she was subdued all day and
left immediately after class ended.
In the meantime, Bakugou had pushed away his thoughts of her as he
remembered his own fight and how Deku looked down on him, often
offering him his help as if he was too fucking helpless to do shit on his
own. At the end of the day, he was practically boiling with anger, both at
the fact that Deku won their battle and at the fact that that damn lcy
Hot’s quirk was as strong as his own.
He was heading home, stewing in these awful thoughts, when lzuku
thoughts, came up to him, becoming an even bigger annoyance and
spewing shit about how he got his quirk from someone else
right. As if Bakugou was stupid enough to believe something that the
shitty nerd blatantly pulled out of his ass.
EPISODE 21
Back inside UA, (Y/N) had just come out of the girls’ bathroom, making a
quickly stopped there to refresh herself before she went home.
She was wiping away the water from her face when Uraraka spotter her
up ahead, where she was standing together with Asui and Ashido.
“(L/N)-chan!” Uraraka called out, waving her over.
Reluctantly, (Y/N) approached the group.
“Oh, hi Uraraka-chan, Ashido-san, Asui-san,” she nodded at them
“Hi (L/N)!” Ashido exclaimed happily, “I didn’t get a chance to talk to
you earlier!”
(Y/N) smiled, “you were amazing today, Ashido-san. You all were!
“Thank you!” Uraraka and Asui replied.
“Todoroki’s quirk was amazing, but I wish we had gotten to see more of
you today!” Ashido added, “l’m looking forward to it!”
(Y/N) smiled uncomfortable, a bit hesitant talk about today, “right,
thanks.”
“(L/N)-chan,” Uraka hesitated, “um, are you going to see either Deku-
kun or Bakugou-kun?”
(Y/N) frowned, “uhhh, don’t you think so? I told Izuku not to wait up for me,
and Bakugou was angry as fuck all day so I’m sure he has already
stormed out.”
“Actually, we just saw them have a showdown!” Ashido exclaimed,
pumping one fist into the air, the other pointing out of the window they
were standing in front of, “Midoriya and Bakugou were talking, Bakugou
looking like he was going to kill him as always, and they seemed to be
having some sort of fight.”
(Y/N)’s eyes widened, “shit, did Bakugou.”
“It didn’t get physical thankfully”, Asui said, shaking her head, “but
Midoriya-chan looked terrified and Bakugou looked very angry when he
left. Midoriya-chan just went somewhere with All Might, but Bakugou
left the school grounds, kero.”
“Oh? How long ago was this?
“Just now. I’m sure if you run for it, you could catch up to Bakugou,” she
replied, reading her intentions.
(Y/N) gave her a relieved smile, “thank you so much, Asui-san!”
She replied with a smile, “it’s no problem, kero. Call me Tsu.”
(Y/N) couldn’t help but smile wider at this adorable bean, “Tsu-chan it is!
You can call me (Y/N)! I’Il do my best to catch up with Bakugou now, try
to prevent him from blowing something up. I’ll see you guys tomorrow!”
she jogged away, waving back as they said their goodbyes.
(Y/N) ran out as fast as she could, debating on whether or not to head to
the station or to walk.
Bakugou must be very angry, so he’s probably walking to clear his head
a bit, she thought as she headed away from the station instead, keeping
an eye out for him.
Sure enough, after a few minutes, she spotted his tense form walking up
ahead.
It was only when she caught sight of him that she hesitated. She knew
how into his thoughts he could get, and to be honest, she didn’t really
see a scenario where approaching him would end well, but she couldn’t
just leave him alone, especially if she knew he was feeling bad about
today.
Plus, a very selfish part of her wanted a distraction from thoughts of
Shouto, and she figured Bakugou was the way to do that. He always
kept her mind busy after all.
“Bakugou!” she called out in advance as she approached him, but he
kept on walking ahead.
She soon caught up with him, walking by his side. He still didn’t
acknowledge her, and she remained silent for a bit, not quite knowing
what to say.
Finally, after a few minutes of silence, he snapped. “The fuck do you
want maggot?”
She looked at him innocently, “nothing, just walking.”
“Get lost,” he growled impatiently.
“Hey, you don’t Own the pavement, l can walk wherever I want.” she
retorted, staying by his side.
He groaned, “the fuck is your deal? Our training together is done, and
we’re not fucking friends, so…”
“We’re friends,” (Y/N) interrupted with a grin.
“HUUUHH?” Bakugou yelled, startling a few by passers, “LISTEN UP
YOU FUCKING.”
“Look, short fuse, you can pretend all you like, but we’re friends. I don’t
need to hear you say it to know it’s true.”
“You’re fucking delusional maggot,” he scoffed, sounding annoyed, “and
anyways, what the fuck are you even doing here? I saw you leave the
fucking class first, thought I’d finally gotten rid of you.”
She decided not to comment on the obvious abrupt topic change.
“I was off clearing my head for a bit,” she replied.
He finally looked at her, a curious look in his eyes, “so what the hell was
that about?”
She looked at him in confusion, hoping he didn’t mean what she
thought he meant. “What do you mean?”
He sneered, “don’t fucking play dumb, maggot, what the fuck happened
to you on the test today?”
She froze. “Oh… just upset I didn’t really get to do much is all.”
He laughed mockingly, “yeah, I’m not fucking buying it.”
“It’s true! And look, the real reason why I’m here,” she hurriedly pulled
out something from her bag, trying to take Bakugou’s attention away
from the topic at hand, “ta-daaaa! Coupons to that spicy food place you
Bakugou eyed her hand suspiciously, “and why the fuck do you have
those?”
“Well, last time you took me I liked it so much that I started going
without you!” Only a couple of times actually, but for some reason one of
the guys there gave me free coupons! I didn’t know how to ask you and
they’ll expire soon, though, so how about we go today?”
“Fuck no.”
“KATSU! They sell your favourites there! And IT’S FREE FOOD! You can’t
turn me down like this man! she tugged on his arm, only to have him
shake it out of her grip harshly.
“Have better things to do that hang around your lame ass-“
“I cannot believe you’re turning down free food just because lI’ll be
there!” she puffed out her cheeks in frustration. “Why is your heart so
explosively petty, short fuse!”
He didn’t reply, staring her down with a pissed off expression.
“You know what, Kastu-chan, we’re going,” she said firmly, mentally
saying a quick prayer for her life before she once again reached out and
tugged him closer.
To her surprise however, he didn’t immediately shrug her off again.
Instead, he got this weird, pensive look in his face before he slowly
nodded.
“Well, it’s free fucking food, so go wild, I guess.”
“Always knew you were a slut for free food, Katsu-chan”, she said
teasingly before he yelled at her.
“FUCKING MAGGOT, DO YOU WANT ME TO COME OR NOT”
She laughed, “yes yes, okay l couldn’t resist.”
They walked the rest of the way in relative silence, (Y/N) being relieved
at the fact that Bakugou didn’t seem so tense anymore.
The restaurant they went to was a small one that wasn’t well known,
which (Y/N) thought was a tragedy since their food was amazing. As
soon as they walked through the door, they were assaulted with the
sweet aroma of freshly cooked dishes, (Y/N) feeling her mouth already
beginning to water.
They found a table pretty quickly and soon sat down, looking over their
menus.
“Oh, hello there (Y/N)-chan! You’re back!” came a loud, cheery, and
fucking irritating in Bakugou’s opinion, voice.
“Hi, Yukio-kun,” (Y/N) said, looking over Bakugou’s shoulder with a small
smile.
“It’s so good to see you again-oh,” he reached the table, and blinked
when his eyes landed on Bakugou. Bakugou glared back, daring him to
say anything.
The tall, brown eyed boy looked taken aback, his bright smile dimming
slightly before he forced it back up again, “you brought a friend!”
Yeah, it was really nice of you to give me those coupons, so l figured
Could share the love, right?” she replied with a smile, scanning the
menu and seemingly unaware of the blatant disappointment the other
guy was now sporting.
Bakugou couldn’t help but smirk, thinking fucking loser before snarling,
“So can we order or what?” at the guy.
“Oh, yes!” he quickly pulled out the pad, and scribbled down their
orders, looking over (Y/N) one last time before he left.
“Fucking loser,” Bakugou snorted, finally voicing his thought out loud.
“Katsu, cut it out”, she frowned at him disapprovingly, “he’s the reason
we are getting free food in the first place, stop being such a dickhead.”
“Not my fault that extra is a fucking loser,” he replied, muttering: “pretty
sure this isn’t what he had in mind when he gave you those coupons.
Fucking helpless.”
“What do you mean? It’s not rare to share coupons. Plus when you get
Coupons, isn’t it natural to use them?” she looked truly puzzled.
Is this idiot for real? Bakugou thought, before shaking his head. “you’re
a fucking moron.”
“UM EXCUSE ME SHORT FUSE, I’M PRETTY SURE IT’S YOU HERE WHO IS
CONFUSED ABOUT THE FUNCTION OF A COUPON!” she retorted loudly.
“NO SHIT MAGGOT YOU’RE THE DENSEST MOTHERFUCKER I’VE EVER
MET!”
“BAKUGOU YOU HOPE, I’M SHOVING BREADSTICKS INTO MY BAG AND
LEAVING IMMEDIATELY!”
“THERE AREN’T EVEN ANY FUCKING BREADSTICKS HERE, THE FUCK ARE
YOU TALKING ABOUT?!”
They continued to squabble, unaware of the eyes they were drawing in.
Soon enough, Yukio returned with their food, smiling winningly at (Y/N)
and left as soon as he caught Bakugou’s glare.
They ate in silence for a bit, until Bakugou finally revealed his true
colours, waiting until (Y/N) bit off a large mouthful of food.
“So, maggot, now you’re going to tell me why you really were upset
today, and no more of that bullshit you were spewing out earlier.”
(Y/N)’s eyes widened as she took a sharp intake of breath, the food going
down the wrong way and causing her to choke.
Bakugou watched with a smug shit-eating grin on his face as she
coughed, looking increasingly proud of himself as she began thumping
her chest a few times until she could finally breathe again.
“BAKUHOE, WHYYYY?” she moaned before she chugged down a few
gulps of water.
“I FUCKING CAME HERE WITH YOU SO…”
“YOU’RE TALKING LIKE I FORCED YOU TO COME TO A BORING FAMILY
“FUNCTION OR SOME SHIT, NOT LIKE I’M TREATING YOU TO FREE
DINNER! GEEZ!”
She took a few deep breaths, glaring at him.
“Come on, maggot, l’m not buying it,” he replied, looking her over,
“besides, with the way you’re acting, l already have my own theories, so
you might as well just fucking spill it.”
“What do you mean?” she asked nervously, looking down at the table
and playing with her food.
“Well, you’re the not the type to get worked up easily, so it’s clear that
this goes deeper than it seems. And then I realised earlier that the half
and the half bastard is Endeavour’s son, right?”
By the way (Y/N) was fixedly staring at the table, he knew his
assumptions were correct.
“Your father works with Endeavour, so it’s not too far fetched to think
that you might know him. That wouldn’t really mean much, but since
you’re not the type to get upset easily it means you have history with
this guy. He only used ice today, not flames,” he found himself getting
worked up again when he remembered how incredible the guy’s quirk
was. “But I’m guessing he has both quirks. Your best friend,” he gestured
at her wrist, “did that to you with his fire quirk. It’s that half-and-half
bastard, am I right?”
There was a moment of silence, and for a second, Bakugou thought
(Y/N) wasn’t even breathing before she leaned back into her chair, a fake
smile on her lips.
“Have l told you how much I hate how ridiculously smart you are?” she
questioned with the same smile.
“Fuck yes, not my fault you’re dumb as shit though,” he replied, taking
that for the confirmation that it was.
She sighed, “such a shame, you’ve got the power and the looks, yet no
charm.”
He found himself flushing embarrassedly, “YOU DIPSHIT YOU’RE
SUPPOSED TO BE IMPRESSED WITH MY INTELLECT, NOT NIT-PICKING
DAMMIT!”
She couldn’t help but laugh when she saw him blush, “alright, okay, you
got it right, happy?”
“Perfectly fucking happy, thank you very much,” he grumbled, annoyed.
She stopped smiling and looking at her meal instead, “well, you got your
answer, can we not talk about it anymore?” she asked in a small voice,
and Bakugou only thought of getting rid of that sad tone and found
himself blurting out.
Fine, let’s talk about that shithead waiter.”
She looked up frowning, “dude, what’s your deal with Yukio? He’s
literally done nothing to you!”
She looked behind him and her eyes widened before she smiled, and
Bakugou immediately turned around to find the a for mentioned
shithead smiling at her, only to quickly drop that smile as he caught
sight of Bakugou.
“Bakugou, stop intimidating him!” (Y/N) Scolded.
“Tch, can’t he take a fucking hint…” Bakugou mumbled as she looked at
him puzzledly.
“Yukio was on his break last time l came so I got to talk to him for a bit.”
He’s actually nice and he’s related to the people who run this place, so
you better not do anything shitty unless you want to get us banned,
okay?”
Bakugou rolled his eyes, “whatever, maggot, not my problem. As long as
he stays the fuck away, that is.”
“He’s our waiter, Katsu,” she deadpanned.
“Not what I meant,” he mumbled under his breath.
(Y/N) dropped it after that as they soon finished the rest of their meal,
and headed out, Bakugou glaring at Yukio one last time before leaving
“You’re such a brat, why do you have to hate everyone you meet, Katsu.”
“I’m going to have to apologise on your behalf next time l come around
again.”
“What,” Bakugou snapped, glaring at her, no longer listening, focused
on the fact that she was coming back. To see that smiling moron.
“I’m just saying, maybe you could cut back on the snarls and glares,
you’d be shocked at the difference it makes” she replied.
“l’m coming next time too,” he said with finality, not having listened to a
Word she said.
“Huh?” she looked at him in surprise, “next time? Wait, you’re coming
along without me having to beg you to?”
“I LIKE THE FUCKING FOOD HERE WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU TRYING TO
INSINUATE YOU FREAK?!”
“I didn’t even say anything!” she replied quickly, laughing joyously as
she raised her arms in surrender, “you really need to chill dude.”
He huffed as he looked away, the rest of the way filled with (Y/N)’s small
talk about some of their new classmates.
“Well, I have to go this way,” she eventually pointed to a path that
branched off from Bakugou’s own. “Thanks for coming to dinner!” she
smiled at him, and he asked as he looked away.
“Whatever maggot.” He turned around to go home, hearing her call out,
“get home safe! See you tomorrow!” before he heard her footsteps
slowly getting further.
Bakugou walked for a few minutes, thinking about that Icy Hot bastard
and how since (Y/N) confirmed his theory, his dislike of the bastard haad
increased. Not because I care about that stupid maggot, Bakugou
thought to himself, because that bastard is strong. I’m going to beat him
and be number one.
It was only when Bakugou was nearing his house that he realised, since
(Y/N) had come to see him, he had briefly stopped thinking about his
crushing defeat to that Deku bastard.
He froze when he realised, a number of negative emotions flowing
through him. She.. she took my mind off it?
EPISODE 22
The next day, (Y/N) was feeling significantly better about what had
happened with Shouto yesterday, after having spent the entire night
relaying what happened in her head. I mean, I probably shouldn’t have
become so upset. But then again, he didn’t have to be so sold and aloof
about the whole thing like always. So fuck him but also, whatever.
She still had no idea what to do regarding him, but she figured trying to
rush it would probably make it worse, and decided to let things low
naturally instead of trying to force him to open up to her again.
With those thoughts in mind, she approached the school, only to be
startled by the amount of reporters lurking outside the gates.
She approached cautiously, trying to see if she could get in undetected,
only to be startled by a shrill yell of, “Miss! Miss, you’re (L/N) Y/N), UA
student and daughter of the Necromancer, right?”
“Oh, uh, yes that’s me.” There was a murmur between the reporters as
(Y/N) tried to push past them, only to have them stand in her way.
“Excuse me, I’m trying to get to school, will you please let me pass?” she
asked as politely as she could, not liking how close to her they were
getting.
“Would you mind answering a few of our questions first? We’ve heard
that All Might is teaching students in the hero course.”
“Actually, I do mind. I’m in a hurry, and you’re in my way. It would be
better to get a statement directly from the school and All Might himself,
now let me go, I don’t want to be late.”
Before she could finish, the reporters were already ignoring her and
shooting more questions. She couldn’t even understand them as they
drew closer to her and she began to panic in such a large crowd, their
voices getting all mixed up in her head.
She tried to step away from them but they only got closer again, and
just as she felt her temper beginning to rise, she felt someone gently
grab her arm and pull her close.
“Excuse me, what do you think you’re doing?” she heard Shouto’s deep
voice by her ear, his cold tone sending shivers down her spine.
“It’s Todoroki Shouto, son of Endeavour!” Shouto’s grip tightened on
her arm.
“Let us pass, you’re blocking the school entrance,” he replied in the
same icy tone, his eyes glaring daggers at the mention of his father.
“Answer a few of our questions first.”
“I said, let us pass,” the reporters all took a startled step back at the
force of his deadly tone, and Shouto took that opportunity to gently
push (Y/N) ahead, walking closely beside her and glaring at any
reporters that made a move to stand in their way again, making them
take a few startled steps back.
Once they were safely on the otherwise of the reporter barricade, (Y/N)
retracted her arm from his grip and gave a low whistle. “Woah, you can
be really scary, Shou-chan,” she said with a laugh, her eyes widening
slightly when she realised what she called him.
His gaze snapped over to her in surprise, and she found herself flushing,
her mouth running in order to cover up, “oh, thanks a lot for that but
anyway, I totally could have dealt with it myself but you now, there were
a lot of people there and I’m not used to being in big crowds and I don’t
think they took me seriously when I said didn’t want to answer their
questions and honestly why would they not take no for an answer but I
totally could have handled it without you I mean I don’t even know
what.”
She abruptly stopped her babbling when she caught his gaze. She
mentally facepalmed.
Shit, I’ve been spending way too much time with Izuku
She coughed slightly, “err, anyways thanks, I’Il just be going on ahead”
she began awkwardly speed walking ahead, stopping when she heard
him.
“We’re going to the same class”, he pointed out as he stepped beside
her, looking at her in confusion.
“Right, yeahI knew that,” she cursed silently to herself as they walked
tense silence for a bit.
About yesterday, he began, but she stopped him
“It’s fine, you did what you had to”, she said hurriedly, not wanting to
talk about it.
“No, look, you were right. I mean so was I to be honest,” (Y/N) wanted to
be annoyed at him for saying this but instead found herself mentally
grinning at his bluntness, “but I could have done it differently and taken
you into account.” He took a deep breath, we’re in the same class
again, but my sole focus is becoming a hero, you know that, right?”
She gave out a harsh laugh, “yeah, I get it Shouto, you’re not here to
make friends,” she gave a sidelong look at him, “but you know, I never
stopped being your friend. Even if you ignore me, even if you think we’re
not friends, I know better, Shouto.”
He frowned at her, “(Y/N)”
“You’re nowhere near as slick as you think you are,” she told him with
the hint of a smile.
He looked at her in confusion, “I don’t understand.”
“You know, I can’t deny that you’ve turned into a huge jerk, Shouto. But
still, if you really didn’t care about me like you say you do… if you really
don’t consider yourself my friend, then why do you always try to do
things for me?”
“I don’t”
“Shouto, l’m not stupid. Back when I told you kids at school were
bullying me and calling me names, you wanted to find out who they
were.”
“We were friends back then,” Shouto interrupted, but (Y/N) shook her
head.
“But, according to you, we weren’t friends after that, right? But it
doesn’t take a genius to figure out what happened. You then transfer
into my school, the same school where the kids who called me names
were, and a few days after your transfer, guess what! Suddenly no one is
coming for me, the name calling stops, and everyone avoids me instead
Do you see where l’m getting with this?”
Shouto broke eyes contact, mumbling “I have no idea what you’re
talking about.
(Y/N) smiled triumphantly at the blatant lie. “Not to mention the fact
that even though you could have stopped me from doing so, you still
had lunch with me in the rooftop everyday, you still looked out for me
when we had to go to agency events for our fathers, and that day you
saw I was crying, in your own tsundere way, you tried to find out what
happened.”
“Tsundere?” Shouto questioned with a cute frown, looking more
confused than ever.
“My point is, I know you care, Shouto. You’ve hurt me when you pulled
away, and there…there were times when I truly thought you didn’t care.
A deep, hurt part of me still thinks you don’t care. But a bigger part of
me knows that you do. I know… I know you must feel guilty about what
happened between us”, Shouto tensed, and (Y/N) continued hurriedly,
“and that that, along with whatever else you’re keeping close to your
chest, is causing you to push me away. But you know, I don’t blame you
at all. I never did. We were just kids back then, Shou-chan, and you…
you had to go through things no one had to go through. Specially
not such an amazingly kind and caring boy like you,” she finished softly
as they reached the classroom doorway, Shouto deadly silent.
“So… when you’re ready to talk, just know that you’re my best friend,
and that l care about you, and that I’m here for you,” she looked back at
him again with such a tender look in her eyes that Shouto had to look
away.
I don’t deserve her, was the only thought running through his head as
she continued.
“That doesn’t change the fact that you’ve been a dick though, and what
happened yesterday just proves it.” She said in a sudden hard time, “I’m
not going to chase after you if that’s the kind of mentality you’re going
to have because we won’t make any progress that way. You’ve done
everything to try to push me away permanently, but all I’ve done is give
you space, and that’s the only thing I can keep giving you at this point.
You haven’t gotten rid of me by now, and you never will, Shouto. Deal
with it. Sooo… I’ll stop bothering you and you can come talk to me when
you’ve worked through your issues.. or when you’ve decided to let me
in again to help you.”
With that, she turned away from him and made her way into the class,
eyes brightening as she headed towards Uraraka and Asui.
Shouto stood in the doorway for a moment, rendered immobile for a
minute by her words, before he slowly stepped in, heading straight to
his seat in silence, lost in his own thoughts.
“(Y/N).. why do you always do this? Why can’t you ever make this easy?
Can’t you see l’m not good for you?
And the last thought that had been plaguing him ever since he started
pushing her away:
Why won’t you just give up?”
EPISODE 23
During homeroom, (Y/N) did her best to pretend everything was alright
in her head. Did I do the right thing? Saying all that to him?
In her mind, chasing after him wouldn’t do any good, and she didn’t
want to keep trying only to keep getting hurt by his indifference. She
had a limit, and she figured that she would stop trying to seek him out
and wait until he approached her when he worked all that angst out of
his system before she actually reached that limit.
She nodded to herself, putting those thoughts away to focus on class.
It’s for the best. For both of us.
Izuku and Yaoyorozu were then elected as class president and class
representative respectively before heading off for lunch.
(Y/N) gathered her food and sat next to Izuku as he confessed to them
that he thought he probably wasn’t suited for class president, whilst
Uraraka and Lida assured him that he was more than capable, with (Y/N)
telling him to believe in himself more. They then moved on due to
Uraraka’s loveable tactlessness to talk about Lida’s family.
“(L/N)-chan, are you okay? You’re kind of spaced out” Uraraka asked
her after a while with a furrow between her brows.
(Y/N) started, realising she had been spaced out. “Ah! Sorry guys! ‘m
fine, just.thinking about some stuff.” She gathered her tray, her food
half eaten, “I think l’m going to clear my head for a bit though, I’ll see
you guys in class!”
Izuku and Uraraka shot her concerned looks, whilst Lida just looked
confused.
“l’m fine,” she promised them as she walked away, shooting them a
genuine smile. She felt warm inside, knowing they cared about her. She
was used to it from Izuku, but having Uraraka show concern after
knowing her for only a few days was sweet.
She got rid of her food and took a deep breath, heading outside when
suddenly a loud alarm rang through the building.
“There’s been a Level 3 security breach,” an electronic voice droned
through the speakers, all students please evacuate outdoors
promptly.”
(Y/N) was confused for a moment, before registering what was going on.
She was already on her way out anyway, so she kept walking. However,
suddenly faster than she could have imagined, a lot of students burst
out into the hallway.
She felt her panic increase as she registered that soon enough she was
going to get caught in a mob, looking around desperately to see if there
was a way out before she heard her name being called out.
“(L/N)! Over here!” a hand was extended towards her, and she was
relieved to see the soft pink colour that she associated with Ashido’s.
(Y/N) immediately reached out and gripped her hand, feeling herself be
pulled in right before a bigger sea of students crowded in.
She collided with Ashido’s chest before she felt another two pairs of
arms steady her.
“Are you okay?” she heard a loud voice by her ear, turning around to see
Kaminari standing extremely close.
“Um, yes,” she said, trying to take a step back, realising she had
nowhere else to go as her back collided with a hard chest.
“Oh god, we’re going to be crushed to death here, what an unmanly way
to die” the owner of the chest groaned into her ear and she felt herself
be somewhat more relaxed. At least she wasn’t alone anymore.
“Kirishima! You of all people are going to be fine here, there is no hope
for the rest of us!” Ashido wailed as they were packed even closer
together.
“Ow!” Sero yelped as he was elbowed harshly next to Ashido,
“guuuuuuys, if I don’t make it, please tell my mum I love her!”
They were shoved closer together than before for a few seconds before
Ashido burst.
“AHHHHHHHHH!!! CAN’T TAKE THIS ANYMORE!!” Ashido yelled
dramatically, and (Y/N) didn’t have any doubts that if she could, she
would have dropped to the floor on her knees, clutching at her chest to
make her statement more legit.
She would have laughed if she didn’t suddenly feel a hard shove,
causing her to stumble forward and bury her face into Kaminari’s chest.
She could feel her cheeks heating up rapidly as she turned her face away
embarrassedly, trying to get more space between them, only to fail as
she realised she was sandwiched between him and Kirishima.
“KAMINARI YOU IDIOT STOP SMILING!” she heard Sero wail, causing her
cheeks to get even redder.
“WE MIGHT DIE HERE AND SOMETIMES YOU GOTTA LOOK AT THE
BRIGHT SIDE IN LIFE OKAY”
“KAMINARI IF WE GET OUT OF THIS I’M GOING TO KILL YOU!” Ashido
fumed, trying to pull (Y/N) closer to her instead, her efforts futile.
(Y/N) felt Kaminari shift his arms, trying to make himself comfortable,
lifting them over their heads.
“If you put those arms around me you’re dead, sparky,” (Y/N) muttered
dangerously, low enough for him to hear.
She felt him stiffen and slowly shift again, trying to keep his arms away
from her, making her relax slightly.
However, (Y/N) still felt sick and unbearably hot, beginning to find it
hard to breathe when finally there was a sudden yell.
“EVERYONE, EVERYTHING IS FINE!” she faintly recognised the voice as
lida’s “It’s just the media! There is nothing to panic about!”
As lida assured the students that everything was alright, (Y/N) finally
raised her head. Everyone stopped shoving and simultaneously
breathed a sigh of relief.
(Y/N) was finally able to shove herself away from Kaminari, causing him
to let out a disappointed “awww.
Kirishima elbowed Kaminari, “you enjoyed that way too much, dude,
not manly.”
“I did not!l enjoyed that a perfect amount, thank you very-“
“Don’t even finish that sentence,” Ashido warned, turning to (Y/N), “are
you okay?”
(Y/N) nodded shakily, her nerves calming now that’s he had room to
breathe. “God, yes, thank you so much! I don’t know what I would have
done without you, I’m not great on big crowds,” she admitted, fidgeting
slightly.
“It was nothing,” she heard Kaminari interject, his smile practically
audible.
She turned to glare at him, “don’t go getting any ideas, Mr. Brightside.”
“Hohoho, shot down,” Sero said with a laugh as they slowly made their
way back in.
Ashido threw her arm around her, “no problem! You looked like you
needed a hand, I’m always here to help!” she said with a big smile.
“Woah, thanks Ashido-san,” (Y/N) said, feeling a surge of gratitude for
her.
“No problem! Call me Mina, if you want.”
“Call me (Y/N), then,” she replied with a smile, feeling incredibly
thankful to this queen.
She spent the next few minutes of the break with them before things
settled down enough for everyone to get back to class, no more
mishaps for the rest of the day.
At the end of the day, (Y/N) said goodbye to her classmates, walking
towards Bakugou.
“Short fuseeee! Haven’t really talked to you much today!”
“And you just had to fucking ruin it, didn’tyou,” he muttered, turning
away.
“Where were you during lunch?” she asked curiously
“Eating outside, what the fuck else would I have been doing?
“Oh, good, you didn’t get caught in the stampede. l’m pretty sure you
would have blown someone’s head off haha.”
At that, he turned to look at her, “you mean, what that shitty nerd was
talking about? You were there?”
“Yeah, it was pretty scary but Mina and some of the guys helped me out!
So it was fine,” she replied, looking at him curiously, “I know it’s only
been a few days since school started but you should probably make an
effort to socialise with people. They seem really cool!”
“They’re just a bunch of damn extras, not worth my time,” he said with
finality, causing her to frown.
“You kind of sound like a more profane version of Shouto.”
He briefly stopped walking, then turned to glare at her, “don’t fucking
compare me to that fucking half n half, I’ll kill you.”
“But it’s true, I mean you two are dramatic as fuck, like would making
friends kill you?”
“Maybe not, but I might kill them.”
She gave him a look that meant I know you’re bullshitting. “Right, if you
say so.”
“And why the fuck are you following me anyway maggot? Don’t you
have to go and be stupid somewhere else?”
“Not until tomorrow” she replied with a straight face, “until then, I’m all
yours bomber man.”
“AHHH WHY WON’T YOU FUCKING LEAVE ME ALONE FUCKFACE,” he
groaned rushedly, trying to cover up how that sentence made him feel
all fucking weird inside, but she just shook her head at him.
“Dude. Bakugou. Blasty. Short fuse. In all honesty..” she stopped and
turned to look at him straight in the eyes so that he was forced to stop
walking. The force of her gaze, the seriousness in her tone and her
closeness disarmed him at the moment, and he felt a tingle run up his
spine. “I’m worried that if you don’t get at least five minutes of good
human interaction daily you’re going to lose your marbles. It’s sort of
like your human emotions need to be stimulated by genuine interaction
so you don’t lose the limited range of emotions you do have and
become a real menace.”
And just like that, the tingle disappeared, and he felt his palms crackle
with explosions. Her gaze shifted down to his hands, but she just smiled
without a care in the world. “See, that’s what I mean! You’ve been
without me all day and now you’re-“
“l’m this close to blowing you up,” he cut her off, gesturing with his
fingers to make the point.
She squinted at him. “Your fingers are touching,” she finally observed.
“Exactly.”
There was a second where she looked up sharply and they just stared at
each other in total silence, before she got a teasing look in her eyes as
she quickly darted away.
“GET BACK HERE YOU PIECE OF SHIT!” he boomed, giving chase even as
he heard her sweet laugh, desperately trying to push away any teelings
he didn’t understand.
He’d been doing that a lot around her, and he’d continue to do so
because he didn’t think anything good could come from these foreign
thoughts.
EPISODE 24
The next day, they were told that the day’s exercise would be a rescue
mission exercise in an off-campus facility. Once they were all suited up
in their costumes, they all boarded the bus, trying to cater to Lida’s
needs to do his best as the class president.
(Y/N) couldn’t help but smile fondly at him. He’s just so earnest in
everything he does. He’ll be a great hero.
Once they were all in the bus, (Y/N) sat on the edge of the bench next to
Izuku, mostly quiet as everyone else started discussing quirks. She let
her thoughts drift, wondering how today’s rescue mission exercise was
going to turn out, when she was pulled out of her thoughts by Izuku’s
sputtering.
“What no, what-y-you think so? B-But I’m.uh..”
“Wait a sec, Tsu-chan. All Might doesn’t get hurt when he uses his,” she
heard Kirishima say, and she realised they were talking about lzuku’s
quirk, “they just kinda look the same.”
Izuku gave a relieved sigh next to her and she fought the urge to laugh,
leaning in close so her mouth was next to his ear. “You’re not exactly
being subtle here, Izuku-chan, calm down.”
He blushed at her comment but thankfully everyone else was listening
to Kirishima as he began talking about skill and flashiness along with
popularity.
“If we’re talking about flashiness, then it’s definitely Bakugou and
Todoroki!” Kirishima exclaimed, shooting them both appreciative looks.
“Bakugou’s always mad, so he doesn’t seem like he’ll be popular,
though,” Tsu said with her default bluntness.
“What the hell! You wanna fight?!” Bakugou immediately shouted,
standing up from his seat
“See?” Tsu pointed to Bakugou, who had in fact just proved her point
exactly.
(Y/N) couldn’t help but burst out laughing, “damn short fuse, only a
couple days and they already have you figured out to the tip hahaha..”
“I’LL FUCKING KILL YOU!” he snarled loudly again, this time at her.
“It’s true, we haven’t known each other that long, so it’s amazing that
everyone already knows his personality is crap steeped in sewage”,
Kaminari said smugly.
“WHAT’S WITH THAT VOCABULARY BASTARD, I’LL KILL YOU!” Bakugou
barked, looking ready to leap over the railing and blow Kaminari’s face
off.
“Now now short fuse, no killing,” (Y/N) said soothingly, “it’s not even
past 9 AM yet, at least wait until lunch.”
“Hey, whose side are you on?!” Kaminari argued, sounding less smug
and more betrayed, “I thought we had something here!” he gestured,
pointing back and forth between them.
“WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU SAYIN’?!” Bakugou growled angrily, “LOOK
AT ME BEFORE I BLOW YOU TO KINGDOM COME, FUCKING PIKACHU
KNOCKOFF!”
“We’re here, stop messing around,” Aizawa said in a bored tone, not at
all fazed by the threats.
“Yes, sir!” they all echoed as they settled down, getting ready for class,
Bakugou grumbling with rage.
They were taken into US.J, all of them marvelling at the intricate arena
when they met Thirteen, the rescue hero. But, before class could begin,
an ominous aura surrounded the students as Aizawa straightened up,
looking much more alert than usual.
“Gather together and don’t move! Thirteen, protect the students!”
(Y/N) followed his gaze, and felt her breath catch in her throat, looking
back and seeing Aizawa put his glasses on.
“Those are villains,” he said, soundinggrim.
(Y/N) could practically feel the surprise and fear radiating from her
classmates, all of them rendered immobile by what was in front of
them.
Finally, a voice broke through, incredulous, “villains? No way.”
“Yeah, Thirteen, why aren’t the alarms going off?” Questioned
Yaoyorozu.
“I’m not sure.”
“Is the entire campus under attack, or is this their only target? If the
alarms aren’t being triggered, then one of these villains must have a
quirk that masks their presence here.” Shouto spoke, stepping forward,
looking unfazed as always. “They carefully chose this isolated facility as
an entry point at a time when a class was being taught. They’re fools for
trespassing here, but they must have thought this out. Whatever their
plan is, they must have an objective in mind, but what is it?”
They all watched as the villains drew nearer, Aizawa giving them
instructions for what to do before rushing into battle.
“Wait!” (Y/N) shouted as he leaped down into the terrain, too late to stop
him. She whirled around, “we can’t just leave him to fight all of these
villains!
“He’s a pro-hero,” Thirteen reasoned, “our priority now is to contact the
school and get you guys away from here safe and sound”
“I know he’s strong!” she replied, turning back to look for him, “but it’s
too much, he’s just one man, he’s vastly outnumbered and.” she trailed
off as she watched him make first contact with some villains, “well shit
he’s killing it!”
For a second, they were all transfixed by the way he fought them all by
himself with no problem or hesitation, before Thirteen grabbed their
attention and made them run the opposite way. Before they could get
far however, their path was blocked by one of the villains, who looked
like he was made up of darkness, asking about All Might’s whereabouts.
Kirishima and Bakugou rushed for the villain together, attacking him
and creating a cloud of smoke, their attack turning out to be futile.
“You two! Get back right now!” Thirteen shouted, before they all were
surrounded by that same darkness.
(Y/N) struggled to stand upright, her vision becoming clouded in
darkness, the only things she was able to detect where the surprised
grunts from her classmates. She used her shadows to help her stay
grounded, fearing the fact that she was going to be swept away, before
suddenly she felt a pair of arms wrap roughly around her waist.
In a panic, she struggled harshly for a second, only to hear Shouto’s
voice in her ear, “it’s me, (Y/N), it’s okay.” and she only had a second to
feel some relief before a sudden swooping feeling enveloped them and
she lost her grip in reality.
They soon landed roughly on the side of a mountain, (Y/N) shooting
upright straight away, looking around in panic.
“l’m here,” Shouto said to her left, slowly getting to his feet, “are you
alright?”
She nodded shakily, “did that guy separate us from the rest? What are
we will do, they could be in trouble and they’re after All Might.”
“(Y/N). Don’t panic, if we keep level-headed about this we’ll be fine,” he
Surveyed the area, tensing when he spotted villains some distance
away, “you’re strong, nothing’s going to happen to you, okay? Especially
not while Tm here, he jerked his head and she followed his gaze to the
villains, “stay alert and get ready to fight, I’m going to freeze them all
like I did on the test, okay?”
She nodded as she stepped back, looking around at the area as he
ended the fight in a single blow.
She looked back when she heard the groans of the villains frozen in
place.
“Are you embarrassed to be defeated by a child?” Shouto taunted in an
icy tone, “for god’s sake, you’re adults, put up a real fight.” He
approached them slowly, “so the plan was to scatter us then kill us. Hah,
you were awfully unprepared. In fact, it looks to me like you haven’t had
the slight bit of training. You haven’t the slightest idea of how to use
your quirks.”
(Y/N) followed after him, using her shadow to propel herself above the
ground when one of the villains said “this power! He froze us the instant
he got here! He’s not a kid, he’s a monster!’
Shouto walked on without reacting, but (Y/N) felt her blood boil in her
veins. “How about you take a look at yourself for a change, you-!”
Shouto only ignored her as he stepped up to a villain, inquiring coldly
about their plan to kill All Might.
Right, he’s always on top of things, isn’the? (Y/N) thought distractedly
as the villain blabbered about the huge monster like thing that they had
brought along, apparently strong enough to kill All Might.
“Huh,” Shouto drawled, stepping away, “we have to get back to the
centre of battle. That’s where they bigshot villains are bound to stay
close to, and we should warn Aizawa-sensei about this so-called
weapon.”
“Shouto, what about the rest of our classmates?” she said as she fell
into step with him.
“What about them?” he asked indifferently.
“Well, I know these villains aren’t particularly powerful, but this is the
first time most of us have faced real life villains! What if some of them
get hurt? lIzuku can’t use his quirk without hurting himself, and
Kirishima and Bakugou.” she took a sharp intake of breath, trying not to
worry,”they were so close to that warp gate villain, what if…”
“They’ll be fine. Plus, I doubt you have to be worried about that
Bakugou guy of all people, he’ll kill it out there. Have more faith in them
and focus on us for now. We have vital information, and our quirks could
be useful. If this weapon they have is dangerous enough to take on All
Might, chances are Aizawa-sensei will fight him, and he may not get out
of that.”
(Y/N) sharply looked away, looking more alert, “you’re right. I’m sorry
it’s just…”
“You’re always putting other people above everything. They’re your
friends, I get it, but they’ll handle themselves. For now, let’s get to the
centre of this.”
They remained silent as they got off the mountain quickly, making their
way across the field before (Y/N) felt the air get heavy, immediately
looking around.
Shouto lifted an arm in front of her, alert as he scanned their
Surroundings.
(Y/N) used her necklace to prick her finger (picture something like Annie
has in SnK but a necklace instead), feeling the blood run down her hand
until it reaches the Earth.
“Hisa, come forth.”
Suddenly, the air around them got colder, and (Y/N) fought against the
urge to shiver. No matter how many times she did this, she would never
get used to spirit summoning.
“(Y/N),” she heard a soft voice, an image of a girl a few years older than
her floating in the air, “what can I do for you?”
“Just scouting, please. I get the feeling we’re being watched butI can’t
pinpoint the enemy’s location, point me in the right direction.”
“Of course,” Hisa said, immediately shooting off in front of them.
“You’ve mastered spirit summoning?” Shouto asked.
“A bit. I mostly only use spirits to help boost my strength, but they can
help me with simple tasks too. Plus, forming a relationship with spirits is
not easy at all, Ionly have a few of them willing to help me out.”
Before Shouto could reply, (Y/N) felt Hisa’s energy pull to her right, and
immediately solidified a huge shadow barrier around their right side just
as sharp spikes made out of what seemed to be solidified mud attacked
them from that direction.
(Y/N) grunted from the impact, trying to keep the shadow solidified
before the pressure stopped. She kept the shadow up for longer and
looked around to see gunk of mud at her feet, more spikes rapidly
approaching.
Shouto shot his ice at the projectiles heading for them, whilst (Y/N) let
the barrier fall and reached to the man with her shadow, getting hold of
him and using marionettes to freeze him in place.
As soon as all the projectile weapons were taken care of, Shouto didn’t
hesitate to shoot his ice and freeze the man in place, just as he had done
with the previous ones.
“They don’t seem to know our quirks,” she commented as they saw
another man with huge build stalk over to them, with huge crab like
claws.
Shouto didn’t hesitate to freeze him again, quickly immobilising him.
“Come on, we can’t afford to get held back,” he said, walking away.
“Hey, maybe I can use shadow travel to get us there faster”
“No.”
She blinked at him. “But-“
“Have you even mastered it completely yet?”
“Um, for the most part-”
“No. Getting the hang of that power is extremely hard and draining, if
you pulled it off with both of us, or even just you, you could get hurt or
be unable to fight in the aftermath. I know a lot of these are helpless
villains, butI spotted at least five villains that did seem dangerous. I
can’t you be unable to fight if you have to.”
“But it’ll be faster-
“I’ll quickly freeze anyone who gets in our path, we’ll get there soon
enough.”
“Shouto”
“No! Just listen to me!” he snarled exasperatedly as he turned to face
her, anger in his eyes.
She took a shaky breath. She knew he was right, to this day she had
never been able to use shadow travel to get through long distances, she
needed more practice. Besides, even when she managed to use it, she
became extremely drained and would be unable to fight after, not even
having enough strength to summon spirits to help her stamina. If she
was in that condition when they got to the centre of the fight, chances
are she wouldn’t be able to fight back, and would become a hindrance
instead.
But could she really help if she wasn’t able to use the full extent of her
powers? What if they got there and their classmates or teachers were
hurt?
She found herself getting angry. Not at Shouto, because he was right,
but at herself.
Thave all this power, but no way to fully control and use it. Ifi can’t
really help when people need me.. I’m just useless.
EPISODE 25
With those awful thoughts in mind, she could only follow Shouto along
as they hurried closer to the fight. Once they were nearing, they heard a
loud blasting impact, rushing towards it.
(Y/N) felt her breath catch when she spotted Aizawa-sensei laying in a
puddle of his own blood and All Might in the hold of the nomu, Izuku
rushing towards him.
Before she could warn him, the warp gate villain was already there. (Y/N)
didn’t hesitate to rapidly extend her shadow, praying that she wouldn’t
be too late. She got a hold of Izuku around his waist and threw him back
and away from Kurogiri just in time for Bakugou to burst in and blast an
explosion at the villain. (Y/N) felt her heart beat faster with relief when
she saw that Bakugou, as far as she could tell, was unscathed.
“GET THE HELL OUT OF MY WAY, DEKU!” He shouted as Izuku got back on
his feet and shot (Y/N) a relieved and grateful look.
Bakugou then roughly wrestled the villain down, Shouto quickly using
that opportunity to freeze the giant nomu in place.
“One of your poorly trained thugs told me you’re here because you
think you can defeat All Might,” Shouto said mockingly.
All Might managed to get himself out of the villain’s grasp, and (Y/N)
immediately rushed towards Izuku. “Izuku! Are you alright?!”
“I’m fine, (Y/N), thank you for earlier” he replied as he looked over at All
might with concern, hurriedly wiping off worried tears.
“The symbol of piece will not be defeated by delinquents like you,”
Shouto said.,”I’m looking at the villains with contempt.”
“Everyone…” Izuku breathed in relief.
It was a very touching and all, at least right up until the moment (Y/N)’s
eyes fell on Bakugou.
“You try anything funny and ‘i’ll blow your ass up so bad they’ll be
piecing you back together for weeks” he snarled at the warp gate villain
with a manic smirk on his face.
“Wooooah, that doesn’t sound very heroic” Kirishima replied, a nervous
grin on his face.
(Y/N) fought the urge to face palm, but just briefly. “Short fuse, you’re
having way too much fun right now.”
However, their triumph didn’t last for long, as the nomu quickly
destroyed the ice and got back on its feet.
Even Shouto looked stunned next to her, all of them tensing as they
sensed another attack coming.
(Y/N) braced herself to fight, hands extended, ready to control her
shadows, but instead only had a second to blink before the nomu was
rushing towards Bakugou in a flurry.
(Y/N) instinctive reached out with her shadow and to shove Bakugou out
of the way or form a barrier before the nomu reached him, but instead
got a sinking feeling in her gut as they were all sent flying back from the
impact, her shadow not having contacted Bakugou at all.
She quickly got up, pure panic pumping through her veins, as she
looked around for Bakugou, relaxing once she spotted him in front of
her.
“Katsu!” she cried, getting closer to him, wanting to assess his damage.
“Kacchan!” Izuku gasped at the same time, “you were able to dodge.”
“Shut the fuck up you nerd, I didn’t,” Bakugou said, frozen in place,
gazing off into the distance.
(Y/N) furrowed her brow in confusion, before she realised and looked at
the point of impact. As she feared, it was All Might who had taken the
brunt of the attack, battered but still standing.
The shitty hands dude then went on a frankly shitty rant about villains
and heroes and violence, the words just rushing through (Y/N)’s head as
she boiled with anger over how they had tried to hurt Bakugou and
Izuku had succeeded in hurting their teachers too.
They all prepared to attack, to help All Might and get involved, before All
Might asked them to leave the fight to him, charging for the nomu head
On.
The fight was on a completely other level, all of them forced to watch as
All Might and the nomu fought head to head, All Might eventually
looking like he had the upper hand.
“Man, this is intense,” Bakugou said softly, as quiet as (Y/N) had ever
heard him.
“As I expected,” Shouto said turning away when All Might had seemingly
won the fight, “c’mon (Y/N), Midoriya, we should be on our way, he’ll
handle these guys. We can’t afford to be held hostages or get in his way.”
They all turned back, but (Y/N) hesitated when she saw the expression
on Izuku’s face as he looked at All Might. Nothing seemed out of the
ordinary, but then…
Something’s not right, she thought as she followed Izuku’s gaze, and
noticed if she looked extremely closely, that faintly, All Might seemed to
be…smoking?
(Y/N) only had time to confusedly think, is he a titan or what? Before
Izuku was already charging in, using his power to boost himself off the
ground, his legs broken from the force.
Goddammit Izuku.
(Y/N)’s heart leap to her throat, realising she couldn’t possibly stop him
as he got closer to the warp gate villain, one of the hands coming
through the portal and reaching for Izuku.
She felt hot panic surge through her as she stepped forward and
solidified her shadow, reaching for the villain’s hand instead of Izuku.
At the rate he’s going and the extent of his power, I may not be strong
enough to pull him back fast enough now, she thought as her shadow
met Shigaraki’s reaching hands just before it could make contact with
Izuku’s face.
She could distantly hear herself desperately screaming Izuku’s name as
she realised his power disintegrated her solidified shadow, quickly
forming another arm and grasping Izuku before her power
disintegrated, using all her current strength to yank him back forcefully,
before a sudden gunshot tore through the hand’s flesh.
(Y/N) was too shaken and tired from her sudden move to control the
extent of her quirk and ended up pulling Izuku into her rapidly until he
roughly collided with her, both sent crashing back on the ground, his
body on top of hers.
A sharp pain exploded through (Y/N)’s head as her head hit the ground,
her vision went black for a few seconds before she could focus again.
She belatedly heard the commotion through her ringing ears, her spirits
raising as she realised the heroes are here.
Izuku slowly groaned on top of her, trying to move but moaning out in
pain instead.
“Izuku!” she shifted slowly, her vision going blurry for a few seconds,
trying to assess his damage, “your legs…” she quickly looked away from
his broken legs with a wince, only to start when she spotted the man
who was standing in the shadows.
“I… couldn’t help you…” Izuku said, tears running down his face, his
eyes focused on the man.
That’s not true, you bought me a few final seconds, the tiger said
slowly, looking at them both.
Is that..is that All Might? (Y/N) thought incredulously, not able to take
her eyes off him.
“Young Midoriya, you’ve saved me once again…” he said to Izuku, then
turned to her, and (Y/N) felt her pulse pick up, “and Young (L/N), you
saved Young Midoriya. I can’t thank you both enough.”
At that, Izuku started, only just seeming to register that he was sprawled
on top of her.
“Y/N)!” he screeched, waving his arms in front of her, trying to shield
her vision, before realising it was futile. She had already seen all of it.
“It’s okay, Izuku,” she said slowly, a thousand connections running
through her head, making it ache. By his reaction, it was evident he
already knew. “I won’t tell anyone,” she promised softly.
Izuku’s eyes filled with grateful tears as he looked back at All Might, (Y/N)
softly smiling at him. We’re alive. We’re safe.
She shifted carefully so as not to hurt Izuku, trying to ignore her
pounding head, and finally managed to stand up slowly, feeling dizzy. It
took hera minute to get her bearings, finally able to focus and debate
on how to pick up Izuku without hurting him, before she heard
Kirishima’s shout.
“Midoriya! (L/N)!” he exclaimed happily, running towards them.
(Y/N) saw the look of panic on Izuku’s face as he looked between
Kirishima and All Might, only having a chance to call out “Kirishima,
wait!’, before thankfully, a huge wall of cement came between them.
“For your safety, please stay back young man. Join your classmates at
the front gate. If you leave them to us, we can take care of them,” she
distantly heard Cementos say.
“Oh, thanks!” Kirishima’s bright voice said, and she breathed a sigh of
relief.
The still, calm atmosphere only for a second before a loud, “WHERE THE
FUCK IS SHE?! SHE BETTER NOT BE HURT, THAT FUCKING PIECE OF
SHIT! MAGGOT!” broke through the air, accompanied by thumping steps
towards the wal
“(Y/N) isn’t hurt, is she?” she heard Shouto’s much more composed
voice ask a second later, closer to the other side of the wall than she
expected.
“Bakugou-” Cementos tried to reason, but he wasn’t as easily turned
away from Kirishima.
“COME OUT MAGGOT, YOU BETTER NOT HAVE GONE DOWN!I DIDN’T
WASTE MY PRECIOUS TIME TRAINING WITH YOU JUST SO YOU cOULD
GET FUCKING TAKEN DOWN SO EASILY YOU FUCKING”
(Y/N) gave an irritated sigh. Well, at least he’s clearly okay, she thought
before addressing lzuku and All Might. “Will you both be okay? We can
talk about this later, I promise I won’t tell.”
“We will. Thank you, Young (L/N), run along before they make more of a
Commotion.”
She heard Cementos trying to talk over Bakugou, and gently ruffled
Izuku’s hair before she slowly stepped out from behind the wall, her
limbs feeling heavier than she remembered.
“Bakuhoe, chill, I’m fine,” she said, slowly walking up to him, “see? not
SCratch.”
However, before Bakugou could take a proper look at her, his head
whipped around as Kirishima’s loud voice reached them.
“(L/N)! I’m so happy you’re okay! It looked like you look a nasty fall
there ” Kirishima’s arms raised as he neared, looking as if he was about
to give her a relieved hug.
(Y/N) couldn’t help but feel warm inside. Kirishima really looks like the
kind of person to give super nice hugs, and after everything just
happened, a big, comforting hug sounds like heaven.
Before Kirishima could get close enough however, (Y/N) felt a tug at her
arm, pulling her backwards and making her head sharply ache, and her
vision of Kirishima was blocked by Bakugou’s back.
“WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU’RE DOING, SHITTY HAIR?!” Bakugou snarled
at Kirishima.
“Whoa, dude! Calm down!” Kirishima said, making a placating motion
with his hands, “I just wanted to ensure (L/N) is okay! Looking after our
classmates and comforting them is the manly thing to do!”
Bakugou seemed even angrier at this for some reason, and before fY/N)
could say anything she felt the same tug on her arm.
She looked in that direction to find Shouto standing next to her, his face
oddly blank.
“Shou-chan?” she asked without meaning to, but his eyes snapped up
to her face.
“(Y/N), your head,” he reached out to touch her but his hand stopped
mid-motion, “I think you’re bleeding.”
She frowned and reached to touch the back of her head, only to wince
and have her vision briefly blur as she makes contact.
“Oh.. I hit my head pretty hard when l fell, haha, but it’s cool, I feel
okay!” she said cheerfully.
“Do you?” he asked, doubtful, his gaze not leaving her face.
“BACK OFF SHITTY HAIR!” she heard Bakugou snarl at Kirishima again,
before he turned back around and glared at Shouto, “YOU TOO ICY HOT
BASTARD!”
(Y/N) couldn’t help but wince, her head aching at the sudden increase in
volume.
“Will you stop shouting? You’re being incredibly annoying,” Shouto said
to Bakugou.
“THE FUCK DID YOU SAY YOU BASTARD?!” Bakugou growled, stepping
closer.
“Woah.” (Y/N) breathed as Bakugou came into her line of vision, “short
fuse, woah.
“What?!” he snapped at her, stopping in his tracks.
She reached out with shaky hands to grasp onto the things on
Bakugou’s head, “Katsu! Oh my god… it’s a butterfly!”
He froze under her grip, looking confused before he registered what she
said.
“WHAT?!”he shouted, and she instinctively recoiled as a sharp pain shot
through her head again.
“Bakugou.” Shouto said, stepping next to her, glaring daggers at him, “it
would be best if you kept your voice down. (Y/N) probably has a
concussion from her fall earlier.”
“A wah?” (Y/N) asked, feeling drowsy, her eyelids feeling heavy, “Shou-
chan…”
“I’m here, (Y/N),” he said, his tone less ribbed than the one he used with
Bakugou, “IIl take you back to the bus and you can get treated back at
school if Recovery Girl is not here already. Until then, keep talking and
don’t go to sleep, okay?”
She felt his arm leading her gently away from the area, but she found
her spirits dropped when Bakugou was no longer in her line of sight.
“Noooo..” she moaned, trying to look for him, “Katsu! Katsu-chan,
where are you?
Bakugou, who had just watched silently, frozen by the way Shouto easily
took her away, snapped back into action and stepped next to her.
“l’m fucking here, maggot, don’t be stupid.”
She stopped trying to crane her head in the opposite direction, her eyes
finding him right away.
“Katsu, your butterflies are beautiful. You look like a Disney princess.”
Bakugou felt his temper rise and would have shouted if he didn’t feel Icy
Hot’s warning glare.
Tch, you fucking shithead, you had to go get hurt the first time, didn’t
you?
He could help but lash out, strangely frustrated at the fact that she
hadn’t gotten out unscathed.
“I’m not hurt!” she protested, her steps sluggish, “Katsu, you were
awesome out there. You too Shou-chan.” She caught a red blur at the
Corner, and she turned to find Kirishima.
“AND KIRI! Youuuuu were so manly!! she said with as much enthusiasm
as she could muster in her current state, her words slightly slurring
without her consent.
He gave her a winning smile, “you to0, (L/N)! Always looking out for your
triends, So manly!
She smiled weakly, “well, someone has to look out for.. 1zuku-chan..
Her vision got blurry again and she felt her knees buckling, but before
she could hit the ground, strong pair of arms were wrapped around her
waist.
“Fuck! For fuck’s sake maggot, keep your shit together!” she heard
Bakugou hiss into her ear.
“Katsu…
“Let her go,” she heard another voice. Shou-chan. “I’ll take care of her”
he said, stepping closer.
“Yeah, because you’ve done such a fucking magnificent job so far,
haven’t you?” Bakugou shot back.
Shouto recoiled as if those words had physically struck him hard.
(Y/N) turned just in time to see his face harden.
“You’re right, Bakugou, but you’re not any better. You’re so crude and
violent all the time, I’m not sure you’re good for-“
“OH, I’M THE CRUDE AND VIOLENT ONE?!”
“If the shoe fits.”
She felt Bakugou tense up further. “Don’t fight” she mumbled, but it
was drowned out by Bakugou’s loud voice.
FUCK YOU ICY HOT, I’MNOT THE ONE THAT
“Ooookay,” she heard another voice interject hesitantly, “guys, how
about we cool it, alright? Now’s not the time to be fighting, we need to
get her medical attention.”
Tch, Bakugou said, and in one fluid movement scooped her up in his
arms gently, “I fucking know that.”
She felt herself move more rapidly, hearing Kirishima’s voice, “(L/N)?
Stay with us, open your eyes, keep talking.”
She fought to open her eyes, and wanted to ask about Shouto since she
didn’t hear him anymore but her thoughts were so muddled that she
soon got caught up in listening to Kirishima’s sweet voice talking about
the fight and doing commentary, occasionally asking her questions to
keep her engaged.
Soon enough, she felt Bakugou put her down slowly, more voices
around.
“Is that (Y/N)?!” she heard a voice ask worriedly. Mina.
“Oh no, what happened?!” Uraraka. “Is she okay?!”
“She’ll be okay,’ Kirishima replied, “she has a concussion, Recovery Girl
will be able to patch her right up.”
“Oh god, she’s with the teachers right now, come I’ll take you,” Uraraka
said, but there was a moment of silence.
“Bakugou? Aren’t you going to pick her up-” Kirishima asked.
“Why the fuck would I do that? She’ll be fine now, it’s just a fucking
concussion and Recovery Girl is over there, she doesn’t need my fucking
help,” he growled as he stalked angrily away.
“Um,” Uraraka blinked at his back, “well-“
Kirishima just frowned after Bakugou as he moved forwards to pick (Y/N)
up, before she held her arm out to keep him at bay
“Oh, I don’t feel so hot,” she said, before she rushed to the side and
emptied out her stomach.
“(Y/N)!” she felt Mina standing by her side, holding her hair back and
patting her back comfortingly, “shit, how hard did she hit her head?”
“Pretty hard, but she seemed okay for a while and is sort of coherent, so
hopefully it’s just a mild concussion, Kirishima replied, as (Y/N) Sat back
and wiped her mouth.
“Ugh, gross,” she mumbled, getting drowsy again, “my head hurts, but
thinkI can walk now” she got up slowly, and Mina and Uraraka stood at
either side of her, supporting and helping her until soon enough,
Recovery Girl came to (Y/N)’s line of vision, and with just a single kiss
Y/N) blinked as her head slowly cleared and stopped pounding as hard
“Kirishima?” she asked as she saw him standing over her, “Uraraka,
Mina, what are you guys-
“Oh, you really are okay!” Uraraka said, leaning forward and grasping
(Y/N)’s arms tightly, “you had a mild concussion, but Recovery Girl took
care of it.”
“Oh man, really? I thought I got out of that unscathed,” she said,
disappointed
“Dude, you’re lucky you got away with only a concussion! What
happened? Mina questioned.
“Um, well I thinkI hit my head pretty hard when l pulled Izuku in and he
crashed into me,” (Y/N) said sheepishly, rubbing the back of her now
healed head.
“You should have seen (Y/N) out there!l feel like you’re the president of
the Midoriya protection squad, Kirishima said jokingly, turning to her,
“you looked like you were about to burst into tears every time Midoriya
threw himself out there.’
“Well he’s my little green bean sunshine child! And he’s reckless as fuck
like damn, I feel like l lost 50 years of my lifespan today alone just from
watching him go for it.”
“How is Deku?” Uraraka asked worriedly.
“He’s still down there. He..(Y/N) winced, “it’s not pretty, but
he’s…alive. Broken legs, multiple wounds… Inko is going to be so
upset..
“But we all made it. That’s the important thing!” Kirishima exclaimed
after a sad silence, trying to get rid of the tense atmosphere, “looking at
this how it is, we’re lucky it’s not worse. To be attacked by actual villains
on the first day.
They all looked grim again, before (Y/N)’s eyes widened and she looked
around
“Where’s Shouto? And Bakugou?”
At that, Kirishima looked uncomfortable, “um, Bakugou had a fit and
left, probably went back to the bus… and Todoroki must have done the
same”
“Oh,” (Y/N) couldn’t help the wave of disappointment she felt at not
seeing them, but she quickly pushed those feelings away, “but they’re
both okay, right?”
“Yes, don’t worry, they’re completely fine. They were both worried and
Bakugou..” Kirishima hesitated, looking unsure of whether he should
speak,”Bakugou carried you back.”
“Oh,” (Y/N) felt some weird emotion settle at the bottom of her stomach.
“We should… we should get back to the bus,” Uraraka said, helping (Y/N)
get up, “we were all worried about you guys, come on.”
But then (Y/N) had a horrible, sinking feeling in her chest. “Wait, what
about Aizawa-sensei?
Uraraka and Mina shared a look, and (Y/N) felt her pulse raise in a panic.
“He’s…honestly, it’s not good. He’s really badly hurt, in critical condition.
But once we’re back to UA everyone will be able to get better treated,
and the Recovery Girl said he should be fine, just..”
(Y/N) felt a prickling sensation in her eyes, and she shut them tight in
order to keep her eyes from tearing up.
“I’m sorry… if only i was stronger and had better control of my power,
Shouto and I maybe could have helped him, and he wouldn’t be-“
“What are you talking about, (L/N)? Don’t say that, it’s not your fault!”
Kirishima argued
“Kirishima is right, (Y/N)! Don’t think like that okay? Aizawa-sensei is
hurt, but he’ll be fine! Recovery girl said so.”
(Y/N) was silent for a moment, not trusting herself to speak. Kirishima,
Mina and Uraraka share a worried look before Uraraka cleared her
throat.
“Well, let’s get back to the bus, (L/N)-chan! It’s going to be okay.”
They walked back, Kirishima and Mina in the front, (Y/N) and Uraraka in
the back.
“Kirishima-kun really is right, (Y/N). You can’t blame yourself for Aizawa-
sensei, okay? Not after we all barely got out of there alive.”
“I.. I could have done better. It’s just so fucking frustrating you know?1
have way more power than I Know what to do with or to control, and it’s
just… if l was stronger I could have helped out more instead of-“
“(Y/N), no,” Uraraka said, firmly yet still gently, “that’s why we’re all here
isn’t it? To become better and stronger, to be good heroes. So… you’ree
going to get better and more powerful, and you’re going to help people
It’s a long process and journey, and it’s not your fault that something
like this happened, okay? Not Aizawa-sensei, and not Deku-kun either.”
(Y/N) looked at Uraraka wide-eyed, and Uraraka shrugged, “I haven’t
known you and Deku-kun for long, but I can see how much you care for
him. If you’re blaming yourself for not being able to protect him too,
which l’m guessing you are, please don’t. Neither Aizawa-sensei nor
Deku-kun would want you to blame yourself for that.”
(Y/N) looked away, unsure and guilty. “I… maybe you’re right, but I just
can’t..”
“That’s okay!” Uraraka said brightly, “we’re all going to have people you
can’t save, unfortunately, but you did save Deku-kun today! And I know
you would have done everything to help Aizawa-sensei if you could
have”
“But that’s the thing! I did nothing, Uraraka, NOTHING!” (Y/N) lost it,
unable to keep it in, “I could have shadow travelled, but what good
would that have done if I was left powerless and unable to help after?!
But if l had at least gotten Shouto there sooner, he might have been able
to do something. My own power, I can’t use my own power to help myy
teacher or my friend-“
“So by that logic then, do you think we’re all responsible for Aizawa-
sensei and Deku-kun getting hurt?” Uraraka asked seriously.
“Wha-what?” (Y/N) asked confusedly.
“Some on us were by Thirteen when this all happened, and we weren’t
strong enough to go into the battle and help Aizawa-sensei to fight
against that nomu. So technically, like you, we all couldn’t use our
powers to help him in that case. Does that mean that we are all to
blame?
“No! Uraraka, you guys had no choice”
“And neither did you, (Y/N)!”Uraraka interrupted, “if your power
couldn’t get you there, you also didn’t have a choice! So don’t blame
yourself, if you don’t blame the rest of us too.”
(Y/N) stared at Uraraka, awed. /have been blessed with another angel.
Oh my god. I do not deserve it.
“Uraraka-chan…”(Y/N) mumbled, unsure of what to say.
“It’ll be okay, (Y/N)-chan. Really. You’ll get stronger, I just know it.”
(Y/N) slowly smiled. She couldn’t say that she felt completely better yet,
but she felt touched at Uraraka’s view. (Y/N) knew she was right on some
level, but the image of Izuku’s broken body and Aizawa’s crippled form
prevented her from really seeing reason.
“Thank you, Uraraka-chan,” (Y/N) said genuinely. Maybe she could grow
to believe it.
“You’re welcome, (Y/N)-chan!” Uraraka’s eyes widened, and she rushed
to correct herself, “oh no, I’m sorry I got too comfortable! I won’t call
you that again!”
“It’s okay! l’d actually prefer it if you called me (Y/N), you are my friend
after all.”
Uraraka blushed, “really? Well call me Ochako, since you’re my friend
too!” She gave (Y/N) a bright smile.
“Sure, Ochako-chan.”
They walked for a bit longer, until they reached the bus, all their
classmates already there, gathered outside the USJ.
(Y/N) looked around, seeing all them seemed unscathed. She felt
happiness and relief at seeing them all safe. Except maybe Mineta but
she’ll ignore that.
And then she saw them.
