Protagonist Knows Everything - Cha[ter 24: Quest Meeting
Sain and Kasha turned to me then looked at each other. Then both of them turned back to me with weird smiles adorned on their faces. As if they thought I was making a joke.
“Mr. Tay. This is a S-class quest.”
“Yeah. You already made that clear.”
“No you don’t understand. It’s an S-class.”
“Yeah. So until now…”
[Fist hitting a wooden table SFX. Please I don’t know what would sound right here.]
Kasha hit the table.
“It’s an S-class!!!!!”
‘Do these people know me as a fool?’
“I know what. Don’t say ridiculous things. Tay!”
“The risk is really high this time. Not like the frit quest…”
With a little depressed voice Kasha continued.
“When I was dealing with an A-class adventurer, but you almost died.”
All of a sudden Kasha was emphasizing on being A-class.
“There must be something wrong with your memory. I remember that you did a really good job protecting me,” I said with a smile.
“No. It was dangerous. Even though I protected you that time, this time I don’t have the confidence to do that.”
“Don’t worry, this time I don’t have the slightest intentions to go to the field.”
“If you’re up against Dame then there’s no boundary between the front and back. He advances 100 metres with a single step. If the spell doesn’t work, that’s it.”
“A step of 100 metres will have a lot of gaps in between.”
Kasha’s mouth was wide open.
“Dame is a monster that just moves forward. He’s not the one who picks and kills people.”
“If the spell doesn’t work, we’ll just flee from there. I can’t relax because am worried about sending a kid like you alone.”
“I am not a kid. I’ve gone to many quests alone so far.”
While she said that, Kasha was a bit flustered and was scratching her cheek.
I looked at Sain and said.
“Don’t worry. In fact, it’s quite strange to send an adventurer alone for something like an S-class quest.”
“You said that the top priority of this job was survival and a safe return, right? We’ll be sure to do that so don’t worry, think of it like a business trip.”
Sain’s face was full of worries.
After almost ten minutes of silence Sain finally spoke.
“I was thinking about refusing the quest for the past 10 minutes.”
“But… I don’t think I have the courage yet.”
“Mr. Tay won’t listen to me if I just told you stay back, you hold Kasha close to you after all.”
I didn’t know what she meant by the last sentence, so I tried to ask, but Sein laughed a little bitterly and said.
“Please just don’t die.”
I answered with a little more determined voice.
Thus, the Hagnut Guild decided to officially participate in the S-class quest consortium.
The rumors of the S-class quest quickly spread around Kelk city. Not only the adventurer’s tavern, but most of the people in the streets knew about it.
Everyone walked around with depressed faces.
“Dragon Dame. Why now…”
“Something is really weird.”
“This is not really a big deal.”
“Be careful with your mouth. Asshole. ”
To be precise, rather than the story of the S-class quest itself, the story behind it… The Demon King Hebrew and other named monsters were spreading at a much quicker pace.
During this time there were no ‘accidents’ between the Wyvern Guild and the Hagnut Guild .
‘I thought Dirk was going to rush in. But good thing that I have one less thing to worry about.’
According to what I saw in the record, it seemed that Von battered him up and told him to deal a devastating blow to the Hagnut Guild.
I was preparing quite a few things for them but now I’ll need to put them on hold. So let’s just focus on doing the quest for now.
Time passed quickly and the day for departure was here.
That morning, the Hagnut Guild was engulfed in a dull atmosphere.
After getting my luggage, I said brightly on purpose.
The receptionists looked as if they were watching a soldier who was getting coffee before departing to his deployment site.
“You are here. Mr. Tay.”
“Yeah. Sain. You don’t look so good right now. I something bothering you?”
‘Sain seemed to have ignored my question and mumbled’
“That’s right, Mr. Tay is fine. Phew.”
“I am not going to die. Don’t worry,” I said while scratching my head
“How about Kasha?”
Sain glanced at the corner.
Elena was hugging Kasha with her face buried in her chest.
Mentally she’s older than Kasha and she’s the one more matured, but today she is completely the opposite.
“Sister… No. no.”
“You can just tell me to stay back.”
“I know, but you still have to go.”
“So I won’t ask you to do that.”
Kasha patted Elena’s back with. Elena almost teared up when she did that.
“When my sister didn’t come back from the quest last time…”
“Why are you talking about that?”
“Sorry. I am behaving like a little kid.”
“It’s okay, you’re still a kid after all. But don’t cry. This time I have nice allies.”
‘I was taken aback’
‘If you can like an adult then why don’t you act like that normally? Kasha.’
After a while, we left Kelk City, all the guild members were there to wave us goodbye.
‘It’s not a joke, it feels like a real enlistment.’
Kasha leaned against the carriage chair when the carriage went outside the city gates.
Although normally she would’ve normally started talking by now, this time she was just quietly sitting there while gazing out the window.
“Are you nervous?” I said.
“No, not really.”
“You should be nervous.”
“You’re going to perform an S-class quest, only a few S-class quest have been registered throughout this empire’s history. Those who aren’t nervous must be out of touch with reality.”
Kasha looked back at me.
She was young, but her fine bones as an adventurer were thicker than anyone else’s.
But Kasha’s expression was full of worries and irritation.
“Okay. Now that looks natural,” I said with a smile.
“Tay is so amazing.”
“I was relieved at the moment when I heard the words. I thought I was abnormal for feeling nervous.”
“Let’s try our best. Te. Let’s become famous like this.”
We looked at each other’s faces and smiled.
If you open the map and look down 50 kilometers from the lost territory, there is a place called Sojein Plain.
The tower of eternity was located there.
Eternal Tower was a building built all around the continent like a guild or a merchant house.
The Eternal Tower, built on the Plains of Sojein, was neither a particularly important base nor a large place.
However, this place became a place where everyone’s eyes and ears were concentrated on.
Because it was located on the path of the named monster, Dame.
When we arrived at the Tower of Eternity, Kasha and I rested for two whole days.
And on the third day,the adventurers were to gather in the hall.
That morning, messengers ran around vigorously and made the adventurers gather.
It was the Grand Hall of the Tower of Eternity.
In the distance, I saw a child standing alone, yawning with sleepy eyes and messy hair. Needless to say, it was Kasha.
“You must have slept quite well.”
“Tay? Uhh..No don’t look.”
“What is it?”
“I couldn’t wash my face we were summoned here all of a sudden, I couldn’t even do my hair.”
“But how did you know about this? Only adventurers were informed for the gathering.” Kasha whispered.
That was thanks to the personnel records. Due to all the mages I encountered here, information was flowing into the records every second.
“I have good ears.”
“Why are you talking while facing that way?”
“I didn’t wash my face.”
Kasha was rubbing her face with her hands. I don’t think she wants to wash her face even now.
When I was trying to say something, someone stood upon the podium.
Kasha also stopped her useless mumbling and fixed her gaze towards the podium.
Her eyes were sparkling with admiration and respect.
“Tay. Do you know who she is?”
I checked the personnel records of the person on the podium once.
[Name: Celia Von Keijas]
[Occupation: Wizard, Head of the Tower of Eternity]
[Title: A plus]
[Equipment: Crystal Staff]
[Potential: S-class (82% of development degree)]
‘Ok. The potential here shows S-class.’
I was recently thinking about this potential category marked in the records.
‘Burns’ potential, for example, is Grade A, with 97 percent development. That means that his limit is up to Grade A. Kasha’s younger sister, Elena’s potential is A Plus.’
‘She is now a C-class receptionist, but if she develops her skills, she will become an unrivaled administrator.’
‘In the case of this woman named Celia, her potential is S-class and her degree of development is 82 percent.’
‘Now that is an A plus class, that would mean that if she develops steadily, she can reach the S grade.’
In addition, the potential of countless people was marked with grades such as A, B, and C.
‘I have understood everything so far…’
‘By the way, what does this mean?’
I once again confirmed Kasha’s potential.
[Potential: The great sage (Development degree 13%)]
‘Why is it that only you are not marked as A or S?’
“That is someone even you won’t kno..” Kasha said with a confident smile.
“Celia Von Keijas?”
“Would it be about A Plus in terms rankings and adventurer-type rating? Age twenty-seven?”
“More than anything else, Keijas is same surname as Arsliene von Keijas, who was a great sage 300 years ago. She seems to be a descendant.”
Kasha nodded while wearing a blank expression.
But she soon snapped out of it and said.
“She’s the Tower of Eternity’s greatest celebrity, but I never thought you’d know about her Tay.”
“And why is that?”
“She hates being on the surface. She just quietly spends her time doing research.”
“She’s from the hero’s bloodline, and she’s a great mage who became head of the northwest tower at a really young age.”
“But the greatest thing is her character. She’s really caring and affectionate towards people.”
“Seeing you speak like that, maybe you’ve met her in person?”
“Hehe. She was at the tower I studied in. She was like my teacher as well as a sister.”
There were only two people whom Kasha praised like that.
Her younger sister Elena and Guild incharge Sain.
In her mind, Celia was someone who had a similar position like them.
But those things aside, Kasha who was admiring Celia from a distance with shining eyes looked really cute.
“Okay. Wash your face and go say hello.”
Kasha turned her head away from me again.
Then Celia put some marbles on her podium.
And she said something into them.
“Ah. Well. Can you hear me?”
The large auditorium resonated.
“Is that a microphone?” I thought.
“That’s a sound amplification ball.”
“Let’s buy one of those.”
“Haha. What are you talking about Tay? That’s not something that’s sold.”
That’s probably because of the lack of money that this world has, useful items like this aren’t sold anywhere.
“Dear adventurers from all over the continent. Welcome.”
“I am Celia Von Keijas, Incharge of the towers of the eternity in the northwest region.”
Even though her face was unknown, everyone was familiar with the name.
The only people gathered here were wizards afterall.
They seemed excited because Celia, whom they saw as a role model, was in front of their eyes.
“I was given the authority to lead the adventurers this time, temporarily, by His Majesty the Emperor,” I said.
“I am not from the imperial corps nor am I a knight or a guild member. But if the emperor involved the army in the chain of commands then things would’ve become too complicated. So he chose me as the commander for this whole operation.”
“Undoubtedly, I will play that role. I will do my best, so even if I commit some mistakes, please kindly understand.”
‘How do you understand a mistake? Is she that immature?’
Everyone was wearing a smile. It made me wonder If I was the only one paying attention to what she was saying.
The wizards then screamed in unison like they were in some idol concert.
“Rather it’ll be an honour!!!”
“Please be good to us Celia!!!”
Needless to say Kasha was shouting along with them. This display was enough to distress me.
“It will take about a week for Dame to get here.”
The atmosphere of the hall became heavy.
“You must have already been informed of the operation We will use Tor Rebiere and throw him deep inside the earth like the heroes did 300 years ago.”
“The magic circle for Tor Rebeire is already in there in the plains. That’s exactly the path that Dame is taking.”
“You are here to make sure that there is nothing wrong with the magic circle. We only have one chance.”
The expression of the carefree wizards changed into pure determination. But I was more interested in Celia’s information.
‘Is there any useful information?’
Meanwhile, Celia’s words continued.
“After a week, infuse mana into the magic circle at the same time to activate it.”
“If everything goes well, the operation will be completed without any casualties. Thank you very much.”
After that Celia smiled at her and bowed her head.
I looked at her rather than looking at her personnel register.
I felt a sense of discomfort. I’ve seen that kind of smile before.
